Very relevant (perhaps only) original content disappears/doing very bad on google search
-
Hi
I know this is a general question and there multiple like it. I've read a lot over the years, but can't figure it out.
1. The site in question is https://www.glj.io which had the above problem for years. I've recently revamped it and ready to try again.
2. The specific page is this one which is a review for laptop model G3 3579 from Dell. It was posted about two weeks ago, and it's still the only in-depth review in English, it seems. However, beyond the first 1-3 days, it's been lowered in rank and finally disappeared.
That happened with other articles as well, over the years.
3. When searching, for example, for "Dell G3 3579 Review", another post of mine shows up in the 1/2 places - just a general short one mentioning the "G3" (this one), instead the full in-depth review. That it make no sense.
4. Currently, the review itself doesn't show up at all, not at page 2/3 (which is bad anyway)
Can anyone shed some light on the situation? or offer pro services for it? It's very frustrating, basically making all my efforts go down in the dunk..
Much appreciated!

Hi glj
Maybe I can help.
When you search 'Dell G3 15 3579 review' the new review page is 6th
When you search 'Dell G3 3579 review' the older page comes up at position 1So you essentially have two different (albeit closely related) keywords. One with the 15 in and one without.
Dell G3 3579 review is sixth because you have very similar content on the Dell G3 15 3579 page. You are cannibalizing/diluting the page strength of this content with the new review.
If you really must have this page: https://www.glj.io/dell-g7-g5-g3-gaming-laptops-whats-really-the-difference/ (which has '3579' 31 times in the HTML! ) - then make just one reference to Dell G3 3579 and use that as an anchor to link to the new page. Also use the shorter keyword 'Dell G3 3579 review' with and without the word 'review' on that new page + an Alt in an image. You will then strengthen that page for the shorter search.
It is quite common for blogs to duplicate content in this way. You just need to be aware that mentioning the Dell G3 3579 one page has an effect on the other.
I hope this help,
Regards
Nigel

U.S. Vs. Canada search volume
How does Moz differentiate Canadian data vs. U.S. data? I'm particularly interested in search volume. Why is there such a big difference in volume (much less in Canada)? Is this due to population differences or are there other factors? For example, see the monthly volume for the keyword "Business resilience": U.S. = 360

Google Webmaster Keyword Significance.
In my google webmaster tools the most significant keyword google attaches to my site is word 'VAT' as in, Value Added Tax. Followed by Basket. I can see why this is, as the word VAT and Basket is on every product page, but it really is not a keyword I want to target. Does this have any negative effect on other keywords I am targeting? What should I do about this? Here is the site: https://www.loveelectronics.co.uk

How does Google treat the symbols ® and ™ if they are part of keyword?
For example: As a keyword, is "Cisco®" the same as "Cisco"? I tried a couple of things to find out: 1. I put both keywords in Google adwords tool. Google displayed search volume data only for Cisco. That means it ignores the ® symbol. 2. I typed in Cisco® and Cisco in Google search. of SERPs are the same. And the first page results are almost same excpet for Google Places listings. Based on above two observations, I think that Google treats Cisco® and Cisco in the same manner. So if we optimize a page for Cisco®, we will get benefit for the keyword Cisco as well. Does anybody has any other experience? (Note: the keyword used here(Cisco) is just an example. Thanks, Supriya.
