How to Rank Local Website in Search Engines?

Hello,
I'm the owner of a rubbish removal company based in London - Frank Rubbish Removal and trying to optimize the website of the company for search engines. Until now, I have hired a couple marketing companies but without success. What I want to achieve is to rank for local keywords in the rubbish removal niche, for example, Rubbish Removal Chelsea, waste clearance Hackney, waste removal Harrow...and similar local keywords. I have spent a lot of money on marketing companies and the website still can't go on 1st page of search engines in the UK. Can you tell me what I can do or who can hire to bring my website on 1st page for the local keywords?

As I understand your question, you are offering a service in a large city with several hundred districts, and you are hoping to rank for your service in multiple districts. There will be several facets to the advice I can give you about this.

If you are trying to rank in the organic results for these districts, your ability to do so will be based on a combination of domain authority, page authority, links, optimization, website content and user behavior.

If you are trying to rank in the local results for these terms, everything in #1 applies, plus other factors like reviews and citations, but you must also take into account the role user proximity plays in local rankings. If you are physically located in district A and your potential customer is located in district B, Google simply may not show you in the local results for that user, because they are not physically near your business at the time of search. Where competition is low or weak, it is sometimes possible for a business to rank locally in multiple districts of a large city, but if competition is stiff, it will be an uphill battle to overcome Google's extreme bias towards user proximity.

Whether you are hoping to rank organically or locally, your key here will be to do a competitive audit of the businesses outranking you to see how their metrics for each surmised ranking factor outweigh yours. You will tally this up with software or in a spreadsheet and this is what should set the strategy that you or any marketer you hire will enact so that your metrics can compete with and eventually surpass those of the businesses currently outranking you. *However, there may be some things you simply can't overcome, like user proximity. Where organic/local efforts fail, your alternatives are PPC, social and offline marketing to reach audiences you just can't access via SEO .

I would advise you to closely study the most recent Local Search Ranking Factors survey to see which factors expert local SEOs feel have most impact on local and localized-organic results. You will want to familiarize yourself with each factor, and most of them should be in your competitive audit process. I will also link you here to a post I wrote two years ago containing a spreadsheet for a competitive local business audit, but I want to mention that there are some new factors I'd be adding to that in 2019. Nevertheless, it will give you a good idea of what an audit should look like.

At the end of the above process, what you'd want to have is a list of tasks and goals, including a list of goals that aren't going to be achievable so that you don't waste time or money on pursing them with tactics that won't actually work. By studying the SERPs and your competitors, you should begin to have a strong sense of which districts you may be able to achieve a strong local and organic presence in, and which districts may be beyond the reach of SEO, making it more sensible for you to attempt to reach those desired audiences with PPC, social or offline outreach.

Getting the Proper CCTLDs & Subdomains to Rank in the Proper Countries
We seem to be having a really difficult time getting Google to do what we want in regards to getting proper domains indexed in the proper countries. In regards to English language, we tend to see a tremendous amount of crossover between .com, .in, and .co.uk. And yes international targeting is put in place. For example, both our .com and co.uk websites are in english and when someone enters a search query for one of our particular products, the .com website shows up to users in the UK. The countries with the hardest time are as follows and typically find them competing primarily with .com, but others can interlope as well. **All primarily in English: ** Canada UK India Australia Any ideas on how we can get this aligned correctly to where we can get the proper CCTLD to show up in the correct country instead of the .com?

Home Page Not Ranking for Brand
I've got an odd issue (that I've never encountered in 12+ years in SEO). A client's home page isn't ranking for their brand term. It's a medical spa in Las Vegas, so physical location that takes online appointments. We have an online booking system (which isn't a good one) that originally had a booking page replacing our home page. My thought is that Google associated that page as our home page because it was a stronger domain and the booking page is most used. That tool didn't allow the booking page to be noindexed (I know, crazy)- so I changed the name inside the booking tool away from the brand name as to not have both the site and the booking site optimized for the brand. Other things I've checked: The home page is indexed Home page canonical tag points to itself Title tag contains brand name at front (rest of site it's at the end) Robots.txt is accurate (allows home page) XML sitemap contains home page (and accurate for other pages) To make this even more confusing, if you search the brand name the physical location appears on the right rail with accurate URL. Any other ideas that I may be missing?

More pages on website better for SEO?
Hi all, Is creating more pages better for SEO? Of course the pages being valuable content. Is this because you want the user to spend as much time as possible on your site. A lot of my competitors websites seem to have more pages than mine and their domain authorities are higher, for example the services we provide are all on one page and for my competitors each services as its own page. Can you recommend any widgets or additions for a local landing page?
Our company has locations in several different cities, and we're in the process of creating landing pages for each city that feature relevant information. We use Drupal, fwiw. In the past, we've talked about trying to include a local weather widget, a news widget, or something similar as a way to help improve our local rankings for each area. Have you used anything like that? What did you find to be effective? Can you recommend anything similar? Thanks!

Local seo landing pages and proper keywords to optimize and showing up for generic keyword localized results
looking for advice. I have my site built into landing pages for each city I service. Would it effect my seo in a negative way if I built other landing pages with "keyword + zip code" as well as the city ones I already have or do you think it would make my city rankings worst? Also how do you get a seo city landing page to show up for the "keyword" or "keyword near me" in the city of interest? Is making landing pages with "keyword + city" sufficient way to accomplish this or is there a trick I am unaware of?

Website and eshop with the same product descrition is duplicate content
Hi there! I'm building a website that is divided in a "marketing" and "shop" sections. The 2 sites are being authored by two companies (my company is doing the marketing one). The marketing site has all the company products while the shop will sell just some of those. I'm facing the problem of duplicated content and want to ask you guys if it will be a problem/mistake to use the same product description (and similar url) for the same product in both sites, and the right way to do it (without rewriting product descriptions). the main site will be : www.companyname.com
