Help with website
-
Hello, I've been trying to get our website on 1st place (or at least 1st page to start) on several keywords, on google in all English speaking countries. In most of them I managed, but in USA I'm on 5th page. By Domain Analysis we are better than competition.
Keywords are glass nail files, crystals nail files (some long tail keywords are ok, we are somewhere on top).
Website: http://www.czech-glass-nail-files.com/
We worked on code, design (notice issues is just recent, because of server migration), on-page, blog.
Can someone help me out with an advise? The goal is to be #1. We definitely doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what.
Thank you.

You might double check on the errors. I'm getting multiple errors on interior pages and using Firefox 6.0.2.
-
You didn't find more, because there are not too many.
You are right about links to other websites. But I do think that USA people should visit other website, because they can buy one piece as well there. Which is the point, to provide people what they are looking for.
I mentioned about code errors, they are there for a week, not longer, it's absolutely has nothing to do with rankings.
I wouldn't rank good in other countries where glass nail files is a main keyword. And still there are a lot of websites for that keyword. In UK for example, it has maybe as much people selling and ranking as in USA. I know USA is the biggest market and competitive, but still it doesn't answer the question.
wholesale glass nail files, is a competitive keyword, and we do rank good on it, even in USA, and there are other websites that rank for it as well.
Yes, China was a poor example, just don't think Google would think my site is spammy and still rank in other countries and for other keywords.
There is content for Swarovski glass nail files, as most of the companies sell them as well. We are just the best one.
I will think about the spammy things on the website. Maybe there is something in it. Maybe it's because I think our partner's site should rank better in USA for that specific keyword. Who knows.

Not sure about the SEO issues you mentioned.
I am quite sure about them. There are many others as well. Those are just what I found in the first 60 seconds. After spending another minute on your site I find plenty more:
-
You provide links to other sites using the same or similar keyword phrases to which you are trying to rank. In your footer you have a link with anchor text "Glass nail files wholesale" which is an external link to another site. That sends a signal to Google that traffic for that phrase should be sent to the other site and not yours. You have multiple other examples of similar anchor text to external sites such as "crystal & glass nail files"
-
EVERY page of your site except the home page has coding errors. At the very top of every page I see "Notice: Undefined index: catg in /web/htdocs1/czech_glass_nail_filescom/home/www/langs/title.php on line 7". This is in addition to the coding error example I previously shared.
- You specifically direct USA users to another site: http://www.glassfuzion.net/. Every indication is your site should NOT rank and other sites should.
Website is on 1st place on some other keywords in USA.
Please share any example. From what I can tell, you do not rank well for any keywords at all, but you do rank for some longtail keyword phrases. Those phrases are not competitive which is why you can rank for them.
Ranking is entirely about competition. You can create a "bad" site, add some long tail keyword phrases and rank as #1 for them. As an example, your site ranks #1 for the phrase "Crystal nail files decorated with Swarovski". The reason you rank as #1 for that phrase is...there is absolutely no competition for that phrase. No one else is attempting to rank for it. You earn the #1 ranking by default. That does not demonstrate your site uses good SEO practices.
We are 1st in China, 1.3 billion.
You are completely missing the point and making meaningless comparisons.
Google is not the top search engine in China, Baidu is
Chinese is the main language in China, not English. You mention 1.3 billion people. The only meaningful number for China is, how many people are performing Google searches in China in English for your niche. Without doing any research I would expect the number to be extremely low.
I understand your situation, really I do. You wish to rank better in Google.com. Most people do! You don't understand why you rank so well in other countries, and you rank well for some phrases in Google.com, but struggle with other phrases.
The answer is simple and clear. You only rank well for longtail keyword phrases which are not competitive. You rank as #1 when Google has no choice but to list your site because there is no one else who has content available for the search query. When you pick more generic keyword phrases which actually have traffic (i.e. competitive) then your site is severely penalized due to it's very low quality.
I understand you worked hard developing your site. This news is not what you wish to hear. Bottom line, if you wish to rank as #1 for a given phrase, you need to be the best site for that phrase. You either need to be prepared to sit down and spent a lot of hours learning SEO, or you need to hire a SEO to fix your site. If you don't make a change, your rankings will not improve.

Thank you for your opinion. Not sure about the SEO issues you mentioned. Website is on 1st place on some other keywords in USA. Didn't know that google downgrades website only on specific keywords.
The notice issue was just for a week, just moved to new PHP server, and webmaster didn't fixed it yet.
I agree about the targeting, but stil it doesn't explain why for some keywords it works, and some doesn't. We are 1st in China, 1.3 billion.
We didn't had any impact from Panda, as we do not add tons of unrelated content. We write about what we produce and sell. So everyone who gets on our website for searched keywords can get what he was looking for. A win/win, for us and consumers.

Some websites, that are on top in USA have lower positions in other countries.
-
Hi Dmitriy.
Your site has many serious SEO issues. It is a low quality site which simply will not rank well against any reasonable competition.
A few examples:
-
Your domain name has 3 hyphens and as such will be considered spammy: http://www.czech-glass-nail-files.com
-
Your URLs are far from ideal and contain English spelling errors: http://www.czech-glass-nail-files.com/crystal-nailfiles-accessoires-interior_27-catalog.php
-
Your pages show coding errors. The link above shows the following text at the top of the page:"Notice: Undefined index: catg in /web/htdocs1/czech_glass_nail_filescom/home/www/langs/list.php on line 6"
There are tons of other examples but your site requires serious SEO attention and requires major work.
Why then the page is on top positions? Not in USA, but in Canada. If Google would though we keyword stuffing, why good in some countries, and bad in others.
That's a good question and there is a logical answer. I would share three thoughts with you:
1. Every site has a country target. If you have not declared a country target, then Google will examine your site and determine the target for you. Your address listed is Czech Republic so most likely you are considered a Czech site. Therefore sites from the US will be given an algorithmic boost when compared to your site.
2. Competition is higher in Google.com then for Canada and most other English speaking countries. On a high level, just compare populations. Canada around 35m, England 50m, Australia 23m, USA 312 million.
3. Google changes such as Panda are rolled out in the USA first.
-
-
I dont want to speak as to why other country results would be different but there could be less competition, even lower quality pages etc. than yours on international results. In the US you're going to have more competition on almost any keyword as the index is substantially higher.
-
Why then the page is on top positions? Not in USA, but in Canada. If Google would though we keyword stuffing, why good in some countries, and bad in others.
But thank you, will try it anyway.
-
WAY too many instances of "nail files" on that home page. Twice, the the title tag, twice in the meta description, way too many instances in the copy. I would remove at LEAST half of those instances so Google doesn't think you're keyword stuffing.
-
We work on the website all the time. Last time we did on-page changes are last year. For most of the time we do link building.
glass nail files and crystal nail files are keywords we try to show up for
Sorry, I'm not asking how to be on 1st place, just don't know why USA results show so much different, than other countries. We can't be more relevant to those keywords, as we make that product. And maybe someone can help me out, by telling me fi we are doing something wrong (or not doing at all) for the USA search.
-
How long have you waited since making changes. what keywords are you trying to show up for? Obviously there is no guarantee for a #1 rank on anything. Best practices is all you can do and hope for the best.

I am confused/frustrated/surprised how bad my website is doing on google ranking
Hello, I am confused/frustrated/surprised how bad my website (flyhy.co) is doing on google ranking and I have no clue why even though I have been doing my homework regarding SEO. Just a bit of background, I have created a new website about 6 months ago for the paragliding community, the primary goal is to provide a platform for people to publish their ads (osclass), but also to provide some interesting reviews and tools to help paragliders chose their wing. We have been putting a lot of effort to provide a nice user experience and tio build the tools mentioned above. Our main channel to connect with the community is Facebook, and we have been quite active there. I have looked at many SEO articles and I made sure the website provides a good UX, the URLs are SEO friendly, good meta data, etc. Also have been using the google search console and analytics to monitor all of this. But here is the thing, all these does not seem to change anything in our ranking for important keywords such as "paraglider for sale", "paragliding equipment", etc. We seem to only rank (looking at Google’s keyword tool) for very specific wing model names that people have mentioned in their ads. I have ran out of ideas on how to improve our SEO !!!!!! I know the website is only 6 months old, but by now we should get some results. As an example, I will mention one our main website competitors: www.paraglidingequipment.org. OK the URL is pretty obvious and this website ranks in page #1 for "paragliding equipment" (but also for "paraglider for sale" and other paragliding related key phrases). OK there is the URL (paraglidingequipment.org), but I thought nowadays google bots are smarter than just that. The website is 1 year old (so not really much older than us, and was ranking high anyway even 6 months ago). The website looks like it was clearly made by one person and then quickly just left it running, so no content has been added (except for people putting their ads), there is almost no activity on the Facebook account. I have run some test such as "pagespeed insights" and we both rank the same. On "seositecheckup.com", we are clearly better with more 10 points. Is there anyone out there who can tell me what is going on? Have I missed a very important aspect of SEO? Is our website somehow compromising the robots crawling (although I can see about 80 pages have been already indexed in google search console)? I know content is king, but in paraglidingequipment.org the only content I see are ads, and we have ads and other interesting (ie reviews and tools) for paragliders. To conclude, I am basically completely clueless of what to do to rank at least on the first couple of pages of google for the key phrases above. I need help. Hichem. PS: in Moz bar our score is non existing (PA=1,DA=10), on paraglidingequipment.org (PA=23,DA=15). So it looks that essentially we are not apparent on the web! PSS: We have also tried to build some backlinks on few important paragliding community websites.

Building a high-traffic website in a jobs-related domain
Hi, We are currently planning upon starting a website that’s targeted towards people looking for government jobs in India. Here are the primary / base keywords that we are targeting: Sarkari Naukri Government Jobs / Govt Jobs Latest Government jobs Banking Jobs Bank jobs Railway jobs Employment News IBPS SSC We’re confused that how should we go about ranking on top for these / long tail keywords around it? Because, we think that this is not a domain where you can write long and information-oriented posts (1400-1500 words) to crack SEO. People come to websites under this domain to look for latest jobs and that might or might not be around the high-traffic keywords mentioned above. Secondly, it might not be possible to write a lot of long & information-oriented content around these newer job posts. How do we go about building a high-traffic website in this domain? Thanks...

Ecommerce Website Product Rich Snippet Image
Greetings Mozzers, I'm working on an ecommerce site and my goal is to have the product rich snippets on each of them however, I would like an image to start displaying in the SERPs. Looking for some guidance on this issue. Here is a well phrased questioned I found that sums up my thoughts: Product schema has the "image" attribute, but it is not displayed in rich snippets in SERP. However, there is recipe schema and it allows to show image directly on SERP. It means that we can define two entities on a page (product and recipe, it is allowed) and it should display an image from recipe's part + the rest of information (price, availability) from product's part. I know it is a dirty hack and semantically incorrect, but will it work? If so, would it affect rankings or not? Any other drawbacks? Thank you for any advice/clarification!

How can this website be ranking so well?!
This website: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/domains?site=www.webuycarsyourway.com.au is ranking on page one for about 75% of a list of 300 car related keywords. They don't appear to have done any link building, no social media, appeared out of nowhere in April 2012 and SEMRush reports between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors per month. The only thing I can see is they have a landing page for every keyword with the keyword in the URL. But surely that can't be the only reason they're ranking well ? ?

How much do internal links help?
So I noticed in Site Explorer that my competitors mostly have internal links all over point to a page with the term I want to rank for, while very little external links. How much do internal links help? Should I have a link somewhere on every page pointing to my target page with the keyword, and then grab some external links? I link internally only when I see relevant, but maybe I'm not doing it enough. Looking forward to replies!

Websites like these..
Hi, I'm new to link building. I have done some research of my competitors and have found that many of them are being linked to sites like this http://www.worldofwondersvu.com/ As you can see, this website looks like a business website, but if you view the content, it's spammed with external links. I'm just wondering what method they are going about to get these links, because most of the websites that are linking to them are simular to the one I posted above! Thanks 🙂

How to calculate the most powerful websites in my industry?
Hi, I would like to do some research and put together a post on the most powerful websites in my industry, and was wondering if you have any advice on how to calculate this - or if there is a tool available? Rather than making assumptions, I would like to try and be as accurate as possible. Thanks in advance for suggestions.
