Homepage not showing up for Brand/Any keywords (on Google) all of a sudden
-
The homepage to this website is crawled and indexed, however, it's not showing up for any searches, even brand searches (eg: Klay schools). This happened overnight. Do you know what the underlying issue could be? Link to the homepage: https://www.klayschools.com/

Not a problem!

Thanks a lot for such a detailed explanation.
We are looking into the issue and will try to solve the "site-wide linking" issue as soon as possible.
This helped a lot. Thank you once again.

I'm wondering if for some reason, you haven't received the penalty notice yet, or the penalty notice has been placed in another version of your site's Search Console properties. Most sites should be registered at least four times in Search Console (e.g: https://www.klayschools.com/, http://www.klayschools.com/, https://klayschools.com/ and http://klayschools.com/) - unless you have the new domain-level Search Console property (most people still have 4+ separate properties instead of the new domain one, as it's harder to register)
The reason I'm still considering a penalty is this:
https://d.pr/i/3mtYmf.png (screenshot from Ahrefs) - which looks really unnatural in terms of link destruction and growth
Possibly Google is processing all of that and deciding upon a manual action, or has already applied one which you aren't seeing if you are looking in the wrong version of Search Console. If someone made loads of links to an old architecture of your site, the penalty would likely appear in _that _version of your Search Console (rather than the active version). One step you should take is to register all four basic site variants in GSC (Google Search Console) just to be sure and rule this out
Most of the steep link increases _seem _to have occurred between 1st September 2019 and 5th October 2019
I have exported this data for you, to CSV format, which can be opened in MS Excel:
https://d.pr/f/dy8zWI.csv (data sheet)
What I can tell you with a basic pivot of linking domains is:
https://d.pr/i/unzCd6.png (screenshot of chart)
... between 1st September 2019 and 5th October 2019, your domain gained thousands of backlinks and 97% of them were from the same site (parentedge.in). It might even just be one link that replicates itself thousands of times (like a footer link or something). In general, Google doesn't like 'site-wide linking' very much, as it skews their algorithms
I can tell you that these links have been left 'followed' (meaning they could impact Google's rankings) and most of them are image-based links
This might be the one causing you some problems:

Hope that helps

Thanks for the response.
All technical errors have been solved on the website and webmaster does not show any penalty too. Could there be anything else?
-
Thanks for the response.
This problem had never occurred before even though the title and description was the same. Will change it ad see if there's a difference. Thank you.

Check your messages in search console under 'legacy', see if you have a penalty. If one of our sites completely bounced out like that overnight, I'd firstly check for manual actions from Google!

It looks like your homepage Meta Title is "Top PreSchool and Daycare in India - Become a Klay Kid today!", and does not say Klay School in it. It also appears Klay School is not in any of your H2s or the H1 of the website. I would recommend changing the Meta Title and/or the H1/H2s to include "Klay School" if you want to rank for it. Once changed, you can then re-index your website with the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console.

Fetch as Google showing Tablet View, not Desktop View
Hi Mozers, Fetch as Google is showing Tablet view and not Desktop view. Does anyone know why this is? And does that mean that Googlebot is reading the Tablet version instead of the Desktop version (same HTML but different visualization)? Thanks!! Yael

Hyphens in Keyword
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any experience of whether Google treats keywords with hyphens differently. One of my websites main keywords is 'buy to let', however all across our website it is referred to as 'buy-to-let'. People always search without the hyphens. I recently heard that Google may only treat us as a highly relevant match and not an exact match for this keyword. I was wondering if anyone had any experience of this, and what is the best course of action to take. Thanks

Https://www.mywebsite.com/blog/tag/wolf/ setting tag pages as blog corner stone article?
We do not have enough content rich page to target all of our keywords. Because of that My SEO guy wants to set some corner stone blog articles in order to rank them for certain key words on Google. He is asking me to use the following rule in our article writing(We have blog on our website):
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | AlirezaHamidian
For example in our articles when we use keyword "wolf", link them to the blog page:
https://www.mywebsite.com/blog/tag/wolf/
It seems like a good idea because in the tag page there are lots of material with the Keyword "wolf" . But the problem is when I search for keyword "wolf" for example on the Google, some other blog pages are ranked higher than this tag page. But he tells me in long run it is a better strategy. Any idea on this?0 -
Will aggressive use of branded keywords in anchor text attract Penguin’s wrath?
I'm working on a site for a serviced apartment site http://www.alcove.co.in/ which offers apartments in 9 cities in India. Site was ranking in 1st page of Google for “serviced apartment + city” for 7 cities until sometime in Jan 2013. However organic traffic has been gradually falling since sometime in September 2012 (40% fall this month over same period last year). There’s been no sudden fall in traffic which we may link with any Penguin update. There have been no warning messages in Google WMT. Even today the site ranks in 1st page for 3 cities; however ‘Serviced apartments bangalore’ which was the biggest revenue earner, is not ranked in first 5 pages. My questions are whether will aggressive use of branded keywords in anchor text will attract Penguin’s wrath, does Google makes allowance for case when company's name includes keywords. In our case, company name is Alcove Service apartments, could there be some other reason for fall in ranking/traffic? The distribution of anchors (external links, multiple links from same domain are counted) is : percent
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | anand53
Keywords 34%
brand+keywords 43%
Natural 4%
only brand 11%
URL 7% For the above, Brand = ‘Alcove Service apartments’ or ‘Alcove Serviced apartments’ brand+keywords = various combinations of ‘alcove’ + [‘guest houses’ or ‘hotels’ or ‘accommodation’] + city1 + city2… Intriguingly, Open Site Explorer analysis of domain metrics (Domain Authority, Followed Linking Root Domains, etc) ranks Alcove higher than all but one site appearing in 1st page of Google for ‘Serviced apartments bangalore’. Most of alcove’s links are from article directories (no spun articles were used), directories and link exchanges with relevant sites. Any suggestions and guidance on what we could do to remedy the situation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks0 -
Why is google ranking me higher for pages that aren't optimised for keywords those that are?
I am finding that our homepage and other pages are being ranked higher against keywords that we have optimised other pages for. e.g Keyword: Luxury Towels Google Ranks our homepage http://www.towelsrus.co.uk at 20 for this and the page I am trying to rank for it is nowhere to be seen http://www.towelsrus.co.uk/sport-spa/luxury-towels/catlist_fnct498.htm Why is this and is this why our position for certain keywords fluctuates? How do I remedy this problem?

In "links to your site" how does Google Webmasters determine the order of the URLs? By influence? Quality?
