AMP for Online Forums/Communities
-
This great article by Eric Enge makes a compelling case for jumping to AMP for news sites, but does anyone have any data or have heard of an online forum using AMP as well?
I run an online community and we are thinking of making the (relatively heavy) investment into making most of our pages AMP friendly...
Thank you!

Hi Patrick,
In my opinion, implementing AMP should be considered if happens some (or all) of these scenarios:
- Mobile traffic from google is really a big percetage,
- Site speed is not good and improving AMP causes less effort and/or better improvements,
- If revenue is hurt by slow page speed.
NOT just making the effort whether other sites like yours has AMP.
Also, remember the last part of Eric's article: Making the AMP page correct, with the right user experience and that has no errors.Dont know if you've read it, a few weeks ago, there were some news about the AMP project, saying that will improve how it's URL is shown. This is: Improving URLs for AMP pages - AMPproject.org
Hope it helps.
Best luck.
GR.

Do I need title elements on all my forum pages?
I have a forum that I'm working on and there are a lot of pages that don't need to be found in search. In fact, I'm even thinking of de-indexing some of them such as the following pages: Registration Login Member Cancellation Member Billing There are also a lot of pages that are only viewable to paid members. Do they all need title tags and meta descriptions?

Pagination & Canonicals
Hi I've been looking at how we paginate our product pages & have a quick question on canonicals. Is this the right way to display.. Or should the canonical point to the main page http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/euro-containers-stacking-containers, so Google doesn't pick up duplicate meta information? Thanks!

CMS Pages - Multiple URLS (/)
Hi guys, this type of question has been asked a few times before but I couldn't find something that told me what i need so apologies if its a tad repetitive. I use Magento, and have several pages using its CMS. However, it produces 2 URLS for each page with a simple /. For example, website.com/hire

website.com/hire/ I know google treats this as 2 separate pages, which would be the better solution. 1. Write a URL re-write for every CMS page
RewriteRule ^hire$ http://www.website.com/hire/ [R=301,L] (Is this right?) 2. Write a general rewrite rule to always add the /
No idea where to begin with this 3. Add a Canonical tag to the page which i think is possible in magento by adding this to the Custom Design Layout XML option in the page CMS. <action method="addLinkRel"></action> <rel>canonical</rel> <href>http://www.website.com/hire/</href> This would make the /hire/ page self-reference and the /hire page reference the /hire/ page I think. Which one of these solutions is the best and any pointers with the coding would be grand.0 -
301's & Link Juice
So lets say we have a site that has 0 page rank (kind of new) has few incoming links, nothing significant compared to the other sites. Now from what I understand link juice flows throughout the site. So, this site is a news site, and writes sports previews and predictions and what not. After a while, a game from 2 months gets 0 hits, 0 search queries, nobody cares. Wouldn't it make sense to take that type of expired content and have it 301 to a different page. That way the more relevant content gets the juice, thus giving it a better ranking... Just wondering what everybody's thought its on this link juice thing, and what am i missing..
