How to check if my website is penalized ?
-
Hi all,
I just went over some post that my page can get penalized for over optimizing.
I realized my page has quite a lot of h1 (6 it had 30) and a lot of "bold" keywords, does the bolding affect the page seo/penalizing the page?
the page im talking about it palmislander.com/dumaguete-travel-guide
Thanks
-
That link you placed to your site is no follow btw.
-
You should wait some time and try to share your website on social media to get related traffic.
-
Yes correct, I believe back links are links to my site from external sources, how could I have more back links?
Also I did keyword research however when I type the keyword let's say "Bari travel guide" in incognito my website does not show up at all even at 15th Google page, so I'm not sure how to check if my website shows up at all for specific keyword
-
Absolutely, you're welcome. At least you know there are no major technical issues. Have you done any keyword research? Are the terms you're targeting too competitive? I noticed you don't have a ton of backlinks and you seem to be targeting the travel niche.
That could be one issue.

I have run the checklist and it seems to everything be a pass.
I also noticed that the "URL is not on google" was because i didnt put "/" at the end of link if i put the / then it shows all good.
The pages also shows up on google at "site:" so looks like everything is right and working, its just that my pages are not really optimized well so people dont see it on google. I have only about 8 impressions over past 20 days and no clicks
Will have to work on my seo i think, but i already did not sure what im missing
Thanks for helping

I would recommend running your site through a technical audit. Here's a good template for that: https://www.distilled.net/technical-seo-audit-checklist/

Hey,
This site has been online since 2019 January, so its not that new. I'm pretty sure it's something wrong with my site but i'm not sure yet what.
-
Hey, I took a look and it looks like your site is fairly new. It's likely Google is still crawling and slowly indexing content on your site.
I'd use a web crawler like Moz and/or Screaming Frog and make sure all the pages are easily accessible. Also, try requesting the "Live URL" in Search Console to see how Googlebot views the page. You should also double-check to make sure your XML sitemap is up to date and submitted in Search Console.
Also, it just takes time for a new site to get indexed and ranked. I know it sucks but it doesn't happen overnight and you have to be patient. Keep producing good content and try to build some initial backlinks to get started.
Best of luck!

Hi there,
Thanks for replying and helping.
I have checked in the console and i think the problem that no one can find my web pages is because in the console my URL is "URL is not on Google" I try requesting the index without success
How can i fix this ?
-
Sometimes if you have a manual penalty you will receive a message through Search Console. Other times you'll have to pay close attention to your organic traffic and rankings to see if you've been impacted by any recent algorithm updates.
I've never heard of a site being penalized from bolding too many keywords but I'd pay special attention to how you acquire backlinks and make sure you're producing unique content.
Out of curiosity have you noticed any drastic drops in rankings or organic traffic to warrant your site being penalized?
-
I've never seen ranking drops because of bolding too many words. As long as it looks good to a human, I wouldn't worry about it.

Car Dealership website - Duplicate Page Content Issues
Hi, I am currently working on a large car dealership website. I have just had a Moz crawl through and its flagging a lot of duplicate page content issues, these are mostly for used car pages. How can I get round this as the site stocks many of the same car, model, colour, age, millage etc. Only unique thing about them is the reg plate. How do I get past this duplicate issue if all the info is relatively the same? Anyone experienced this issue when working on a car dealership website? Thank you.

Hreflang and canonical for multi-language website
Hi all, We're about to have a new website in different languages and locations, which will replace the existing one. Lets say the domain name is example.com. the US version will be example.com/en-us/ and the UK version will be example.com/en-uk/. Some of the pages on both version share the same content. So in order to solve it, we're about to use hreflang on each page + a canonical tag which will always use the US address as canonical address. My question is - since we are using canonical tag along with hreflang, is there a possibility that a user who is searching with Google.co.uk will get the canonical US address instead of the UK address? Or maybe the search engine will know to display the right localized address since (UK) i've been using hreflang? It is really important for me to know, because i'm afraid we will lose the high rankings that we have right now on google.co.uk. Thanks in Advance

Websites that scroll....forever....
I'm seeing more and more websites that have all their content on one page. I came across www.otbthink.com today and am wondering if I'm missing something here. I ask this because I am trying to figure out how to link to their copy writing portion of their website. I have a client that is in their area and needs someone to do some copy writing work for them. All the content there is being served through css. The search engines will see it but how do you optimize for this sort of site? How do you link to a particular section of this site? Am I missing something obvious here? Thanks.

Mysterious drop of website ranking in google
Usually, I don't want to bother anybody by posting silly questions on forums. But this time I really might need advice. My wife and I took over the website maintenance and e-marketing of a local air conditioning company end of March this year. Before that the applied SEO strategies were not very user friendly and a little too search engine focused (spammy keyword stuffed articles, confusing website structure, a lot of directory links). Yesterday night (May 15th) the website more or less stopped ranking. For search terms like "ac repair englewood fl" or "trane north port" and many more the website was on page 1. Here are some more details: I replaced the old website with a newer version end of April. Since some of old the url structure did not apply any longer, I did a setup of around 30 301-redirects in .htaccess. The new site seemed to rank more or less as expected. The homepage has a PakeRank of 1 (seomoz Page Authority is 31). I am working on that but good natural links just take some time. site:kobiecomplete.com still brings up all the pages Google Webmaster Tools notified me on May 12th that there was a possible outage: _"_While crawling your site, we have noticed an increase in the number of transient soft 404 errors around 2012-05-08 16:00 UTC (London, Dublin, Edinburgh). Your site may have experienced outages. These issues may have been resolved. Here are some sample pages that resulted in soft 404 errors:" The listed pages under "some sample pages" are only pages from the old website which do not exist any longer and the 301 redirect was not setup. But this should have been already any issue before, if at all.

I added the missing 301 redirects and marked them as fixed in Google Webmaster Tools. I had a copy of the website on a testing webspace (root directory of brightsidewg.com). Even though I had robots.txt set to disallow everything and WordPress search engine privacy set to do not index / follow, the website appeared on the Google search results yesterday night instead of the original website (kobiecomplete.com). Even though brightsidewg was a few ranks worse than kobiecomplete.com was, it was still ranking.
To remove the duplicate content, I deleted everything on brightsidewg.com and requested the removal of the website in the Webmaster Tools. Now brightsidewg.com is not any longer indexed (good) but it didn't help the ranking of kobiecomplete.com. Especially the homepage and the service area pages were ranking pretty decent on Google before yesterday night. Now I can not find them at all. Only other less important pages rank on page 8+ No malware on website I did not do any big changes on the website yesterday (only really minor ones). I did not acquire any weird/paid links even though there is a new link from a PageRank 0 website which I did not setup: http://www.indo-karya.com/detail/news/2012/kombise But that alone I think would not be enough for a penalty. It almost looks like that Google applied a partial -950 filter!? I could submit the website for reconsideration to Google and tell them about the duplicate content issue with my testing webspace brightsidewg.com. What do you think about it and what shall I do? Thank you so much for any help!0 -
Website IP Location
My main target audience is in the UK, but my website's IP is in the United States. Would it be worthwhile to change the IP to a UK address? How would I go about that? Thanks!
