Query on Product List Position After doing filters
-
Hi All,
I have implemented enhance ecommerce with tag manager now I am implementing Product List Position so I have query that if visitor do filter or do sorting via highest or lowest price at that time do we have to show List position too? If yes then how and if No then why?
Thanks!Mitesh -
Hi Trenton,
1) Can you please Elaborate more for "Better Answer"? I am really looking for solution.
- Along with above query I have query another query that for my ecommerce site that should I set position after load more? I don't have pagination. So if visitor do load more then position should start from 1 or addition to the last one before load more?
Thanks!

Hey Mitesh!
Just so I'm clear in responding, here's what I think you're wanting to know:
You are implementing Enhanced Ecommerce Tracking with Google Analytics and using Product List Position. You're asking when a visitor filters or sorts via a filter (highest, lowest, most popular, etc.) if you still need to have the List Position value.
- Short Answer: No, you do not **HAVE **to have the List Position value. It is not a required value, so the tracking (minus the Position value) will still function normally.
- Better Answer: While you don't have to, it's likely best that you do add the Position value. To ensure the best tracking and enhanced ecommerce functionality, you should make sure to always pass the most information you can. In this example, you should dynamically add the position value so that when a user filters, the list positions are still correct, even as the items change.
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any further questions on this!
Regards,
Trenton

Google Analytics View Filters
Using the same GA property, I would like to set up three filtered views: 1. Tracking across one subdomain and one primary domain (example: shop.example.com & example.com) 2. Track only primary domain (example.com) 3. Track only subdomain (shop.example.com) Can this be achieved by using view filters? If so, how do they need to be set? Also, according to this article: https://moz.com/blog/cross-domain-subdomain-tracking-in-google-analytics, with cross domain tracking, I need to ignore self-referrals, which can only be done at the property level. If set up to ignore example.com referrals, will this cause problems with filter 2 and 3?

What does WMT measure against for search query fluctuation?
Hi guys, I always thought that when checking out search queries on Webmaster Tools that it measured change per week. However, I noticed that my impressions and clicks were actually up but WMT was reporting that they were down over a week so it can't be that. Does anyone know? Attached screenshot for clarity. Thanks in advance! XkWANTo_

'Search Queries Report' in Webmaster Tools Question
Hi, How much do you use the search queries report in webmaster tools to research current rankings/movements? It does look like a great tool but the data doesn't seem to be spot on. For example a keyword over a week might have flux in position so lets say 6.0 then 9.2 for 3 days then back to 6.0. But I check the serp's for this keyword everyday and didn't see any movement?!?! Is this a good tool for you?

Google Analytics Customer filters & the correct syntax
Good afternoon from torential rain and thunder Wetherby UK 😞 Ive been delving into the world of custom filters in Google analytics and Ive hit a problem. Apart from Googles advice being out of date (wont get into that one) I wanted to set up clone a profile of an existing site and set up a filter that would exclde USA traffic. But a country can be called many things e.g. United Sates USA America so how do you know what is the correct name to put in the filter pattern box? Here is a screen shot of my efforts :http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/filter-toexclude-usatrafficcopy.jpg (I chaned it to United States) So my question is where is there a list of the correct syntax for the filter pattern box? Taker for example you wnated to set up a custom filter to include just Palm OS traffic apprently from reading this the correct filter patter is Palm OS, i only know that from this http://www.e-nor.com/blog/web-analytics/tracking-mobile-devices-in-google-analytics Whilst Google has lots of documentation about filed patterns as documented here http://support.google.com/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1034380&topic=1034830&ctx=topic Where in the name of flying spacial jockstraps is there documentation for the correct filter pattern syntax. Help my head hurts 😞

Creating a Filter in GA to track Parent Category
I don't know if the title makes sense, but here's my question... Our newspaper website has multiple categories like World, Sport, Entertainment etc. Now, a story, belonging to the entertainment section maybe published on the entertainment page but is likely to have a slot somewhere on the Home page as well as other pages. The same goes for stories in sport etc. However, the url displays the date folllowed by the post title and thats it, no category name. Now, a user may end up going to a detailed story that belongs to the entertainment section (from the home page or any other page) without actually having visited the entertainment page. However, for tracking purposes, we want to see how many hits we got on the entertainment page and any story belonging to that particular section. So, my question is how do I go about creating filters that can help me track category page and detail story hits as one? Or, should I ammend the url structure (keep in mind we are using wordpress for our news website) to include category after the date and would this solve my problem of tracking? I asked a similar question recently but maybe I did not explain myself clearly. Thanks!
