Should I submit the same blog post on Linkedin as an article with permalink?
-
Hello All,
I just want to know that is it the right way in SEO to submit the same blog post as an article on Linkedin or other social sites or article sites.
-
Hi Bimal,
I understand that you wish to understand how to use an existing good blog content on LinkedIn. Whether to use it completely as an article on LinkedIn or link to your blog or some content with 'read more' link pointing to the blog.
Linkedin can be a good place to promote relevant content as there are real people using it and that too being a social network, it can help promote the content to the more similar audience on the article itself.
Advantages
- Your profile and previous articles get highlighted, increasing the chances that people will read more than just the 1 article. Your own presence and branding gets a boost.
- There are several opportunities that people who liked your article once, will get to see more of your content later, they can also follow you.
- Your reach to potential targets is increased.
Possible Disadvantages
- The articles will face competition from other content, and they might get lost if not backed by LinkedIn marketing strategy for these articles.
- Your readership might remain on LinkedIn and if you don’t incentivize them to visit your website.
DUPLICATE CONTENT OR NOT:
I have done my research and there are many articles which are published both on websites and LinkedIn without getting penalized. Preferably linking them via a permalink is a good solution for Google to realize that the content is coming from same person/ website/ company/brand.I hope this helps and let me know if you have further queries.
Regards,
Vijay

Hi Birmal, thanks for your question! To be honest, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. Did you see the responses from Pau and Nicholas? We'd love to get some clarification about what you are asking so we can help, thanks!

Posting on Linkedin won't directly affect your SEO or rankings. However, if you have a relevant blog post it is a good idea to share it with relevent hashtags to generate more referral traffic to your website.

Hi, just add a short description with the link, and include hashtags of the topic. ¿Is this what you were asking?

ECommerce Configurable vs a lot of articles
Hey Moz Community! We have a eCommerce Store with a ton of articles/products. And we have a lot of Brands/Manufactures for Flavors with different tastes. As example we have a Brand Called "Copy cat" with 60 different flavors, and their product names are "copy cat xyz flavor". Currently we have for each flavor a single product created, so i guess we have a lot of duplicated keywords [copy cat] flavorname [flavor] + generell manufacturer content in the product descriptions. While thinking about it, i thought about to merge all those articles to configurable articles. So we have 1 Copy Cat article with some kind of a dropdown selection for the different flavor. Does anyone have experience with this? How will the User Experience change? (we are using elastic search, it's including the variations of products - so the search wouldnt be affected)

Use of Keywords throughout articles
Hi everyone, I have another (very basic) question! It's about the use of keywords throughout articles - is it worthwhile putting keywords and associated phrases in bold and italic and also underlining them at various points throughout my website articles? I have read that this helps google to know what the article is about. Any comments would be much appreciated!

LinkedIn Versus Google Adwords for B to B Advertising
Does anyone have experience with LinkedIn and Google Adwords for B+B advertising? I own a commercial real estate agency in Manhattan. We aim to generate qualified leads of business tenants seeking to rent office or loft space. The advertising is not meant to build an image or branding. Approximate total adverting budget is $3,000-$5,000/month. LinkedIn appears to have the advantage in being able to target a particular demographic (industry, geography, job function, size of company). But I wonder if it is not geared towards branding rather than generating warm leads. In terms of cost and quality of leads does anyone have insight as to how these two platforms compare? Thanks, Alan Rosinsky

What happens now? Guest blogging dead?
Today, Matt Cutts published an article on his blog saying pretty much "Guest blogging is dead". Seemed a little harsh to me, but what happens now? Is GOOD guest blogging still allowed or will it be seen as spam too? I even picked up a chatter on Twitter about YouMoz: https://twitter.com/rustybrick/status/425374254465445888

Is it OK to have two similar business sites share their Social Media (just one FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)?
These two businesses are owned by the same company (industry is event planning). The parent company has been in business 20+ years and caters to a corporate crowd and the more recent company started by the parent caters to consumers (weddings). Would this have any negative seo implications if they share social media accounts? or is this perhaps just more of a strategic issue i gather. And i would gather that its best for each to have their own blog. Would greatly appreciate some insight! Thanks, Christian

Problems with changing blog from example.com/blog to blog.example.com
Currently we have a Wordpress blog on a domain subdirectory ie example.com/blog. We are possibly going to change it to blog.example.com in order to move it off the server for security reasons. I know it benefits the sites SEO as a whole to host the blog on a subdirectory instead of a subdomain, but I am wondering if there is a best way to make this move if we have to? Any thoughts are welcome.

Tips for promoting the blog section of our eCommerce site
Hi, With the recent Google updates we're thinking that unique content is more important than ever in order to gain high quality, natural links from genuine users. As such we're thinking that our blog (http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/igloo/) might be more important than ever. Don't be put off by the lack of Page Authority or Google Page Rank; we've only just moved to this address from the subdomain igloo.refreshcartridges.co.uk. The content is certainly rather niche; an article like http://www.refreshcartridges.co.uk/igloo/how-to-the-reset-purge-counter-on-a-brother-printer-with-a-numerical-pad/ will be helpful to thousands of users who own this particular range of printer but it's debatable as to whether it is sufficiently mainstream to be openly shared and linked to. We ping to sites such as Technorati, produce videos to accompany much of the content (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dxmm4-blN8&list=UUH93Kwax4CcEIAOsXWb6CiA&index=1&feature=plcp for example) and provide easy sharing buttons. I do however think that we could be doing more to actively ‘push’ this content on to potential customers. I'm not naive enough to think that niche articles like this will be enough to get hundreds of links and tens of thousands of reads but printer news, reviews and support is pretty much the only thing we can write about while being relevant to our core business. I would however like to get the best exposure that we can for these articles which is why I’m asking for your advice today. I would really appreciate any ideas you may have as to how else we could gain the best value from these unique articles and videos. I apologise for this being such an open ended question but any and all advice on how to maximise this resource would be appreciated. Many thanks!

Use blog.domain.com or socialbrand.com?
I've got a little bit of a dilemma. A company I'm working for has an ecommerce site that is moving to Volusion. It is impossible to add "domain.com/blog" so I am forced to use a subdomain in order to keep consistency. We are starting a push in Social media and have secured shorter handles for the brand to use on the different networks. One of the main goals originally for developing a blog is to build trust but since the domain names are so big (26 characters) and the ecommerce sites already have a good amount of trust building factors in them I am beginning to question my original plan. My question is this: If I go with a shorter brand recognized domain name to develop the blog on which is different than the ecommerce domain (keyword matched) will I loose too much trust and ranking opportunity because of the difference in domains. I know there isn't a golden bullet for this question but i would love to get you your take on it.
