How to see SERPs the way that moz sees SERPs
-
I'm getting to grips with the New Keyword Explorer. I've found that one of my top keyword phrases has a 'Featured Snippet' result. However I'm struggling to see it in my own browser. Is there a clean way of viewing SERPs un enhanced by history, location etc?
I'd also like to see the other SERPs features - is that possible?
I'd like to be able to see the results as Moz clearly can view them!
Thank you Mozers

Hi Catherine
If you open an incognito window in chrome - top right, three dots where 'history' is then the browser will have a black background.
See Screenshot.
You can see there is a popup that says 'Google wants to know your location' Just hit 'Block'
You can see it's non-locational as there is no Google My business

I've cleared my history in chrome and logged out of Google. Google still knows my location and is giving me the local pack.
Does this matter? I was hoping to see the featured snippet that Moz's KWE has detected for the KWP but that is not showing. Is that because I'm seeing the local pack.
Googling how to turn off locations has just added to my confusion as there are so many possible ways of doing it!
Could you recommend a safe way to turn on and off locations?
Thanks
Catherine

Thank you Nigel!

Hi Catherine
The best way is to go to an incognito or private browsing window in either Chrome or Firefox and clear the history in both before proceeding.
Ignore any request to view your location and search. You will get a clear result devoid of location or browsing history.

Nigel

About page showing in SERPS instead of Home page
I launched a daycare website a few months ago. For some reason Google does not like my home page. I know there is a lot more I can do to promote the website in general, but I can't figure out why, when I search for the brand name, the about page shows up followed by a few external listings, but no result for the home page anywhere. It is indeed indexed (checked site: and tried searching for an exact phrase in quotes and ran all the tests in webmaster tools), but it just isn't showing up. Can anyone see anything I'm missing? If you google "hello world daycare" (in victoria bc, canada) you'll see the about page for helloworlddaycare.com. Any help you can provide to solve this mystery would be much appretiated!

Best way to publish same content on 2 blogs?
I currently have a couple of blogs and I want to put a post on one of them and then copy it onto my other blog, but give the credit and the link back to the original (lose you yet?) I want to write a blog and publish it on my site (http://goo.gl/WRwR8) After it's on the blog on my main e-commerce site, i want to copy it onto my wordpress blog (http://goo.gl/0SSti) What is the best way to accomplish this without creating duplicate content? Is there a way to state on the second wordpress blog that this post originated from the ecommerce site? I could really use some guidance... Thanks

What is the best way to include video transcripts on your pages?
I just posted a question as a comment on this blog post (http://www.audiotranscription.org/6-reasons-you-need-to-have-your-sites-videos-transcribed/comment-page-1/#comment-4311) and realized I probably should have asked the question here because it is really SEO-related. We are in the process of transcribing all of our videos. Can you someone recommend how best to post the transcript file on our product pages? For example, here's a product page that has a video review on it: http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/behringer-x32-digital-mixing-system. Would it be best to post a link to the transcript file or insert the iframe transcript file from DotSub.com (in that case wouldn't DotSub.com be getting credit for our original content?) or, should we just let our captions on the YouTube stream from there (which is what's happening right now)? Will Google still crawl the transcript if the only place it's available is on YouTube? If so, doesn't YouTube get credited for that content, and not our site? Even if we do post a trascript on the page, if it appeared at YouTube first, wouldn't YouTube get credit for the original version? We want credit for that content...just not sure how to get it? I understand that moving to Wistia.com would probably solve most of these issues. What I'm trying to figure out is how best to handle new transcripts for existing videos over at YouTube?

CTR of Video Rich Snippet vs. Normal SERP
Hi there, We were ranking no. 1 for one of our key terms for a long time, however a competitor of ours by the looks of it purchased a load of private blog network links and managed to shift above us. The page we rank for on that term has a video with the markup to trigger a video box rich snippet (which i've noticed never seems to be given on position 1 but can be for 2 and below) - so that is now what our entry in the SERPs is. Since then we have actually dropped down to 3rd, with the web page now being in 2nd not having any new links / content in a very long time. Therefore I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about whether the video box could actually reduce CTR which could have resulted in us dropping down to 3rd ? The meta description text seems to be reduced to 100 characters with the vid box, so we're not getting our full message across where the others in the results are. My natural assumption would be that the video box would gain a higher CTR, but i'm thinking this may not be the case for us. Does anyone know of any data relating to the video box in the SERPS ? Many thanks, Stuart MtsbA.jpg

What is the best way to host a video on my site from a SEO perspective?
Hi, we are in the process of creating a video about a topic that is highly relevant for our customers. Once it is completed we want to offer the video to our customers so that they can embed it into their own websites for free. What is the best way to do this and still receive maximum SEO juice? If we use a a video service like youtube or vimeo, then the link will go to vimeo or youtube and not our site. One thing we are thinking about is asking our customers to link to our site in return for embedding the video, but if there is an automatic solution then this would be a lot better. Any tips will be highly appreciated! If you have anyother tips regarding video content then the same of course! Many thanks! Daan

Quick ways of finding out of date / inconsistent citations
Hi fellow mozzers! We are currently relaunching our website and are in the process of ensuring all our local citations are up to date and consistent. In doing so, I've noticed that there are still countless listings under our old address, which probably isn't doing our local rankings a whole world of good! I have been hunting these down by searching "company name" "old address" to bring up any references, but I wondered if there was a tool to find these quicker, in the same way Whitespark finds citation sources to begin with? Similarly, is there a tool that flags up listings that have the correct NAP info, but that has maybe been formatted differently enough so as to cause consistency probs? Thanks all!

Video SERP question
Hello MOZ Helpers.. Sometimes video results pop up in Uiversal search..for example for "recycle paint" my video for recycle paint residing on my website shows up on a Universal SERP SEE IMAGE 1..This happens even when I use an ip mask or change local..the confusing part is why my personal version trumps my youtube version SEE IMAGE 2. What metric(s) is Google using to rank videos, and what kind of benefit does this provide if the video points to your site vs. a video service like youtube or 5min? I have attached 2 images with IMGUR but search "recycle paint" to recreate [" target="_blank">>](<img src= "Hosted by imgur.com") [" target="_blank">>](img src= "Hosted by imgur.com") [http://imgur.com/tdCVM.jpg](a href= "Hosted by imgur.com")" target="_blank">a> [http://imgur.com/tdCVM.jpg](a href= "Hosted by imgur.com")" target="_blank">a> [" target="_blank">>](<img src= "Hosted by imgur.com") [" target="_blank">>](<img src= "Hosted by imgur.com") [" target="_blank">>](<img src= "Hosted by imgur.com")
