Alt tags advice
-
Hello,
When describe an alt tag from what I understand you need to put your keyword when you can and not literally describe the image.
For example let's say I have a picture with 2 cyclists on a road in the dolomites. I would tend to describe it saying " 2 cyclists riding in the dolomites"
But for google it is better to describe it saying "Bike riding in Italy and through the dolomites" based on the fact that I am looking to rank on "italy bike tours"
Isn't it ?
Thank you,
-
Yes that's right.
But there are better ways of researching keywords. My favourites in order:
Google search
Moz keyword explorer.I shot a video of it here for page titles: https://carouselprojects.co.uk/crafting-killer-meta-titles/
This is for the beginner but I hope it's informative

Ok, thanks.
By the way I was reading the link you send a while ago about rank brain https://backlinko.com/google-rankbrain-seo
and got a question about the last slide when it talks about watson natural language.
The concepts that are found when I click on the tab concepts are found based on the keywords that are in the keyword tab, correct ?
-
Hi
yes exactly - make teh feature image or if it's a single image on a page, the primary keyword.

So you confirm it is mistake to write 2 cyclists riding up a road in the dolomites because it describes the cyclists and isn't a related keyword to my target keyword, correct ?
Thank you Nigel,

Hi SEO analytics
I would Alt the image "Italy Bike Tours"
I would simply put the primary keyword in here for the main or featured image.
Secondary images can help support this so, yes for other images 'cycling through Italy', 'Bike riding in Italy' just don't make them too long.
Think of these as keywords for the images to be found, so the more succinct the keywords used and the better searched - then the easier they will be found in Google image search and the better they will help the SEO of the page.
Regards Nigel

Do we use our main keyword only for alt tags for all images on the page?

Can I put the company name in the image alt text instead of just the service type im trying to rank for?
Hello, if I am trying to rank for a service type and the exact phrase is in the companies name, can I put the company name in the image alt text instead of just the service type? Seizing the opportunity to get another mention of the businesses name...two birds with the one stone if you will... For example, "lawn cutting" being the service type but the company's name is Paul's lawn cutting. Could i put Pauls Lawn Cutting in the image alt text, or just stick to lawn cutting? Thanks in advance

Title tag terminology on website
Hi,
On-Page Optimization | | KasperGJ
I own a website (www.maleribasen.dk), which i'm currently making SEO on. The site actually ranks pretty good, top 1-2 on important searches. The title tag on the frontpage (and lots of other pages too) are "Maleribasen.dk - Buy and sell paintings" (translatated from danish - Maleri means painting). I'm thinking of changing the titles to "Buy and sell paintings | Maleribasen.dk" And then try to use the convention "| Maleribasen.dk" on every other title page. Sometimes use "Buy and sell paintings | Maleribasen.dk" as convention when title is too small. Like the overview of articles would be something like "Articles - Buy and sell paintings | Maleribasen.dk" A specific article would be "How to paint using oil painting | Maleribasen.dk" What do you guys think?0 -

H1 tag mandatory?
Hi there! Is a mandatory to fullfill the H1 tag in order to improve SEO? I mean I'm in the case where the keyword selected is appropiate to optimize the page but not appropiate to be in H1 tag 'cause it probably "doesn't sound good" to the user. Is it enought to be present in the url, title and description?Any suggestion? Thanks in advanced.

Are H1 tags important or influential?
We are in the process of correcting our site in hopes that Google will rank us higher in the SERP. We have many pages that have multiple H1 tags or no H1 tag at all. How important is the H1 tag? Will it help us increase our ranking on Google? Thanks
