Hello Alexander!
What a cool business you have! And barn doors have definitely become the "in" thing. I'm looking at your website right now. I'm going to recommend that you hire a very good SEO company to do a one-time audit for you, Alexander. If two years of effort have not resulted in you seeing the rankings you believe you deserve and know you need, then you are almost certainly falling behind in your profit goals. While I can't match here in the forum what a real audit could do for you, I want to give you a couple of first impressions in case they are of help. Your products are really beautiful, but I see some things I'm not liking on your website, including:
-
The moving masthead, that when clicked on, makes your branding disappear and shows wood. This is likely slowing down your site speed, and doing anything that makes branding disappear alarms me. Never choose fancy features over usability. Never.
-
The feature that shows numbers loading between page clicks. I'm not sure if the idea there was to make things look fast, but, in fact, it's just drawing my attention to the fact that I'm having to wait for something to load ... even if I don't have to wait long, I feel like I'm waiting.
-
Lack of text on your homepage. It's a common mistake of visually-oriented businesses to think they shouldn't have text on their homepage. I know that minimalism can be appealing, but it's also giving you almost nothing to tell search engines or people, and nothing to optimize.
-
The product descriptions on your website show that you're taking time to be thorough, but I recommend some polishing here. I think it's awesome that the site is selling "German quality", but if the text is in English, the English needs to be error-free to ensure it's meeting Google's quality guidelines.
-
The navigation may not be ideally usable. I don't know how I did it, but I got onto a page somehow that I couldn't get back to the main site from. It was a dead-end. I'm also finding the font color of the horizontal menu a bit hard to read. I didn't notice it at first.
So, this is a start. A real audit will look at everything, but at a glance, I'm seeing some areas in which you could improve. Wishing you so much luck with your business. I really like your inventory!

Hi Alexander,
I checked out your website and you are ranking for some keywords like 'vintage sliding door hardware' and 'exterior barn door hardware'.
I see that a lot of the anchor text on your links is 'reclaimed wood wall art' so I'm guessing that's what you want to be ranking for. I can see that this is quite a competitive keyword so the sites ranking on page 1 of Google are currently stronger than your website. From a quick look it also looks like your website isn't relevant enough for this keyword i.e. it doesn't really mention the keyword in the content, titles, H1 header etc.
You will also want to make your anchor text more natural (either using your brand name or url) as using the keyword you are targeting too much can be harmful to your rankings.
In answer to your first question, yes on-page optimisation is still very important as that is what makes your website relevant for the keywords you are targeting both in the eyes of Google and your users.
In answer to your second question, it's always good to post as often as you can on your blog but what's more important is the quality and again relevance of the content you produce. You should ask yourself is this providing value, offering a new insight or answering questions that my customers might have?
I hope this helps!

My Site's Name Not Ranking in Google
Hey all, I've seen a few posts like this. But I wanted to start a new thread in hopes I may find the underlying issue. I've had my site: http://www.ctrl-alt-success.com for about 2 years. Recently I've started really adding a lot of content to it. (about 2-3 posts a week). I get zero organic views which is fine as I know it's still in the beginning. But here's my main question. If I type "ctrl-alt-success" into google. I get some site that shows up. "ctrlaltsuccess.com" I've been looking at this issue forever. That site has been "coming soon" for nearly 2 years. lol My site doesn't even show up on the first 10 pages of google. However in Bing and Yahoo it ranks on the first page. What could my site be doing wrong that it's not even ranking for the exact domain name? Keep in mind, if I google "ctrl-alt-success.com" my site comes up fine. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Any idea how Google is doing this? Is it schematic? http://techcrunch.com/2014/02/28/google-adds-full-restaurant-menus-to-its-search-results-pages/
Google is now showing menus on select searches. Any idea how they are getting this information? I would like to make sure my clients get visibility this way.

How can I make google display rich snippets when searching for my domain?
My domain is www.phraseexpander.com If I search for phraseexpander in google, I'm in the first position (as it should be) but google is not giving extra space to my result as it happens, for example, if you search for "fogbugz". Is there any way I can hep google index my contents (I currently have a site index that is created by Yoast SEO). Thanks a lot. Andrea

Only homepage in Google
Hello SEOmozzers, A colleague of mine started up a site here: www.wikiboedel.nl. Sadly only the homepage is indexed in Google. It's a wordpress install. Robots.txt seems fine, all pages are on index and follow. Can't see why only the home is indexed in Google. Do you know whats going wrong? Please tell me. Tank you.

Replacing website, same URL, lose ranking
We had to do a rush job for a client and get a website up very quickly. We had to just replace the existing files on the server, but URL stayed the same. Now "teeth whitening glasgow" which they were number #1 for isn't coming up. Know there is still some on page work to be done - but the link profile should still remain the same? Just looking for some advice to get back to where they were - should we do a website change of address or just verify the site in Webmaster and get all the on page done? Thanks, Laura

Would adding a line break tag into the product name affect SEO ranking and Google's ability to read the entire title?
Our client would like to include a link break so that part of the product name always showed up on a second line. Would this affect how Google bots crawl the product name? Would it also affect how Google would show the product name in a search result page? Thanks!
