Two websites or a sub domain or sub page?
-
Hi,
Our company has three branches in Canada and opening a 4th in the United States soon. Our target market strategy will differ in the States and I would like to know your opinion if we should launch a second site under a slightly different brand or not. I don’t want to do anything that could negatively impact our site’s current organic ranks.
I feel I have to give some history on our company so you understand the dilemma. It is a little complicated.
So, in Canada, we rent large generators and all the equipment needed to distribute and transform that power. We don’t own the generators. We re-rent generators (broker) from our partners. What we own is all the distribution equipment that typically accompanies a generator rental. We make money on the generator also, but the real money is in the distribution portion.
In terms of messaging, our current site is tuned to target the end-user, the same market that our re-rent partners target. As a result, our re-rent partners and our company will bid on the same project in many occurrences.
Our strategy in the United States is to primarily target the re-rent market. That is a very small segment in comparison to the end-user. From a marketing perspective, all that is really needed to target that group is an outside sales team. There are maybe 40 re-rent partners we will target in our first U.S. GEO… Texas.
In the States, we will not rent generators. We will not run ad campaigns that bid on any generator rental type terms. We will not offer the same level of turn-key solutions we offer in Canada. All of the equipment we manufacture will be very generic in appearance, think Acme. Branding will look completely different than what we have up in Canada. We want the re-rent companies we target in the States to feel comfortable we are there to support them not compete against them.
Regarding website strategy, I see three options:
1. We create a sub domain or sub page of www.trinitypower.com that explains the services we offer in the States. This for me is the safest solution.
2. We launch a second domain www.trinitypowerrentals.com that has similar content in-terms of the type of equipment we rent, but speaks directly to re-rent partners. That may not be enough of a differentiator though and I fear two sites owned by the same company with similar content will have negative SEO implications, if not right away, a year down the road.
3. We launch a new website under a completely different company name. This still carries some risk as I understand it, even if we have different phone numbers, company registration info, etc…
Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks everyone.

Domain
hello there, I have a 12 years old domain with 35pa and similar domain authority pointed to my hosting which I will call domain A. in December 2020 I will lose the control domain A, as the person controlling the domain died and trying to find a solution but is not possible as it's far more complicated than I anticipated, the domain might be retained by someone else and not me. so I purchased a new domain I will call Domain B. my plan is to serve the info hosted from both domains but B as a principal, I think I can do a 301 in domain A but i wish still be visible in the URL until last minute. but i want to start to pass as soon as possible all the link juice. my problems is how can i serve the content from both domains without creating a 301 but and still be able passing juice link from A to B? is this possible? and from google getting all the indexation for Domain B. bot not for A

Attacking Doorway/Thin Content pages?
What's the best way to approach fixing thin "city+services" pages? Would recommend doing one page at a time? Or doing a little on a bunch of pages at a time? For example, rewrite one page with 1,000 words of unique content, adding city specific images/videos of services rendered and local testimonials over the course of a week? Then go to the next page the following week? Or, one week add city specific images/videos to all the pages you can? Then, the next week add something else to all the pages? I'm trying to figure out the best way to scale this, and also which way google/search engines would prefer/look more kindly at? Thanks, Ruben

How to find best local websites?
For example, I'd like to type in a zipcode and get the highest ranking websites by DA/whatever metric the software uses, within a 25 mile radius? Does that type of service exist? I'm looking to build up our local links, but most of the websites have extremely low authority. I'm trying to find some good ones without having to manually check each one. Thanks, Ruben

Benefits of "Buffer Websites" Marketing for Real Estate Firm.
A local seo firm has approached us and mentioned that we should incorporate something called buffer websites into our SEO. I work with a Houston based real estate agency that sells single family homes. In a nut shell they suggested that we create 5-10 separate standalone websites that each have 40-50 pages of unique copy for specific targeted keywords of our choosing. The idea would by that all these websites and copy would all point back to our main website and help generate substantial traffic. This concepts seems to have been a couple years ago and now sure if we should go this route. Would we be better off just building unique copy on the main site and not focus on the 5-10 websites we would need to deal with? C

Domain Penalty Transfer via Redirect - WV Flooring
Hello Moz-folks, We are doing SEO for a Calgary based company - westvalleyflooring.com The domain was ranking really poorly (even though the website was structured quite well). This lead me to believe that it was penalized for poor links. I redirected the domain to westvalleyflooring.ca We also improved the website structure and content. We began building citations, and eventually, after a few months, it made into page #1. Unfortunately, after the last pinguin update, the domain virtually disappeared. We waited, but it did not become re-indexed. I elected to change the domain yet again to floorscalgary.com That domain has now been indexed, but is on page #7. We are building citations for it, but it is a little daunting because it is so far back. Right now, the redirets look like this: westvalleyflooring.com --> westvalleyflooring.ca --> floorscalgary.com Should it go like this: westvalleyflooring.com --> floorscalgary.com westvalleyflooring.ca --> floorscalgary.com Do you agree with my decision to change the domain? Thanks, Anton
