Is it better to develop a good keyword I found on a new page on an established website or make a new site?
-
So I found a keyword that I want to go after, it gets over 30k searches a month, has a 100% CTR and has a difficulty of 42. Now my question is would it be better to build a page on our already established site (DA of 46) since the site and keyword are both related. Or would it be better to get a domain of that keyword and build a small site about it?
The .com is taken but I could get a .co or .us just not sure if its worth making a new site or if I should just build a page on my current site about it.

Hi Nigel,
obviously the content shouldn't be the same. There are many things to say about each topic, or many ways to say similar things without saying the same...

Pau - Doing both is not correct - why would he out link to a new domain? That would split the content across two sites site, one established and one new. It would damage both sites having the same content on two different pages cross-site.

Hi
It is 100x better to add this to an existing site. If you start again it can take a year to properly establish a completely new site with no DA. Not to mention the upkeep and maintenance of a new website!
This is a no-brainer especially if the topics are related. Just make sure there are no other pages on your site which crossover with this keyword otherwise you may not achieve teh rankings you expect. If you do it properly it could be ranking within a week.
I hope this helps

Hi americancasinoguide,
you also can do both things, build and page on your site, and put in that page a backlink to your new domain.
About the importance of the keyword in the domain I thought that I was not important since some years ago, but I saw on a very interesting Semrush study from June 2017 (https://es.semrush.com/ranking-factors/) that all the important factors in these days are less important for the first position, because Google places much times in the first position a less popular site than others, but with a domain or brand that matches with de search made.
So, you have a very good base to go with your old domain, but I wouldn't discard to make a new one, and give the link juice of your old domain to your new one with a backlink placed in the most topic-related page.
Hope it helps!

Hi;
I agree with Matt. It will take some time to get a new site up to a DA of 42, and the DA plays a meaningful role in your SERP. A new page with long form content about the desired keyword is the best place to start.
Good Luck

From what I have seen and read, the keyword in the domain name is less important these days. I would use the already established site that is topically relevant. Here's a good WBF that might help: https://youtu.be/8r4Z3PizZ9g

New Penguin
I just read that a new Penguin might be coming up. My question is : Can you rank if you have good content but bad links ? In other words does the content quality take over the link quality or will google penalize you for the quality of your links even though your content is great and deserves to rank ? Thank you,

Competitiors high Pinterest page authority doesnt make sense to me
I have seen that a competitor has a link from Pinterest as does the site I am promoting but the competitors page authority on their Pinterest page is 51 versus mine at just 1. Have checked the backlinks to their Pinterest page and there are 156 sitewide links all from the competitors own domain which has DA of 17. Their Pinterest page wasn't published that long ago, has 2 followers and just a handful of pins. Could I get some help to understand what could be the cause of this higher page authority please?

Typically when using Open Site Explorer to analyze links, how long does it take for them to show up? I have some links that are on high page ranking sites, yet they still do not show up with the Open Site Explorer. Thank you

Retain keywords with redirect
I manage a site the sells product A and product B (both major keywords for us). If I buy the url www.productB.com and redirect it to the original website, would the original website gain any benefits in search engines? Would the benefits of having a url with the keyword be lessened because there isn't content hosted there, only a redirect to the original site?
