Hey,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
Open Site Explorer and the Link Analysis page of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Mozscape index, which tends to update roughly once a month.
Just a few points on how we compile our index:
-
We grab the most recent index.
-
We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains).
-
We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled ~130 billion URLs
The idea here is that we're focusing on the highest-quality links we can find, coming from the most prominent pages of authoritative sites. So, while you may not see every link for a site within our index, we're aiming to report the most valuable ones available!
Most new sites and links will be indexed by our spiders and available in Mozscape and Open Site Explorer within 60 days, but some take even longer for many reasons, including the crawl-ability of sites, the number of inbound links to them, and the depth of pages in subdirectories. This tends to bias our index in favor of newer links. Linking data is only stored in the index for about 180 days, so unless the crawler has a compelling reason to return to your site and the sites linking to yours and rediscover those links, they can fall back out of our index again.
Total links to the domain includes internal, external, follow and no followed links.
Internal links are links from one page of your website to another page of your website. This would be something like a "Contact us" link in your navigation that points to your contact page. Internal links are not only the ones in the menus, they can also be links pointing from one post on your blog to another post on your blog. You can learn more about Internal Links here.
External links, on the other hand, are links from an outside domain to your site. For example, if a page on geekwire.com linked to a page on moz.com, that would be considered an external link because it comes from a domain outside of moz.com. You can read more about External Links here.
Linking root domains simply refers to the number of unique domains that are linking to your site. A single domain can have multiple pages linking to your site, but two links from the same domain (website) would only be counted as one linking root domain. To find out more about Link Equity, check out this link! https://moz.com/learn/seo/what-is-link-equityFeel free to contact us at help@moz.com if you want us to take a look at specific results which you are getting.Looking forward to hearing from you,Eli

My site links to my clients not showing in Moz
I've got a web design business with a site that's been out there for 17 years - www.biztoolsone.com. I've got links to my clients' sites in my portfolio page. The backlinks list for my clients, when I check them in Moz, don't show the links from this site. They always showed in the list until a few months ago. The site has a DA of 59 & PA (for home page) of 50. The spam score is 0/17. I'm having a tough time telling my clients that the Moz backlinks list is accurate when that site doesn't show in the list. The same is true for www.fayettevillenc.biz - this is one I created years ago to generate backlinks. It's got a spam score of 4/17, so I'm a little more understanding of that one. Thanks for any guidance!

Is there a way to get a date of when a inbound link was created from a external website. And if so is there a way to add that to the Moz Pro tools reports on a csv file.

Moz Crawl Issue?
So I've been looking over my latest crawl and two of each category appears, the only difference between them is a / at the end, i.e. http://thespacecollective.com/space-clothing/ http://thespacecollective.com/space-clothing One brings in a 200 code while the other brings in a 301. Given that the 301 is in place I know Google won't see it as a duplicate, but I'm curious as to why Moz picks up on this and whether or not there is an issue that needs addressing here?

Do other sites linking to my page with a low domain authority affect my rankings?
Hello, my page authority 30, I see other page with an authority of 21 for example linking to us. Is this good or bad, does this affect our ranking? A lot of these don't have anchor text, I'm guessing we should reach out to these webmaster to include anchor text with the keywords we want to drive traffic to this page or make as descriptive as possible? Thanks! Laura
