Long URL in listing job portal
-
Hello
I have job portal and I am listing job offers by:
regions, position, sector, language skill
For example, when user searchs job in Bratislava, Programmer, information technology, english.
My URL is www.presbium.sk/bratislava/pragrammer/information-technology/english
Title:Job in Bratislava, Programmer, Information technology, english
I know, that URL is too long and no good for SEO.
Is it solution?
When user chooses max. 2 items for example: www.presbium.sk/bratislava/programmer/
than I put in every next links atribute nofollow and google will index only pages with max. 2 items: www.presbium.sk/bratislava/ or www.presbium.sk/programmer/ or www.presbium.sk/bratislava/programmer/
but not www.presbium.sk/bratislava/protrammer/english/, because english link has atribut nofollow.
And I want to ask, what is the best solution for SEO when I am listing job offers by
regions, position, sector, language skill and I have than long URL and Title
www.presbium.sk/bratislava/pragrammer/information-technology/english
Title:Job in Bratislava, Programmer, Information technology, english

Hi Peter.
I can't say there is a consensus on best practices in this area. You may hear varying opinions.
There are two pieces of information I can share with certainty:
-
A URL is not the place to try to stuff with every keyword associated with your job listing
-
You should not use nofollow in the manner you suggested
My first suggestion would be to use common abbreviations. IT instead of Information Technology, EN for English, etc.
Next, consider removing unnecessary categories. Are both IT and Programmer helpful? Do you have any Programmers who are not under the IT category?
You could also consider combining categories.
Some possible URLs:
www.presbium.sk/bratislava/programmer
www.presbium.sk/bratislava/pragrammer-en
www.presbium.sk/en/bratislava/it/pragrammer
These are just some thoughts and the actual implementation would vary based on your site.

Making Shopify URL's Simpler - Losing the words 'collection', 'product' and 'page' in a Shopify store URL. Any advice?
Hi Mozers! I have a Shopify store (of which there are many advantages) however one big SEO disadvantage, is that my URL structures contravene all Moz advice on dynamic URL structure and whats more I am reminded about this every week when I have a Moz site crawl and I have a batch of URL's that are longe than the 75 characters. A Shopify URL will run www.domain name.com/collections/collection-name/product/product-name. According to advice a it should be www.domain name.com/collection-name/product-name - Don't even get started on sub-collections! I sell portfolio books, album etc and keepsake memory boxes (so long keywords) AND, I have a long(ish) business name. So, For user experience and keyword length, do I just ignore trying to achieve a dynamic URL under 75 characters? When I have asked Shopify, the say their URL's are an integral part of the "Ruby on Rails" system, so nothing can be done Or can it ??? I can't be the only Moz member with this issue can I ??

0 urls indexed in GWT, many found with site: command
Hi, This is happening with a brand new site. We have created sitemaps and submitted them to Google Webmaster Tools. GWT says sitemaps are ok, "x" number of urls submitted, but no urls indexed. When I check in Google with site:domain.com I see that many of the urls are already indexed. Why this discrepancy between GWT and reality? Thanks for your time!

Can someone please help me identify where all these URLS to my homepage are coming from?
Hi. I installed the SEOmoz toolbar for Firefox, and analyzed my home page, then clicked on 'get a full site analysis at Site Explorer'. This is what came up: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/www.frs-solutions.com%252Fcontent%252Fhome/a!links?src=mb I hope that link works. If not, the URL is www.frs-solutions.com Anyway, there are about 57 different URLS within my site all pointing to my homepage! I have no idea where they are coming from. Can someone with an experienced eye take a quick look and tell me what I might be up against? Thank you!
