How does someone rank page one on google for one domain for over 150 keywords?
-
A local seo is exclaiming his fantastic track record for a pool company(amonst others) in our local market. Over 150 keywords on page one of google. I checked out a few things using some moz tools and didn't find anything that would suggest that this has come from white hat strategies, tactics or links etc. Interested in how he is doing this and if it is white hat? Thanks, C

There very well could be but I didn't look deep at all. I never even went past the first page of the site. I saw the footer and the phony review and quickly determined the SEO company was using poor techniques to manipulate results, and I would not want to expose a site to those methods.
-
Ryan,
Thanks for the analysis on local and the reviews. I suppose it is just an accumulation of several things, although I thought there might be something a bit more sophisticated at hand.
-
The results are greatly exaggerated. While it is true that each variation of a term can be viewed separated, there is nothing amazing about receiving the same results for these minor variations.
If your site ranks #1 for "Orlando Pool Repair" already, then earning the #1 ranking for "Orlando FL Poor Repair", "Orlando Pool Repairs", "Orlando FL Poor Repairs", "Orlando Pool Pump Repair", "Orlando Pool Pump Repairs", "Orlando Pool Pumps" and numerous other variations....it is all helpful and good, but hardly impressive.
Also note the site's organic listing is not even listed on the first page of Google SERP. It is their Google Local listing that ranks first (A) position. Notice the (D) position SERP result for orlandopool.com? The orlandopool.com site also is the 4th organic listing on the page.
What stands out to me about this site is they have 11 reviews. The other 6 local listings combined have 15 reviews. Notice their 4th review? Guess what. Brandtastic, the SEO company, gave them a Google review. I'm pretty sure if they were caught for this manipulation they would get thrown in the penalty box.
It looks like on April 14, 2010 the second Google review was offered as a negative review. It seems clear to me the site has, in one form or another, "acquired" multiple positive reviews which are not authentic. Notice there is another positive review on July 5th, the same day of the Brandtastic review. The April 18th, 2010 review seems highly suspect.
Despite 2 highly negative Google reviews, they do have 9 great reviews which provides the business a lot of credibility. They also have an A+ BBB rating which helps, along with a decently designed site with social integration, a blog, 40 years in business, etc.
The big clarity point is this site does well in Local SEO due to clear manipulations and some tactics which Keri point out that is definitely not a positive SEO approach. It would not surprise me at all if this site disappeared from SERPs at any point.

I didn't think that the greyed out text in the footer would actually make much difference in ranking...seems pretty old school black hat. Sure, agreed, rank doesn't mean conversion. It doesn't appear that there are bulk keyword domains with redirects.
-
Does anyone search those terms? Do those terms convert?
To answer your question, one of the ways one ranks is to have the light colored text on the light colored background on each page with the following in a spammy footer:
Orlando Pool Service - Orlando Pool Cleaning - Orlando Pool Repairs - Orlando Pool Remodeling - Orlando Pool Renovations - Winter Park, FL - Winter Park Pool Service - Winter Park Pool Service - Winter Park Pool Remodeling - Orlando, FL - Maitland, FL - College Park - Windermere, FL - Longwood, FL - Casselberry, Fl - Lake Mary, FL - Goldenrod, FL - Heathrow, FL - 32825 - 34786 - 32750 - 32779 32714 - 32810 - 32751 - 32707 - 32835 - 32828 - 32801 - 32803 - 32806 - 32789 - 32746 - 32712 - 33880 - 33881 - 33884 - 33801 - 33805 - 33803

Hi Charles.
We would love to offer feedback. What would help is the URL of the site along with some of the keywords which are involved. With that information we can offer a specific reply. Without it, we are left to a long list of generic guesses.

Black hat : raising CTR to have better rank in Google
We all know that Google uses click-through-rate (CTR) as one of it is ranking factor. I came up with an idea in my mind. I would like to see if someone saw this idea before or tried it. If you search in Google for the term "SEO" for example. You will see the moz.com website in rank 3. And if you checked the source code you will see that result 3 is linking to this url: https://www.google.com.sa/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CDMQFjAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fmoz.com%2Fbeginners-guide-to-seo&ei=F-pPVaDZBoSp7Abo_IDYAg&usg=AFQjCNEwiTCgNNNWInUJNibqiJCnlqcYtw That url will redirect you to seomoz.com Ok, what if we use linkbucks.com or any other cheap targeted traffic network and have a campaign that sends traffic to the url that I show you. Will that count as traffic from Google so it will increase the CTR from Google?

SEO from INDIA Smarter then Google?
Exploring this url: filterscanada.ca In Open Site Explorer, it is clear those guys bought one of those package available on site like eLance.com a low price over seas!!! Where freelancer around the word can be hired for a fews bucks. For example, I post a job on eLance for SEO and most of the freelancer submitting where from INDIA. For just a few hundreds dollars, you can get a complet SEO package. At first, the price was attractive, but when posting on seoMoz and doing research, I came to the conclusion, the techniques they use might hurt more the produce positive result... How can you get a D.A. of 45 using backlinks they get? I read all those things about Google algorithm, and Panda and Penguin and this and that... Being impossible to crack! Do you have a explanation? I work really hard ans spends lots of $$$ to have a clean site selling furnace filters

I follow all the SEO guide lines, practice only white hat trying to built somethings, but with a P.A. of 19 and a competitors ranking like this, I ask myself: "Maybe INDIA is smarter then Google and I should do like this site, spend a couple of hundreds dollars and buy myself a high D.A."0 -
Duplicate content showing on local pages
I have several pages which are showing duplicate content on my site for web design. As its a very competitive market I had create some local pages so I rank high if someone is searching locally i.e web design birmingham, web design tamworth etc.. http://www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk/web-design.html http://www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk/web-design-tamworth.html http://www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk/web-design-lichfield.html I am trying to work out what is the best way reduce the duplicate content. What would be the best way to remove the duplicate content? 1. 301 redirect (will I lose the existing page) to my main web design page with the geographic areas mentioned. 2. Re write the wording on each page and make it unique? Any assistance is much appreciated.

Backlinks According to Google
Good Morning, Google has just recognized some links going to my site. I used a seo toolbar downloaded from firefox that informed me of the Links according to Google. My question is that them links have been there for ages and Google has only just recognized them. Is there a reason for this? Does Google only show links quarterly or half yearly? Thanks SEO_123

Redirecting doesn't rank on google
We are redirecting our artist's official website to copenhagenbeta.dk. We have two artists (Nik & Jay and Burhan G) that top ranks on Google (first on page 1), but one of them (Lukas Graham) doesn't rank at all. We use the same procedure with all artists. http://copenhagenbeta.dk/index.php?option=com_artistdetail&task=biography&type=overview&id=49 Doesn't rank but the old artist page still does. Is it the old page that tricks Google to think that this is the active page for the artist?

Landing Page or Doorway ?- that is the question!
Hi Guys, So, I'm looking at a project to build a series of landing pages that cross map cities with Suname. E.g. Sydney + Smyth, New York + Fitzpatrick. On those pages I'll pull in from our directory relevant name based listings and try and display some other tailored / information. The page itself is the end goal - it is definitely not a doorway in the classic sense of encouraging someone to then go on the main site. I want the user to fill out a form on this page because they realise they've landed on a valuable service. I'm looking at potentially 500 names against 2000 locations, creating 1,000,000 landing pages. Although some of the content will be repetitive I genuinely believe someone doing the appropriate search and finding our page will derive value from our page as our whole business is designed to answer their needs. However I'm worried that Google may classify these pages as doorway pages. Could anyone please shine the light of experience on this for me? Thanks!
