Why are my total links to site going down but my average position keeps getting better on Webmaster?

Google Search Console says I have 141 Total Links. 2 months ago, I had 160 links. My average position went from 60.1 to 58.9.

At this time, I think that lots of people are seeing shrinkage in the number of links displayed for their pages in Search Console.

If you know of some really good links that you had in the past, you might check for them, both on the website that linked to you, and in Search Console.

I agree with Keri, not to worry if your site is behaving healthy.

This seems a small enough change I wouldn't worry about it. What does your traffic to your site look like? Sales?

Relaunching a site that has had thousands of posts linking to the same 20 articles. How to properly setup internal linking?

I'm in the process of relaunching a music news site (www.prefixmag.com) that once did quite well in search (over a million monthly search visits in its prime). The site got crushed by Panda, etc. and we stopped updating it. I'm starting to do more research but one thing that I noticed was we have modules in the right rail (desktop) that are found on all of our article pages that point to the same posts. (Edit: Added attachment. The links in the right rail under Editor Picks, Features, News, Media, etc. are found on every page of the site). In other words, we have thousands of posts that all link to the same 20 or so articles. Should we not do this if we're not trying to emphasize these posts in Google? Assuming this is the case, what is the proper way to do internal linking? Do we simply setup a sitemap and link to it? I'm hoping to have the thousands of articles we've published over the years have a chance to rank in search again. Also, we have a number of posts that are thin in content should those pages not be submitted in the sitemap? Thanks in advance! 2KmX0

How vital is it to get rid of spam links?

We have about 40, between 1-4 flags. Do you see this as a problem? We looked at the disavow feature, but it seems you need to be cautious about using it. Please advise. Thanks!

How much 'ranking power' would a link from a privacy policy page of a Big Brand have if the site content is totally unrelated?

Let's say that Site A is a large brand with high authority ( Moz shows it at 90 DA). Site A is about “Blue Shoes”. Site B is about “fishing”. If Site A links from their privacy policy page to Site B … would that inbound link carry enough weight in a way that could impact rankings for Site B given that the content is totally unrelated and it's a link from a privacy policy? Why so few links in webmaster tools

In Webmaster Tools it only shows one domain linking to our site totalvac.com, but we have lots of external links. Why is this?

Is link exchange a reliable source to get back links?

I read a latest post on seomoz that _“Do not buy or exchange link with anyone who contacts you. This is completely against Google's policies and if they were to find out, you could be penalized." So I went through Google's ''Link Schemes'' and found that ''Excessive link exchanging ("Link to me and I'll link to you")'' can negatively impact a site's ranking . _ So is it the ''excessive'' link exchanging that can cause a negative impact? Exchanging links with good quality, cached sites (without excessive doing) can do good or bad? Can anyone please explain to me in detail?

Google webmaster tools Who links the most updates?

Has anyone ever seen in the section in GWT "Who links the most" actually update. I have sites listed in there that had me on a blogroll so I had 93,000 links to me and they removed those links months ago but GWT still shows that number of links. Does anyone else actually see those numbers go down as links are removed?

Is it Better to Link to an Article or Post it on my Site?

I have a client who has a few articles written about her and posted on different news-related sites. She has asked me to capture these articles (we have permission) and create a section on her site for them. My question is this... From an SEO standpoint, would it be better to link _to the _articles, post them on her site or both? Or, maybe there's an even better way I'm not thinking of. Your advice is greatly appreciated. How can I reduce nofollow links to get better rankin?

In my campaign there are lots of nofollow links while my competitors dont have those links and they are better ranked in search results. What should I do to decrease thos nofollow links?
