Is there such a concept as 'Social Juice'?

Sorry if this question appears a bit confused, but here goes ...
My understanding is that the Google ranking algolrithm has three aspects:
- Content
- Links
- Social Activity (Tweets, FB shares etc)
I recognise that I can increase my PR by posting comments on highly ranked pages that allow 'follow' links.
I get that!
After investigating Google+ I see I can tie together:
- The content I contribute to (e.g. my website, my blog)
- My social networking activity (My Twitter activity, my FB fanpage, Google+ activity)
Suddenly Google has a view not just of my content, but also my social influence, almost like a Klout score.
It also means they have the potential to build a matrix of other content producers & social media commentators.
Therefore, can I gain what I'm calling 'Social Juice' (which would influence the ranking of my content) by:
- Getting highly ranked social media commenters to interact/comment on any of my content/social engagement
- By commenting on highly ranked content producers regardless of whether that comment contains a link back to my content.
So for point 2, perhaps a prominent expert in my field has a blog that allows me to leave a comment via a Twitter login, but I can't leave a link back to my website (no link juice), however because Google+ knows the comment is attributed to me (as my accounts are linked in Google+) I get 'social juice'. The idea being if I'm permitted to interact with an expert in my field, then I too must have some credibility. (Perhaps that not quite accurate, because I could engaged in an argument with said expert, so perhaps it is more like Klout's idea of influencing people)
If there is logic in point 2, then what might be the best way to 'login' to leave comments on something like a Disqus comment based system so that Google might gain access to this 'social jiuce'. I guess the best way would be to leave a comment via a Google+ account, but that doesn't seem to be option in lot of cases.

If you were Google and you heard everybody on FB and Tw clammoring about a website... you would probably pay attention.
But surely that isn't the whole story.
For example, this article in the UK based Independent newspaper has a PA of 50 & and a DA of 86.Surely if I'm involved in a discussion on a page of that quality it must have a positive effect of my 'social juice'?
The comments are closed on this particular article however I would have been able to add a comment via a Disqus direct login, or via Twitter of FB, etc. and I guess fundamentally I'm trying to work out the most effective way to comment on these type of articles. I'm not at all interested in generating links or social buzz for the sake of it, but when I do interact with quality articles and sites I want maximise the seo potential.

In word, yes. But just as I wouldn't focus too much on PageRank influencing/sculpting/manipulation, I wouldn't focus too much on "Social Juice" influencing/sculpting/manipulation.
In other words, there is search value in conversing, engaging, and participating online. However, just like if you try to create artificial link signals, creating artificial social signals is likely to have little to no impact. My two cents.

Redirect social media links to https?
Hi fellow SEO-ers! One of the sites I'm responsible for uses a Twitter or Facebook feed on most of their pages, next to their unique content. As the tweets (twits?) and comments in some of these feeds are old, they still refer to the old Twitter and Facebook-domains using http (instead of https). These links are all automatically 301-redirected, but still make up ca. 9% of the links on the site. Do you think that this affects SEO? I doubt it, because I suppose that Google has seen this many times and understands that these links are still pointing to the same content. Although my client is prepared to write a script to auto-update all these links, I think it won't make a difference. What do you think? Thanks for your feedback!

Special result for linkedin when you search for 'link'
Hello everyone, I found this merely by chance. I wanted to open linkedin on chrome and hasty as I am i just typed 'link'. Wanted google to understand and return linkedin as the first result so i could just click on it. This is what it returned. Google allows you to search directly on Linkedin from the results page. Its quite fascinating for me. I hope my knowledge isn't too outdated. R0mp9aO

Social Signals Inquiry Regarding Competitor
There is a competitor in my sites industry, and per various tools like opensitexplorer, quicksprout, and searchmetrics, they have an evenly amount of massive (100k+ per page) facebook social signals (likes, shares, comments) to around 25-50 of their top pages on their site. They have no social media presence in terms of a fan page, and they rank on the first page for almost every single keyword that is niche related. How could it be possible to naturally have the same number of facebook social signals to all of your top pages? What have they done to even accomplish this, and is it only a matter of time before Google recognizes the black hat tactics they've put in place to manipulate the search engines?

Monitor Social Traffic
SocialAppsHQ has revised their pricing plans. https://www.socialappshq.com/home/pricing?utm_medium=email&utm_source=pricechange We have been using both their Apps and Social Monitoring. The Apps has worked pretty well for us and the revised pricing will actually be cheaper for us, so I'll likely continue with that feature. As for the Social Monitoring, perhaps I'm not using it effectively, but I get notice of social traffic too late to be really useful. To help generate viral lift in Twitter, for example, I need to be notified within an hour or so that someone has mentioned our product. If I am notified eight hours after the original tweet, then many on the east coast are already asleep and I can't retweet effectively until the next day, and it looses impact when the discussion is cold. Also, the revised pricing makes this feature much more expensive for us. What services can you recommend that will give us rapid notification of search phrases on FB and Twitter? Best,

Crawling of Social data
Just a quick inquisitive question. Websites like Facebook and Twitter arent public, they obviously allow a page title and snippet of account info in search results. So how are is social metrics gathered as regards to Tweets or Shares or Likes etc. in crawling data gathering? Would this give some insite how best to share social media too?

Question on RyanKent's Identifying Link Penalties 2012 Article
I have a question about this article: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/identifying-link-penalties-in-2012 Specifically the Section Titled: Other Google Link Penalties _"Google often manually penalizes sites and does not inform site owners of the penalty. Furthermore, Google makes many algorithm changes each year. Most people are aware of the major algorithm changes, but you should also know Google makes about 50 algorithmic changes each month which could lead to ranking changes or an "algorithmic penalty". With the Penguin update specifically, we are unsure if there will be further refinements and rollouts as has happened with Panda. On May 25th Google rolled out what Search Engine Land calls Penguin 1.1. _ What advice is available for a site owner who wants to know if they have received a link penalty or at risk in the future? Check your anchor text distribution to see if it appears natural. You can perform a fast check in Open Site Explorer of your top 20 links as follows: Go to http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ Enter in the URL of your site and press <enter>or the SEARCH button</enter> Change your drop down box settings as follows: Show [followed + 301] links from [only external] pages to [pages on this root domain]…..then press the FILTER button. These settings will remove the “nofollow” and internal links which are not evaluated by Google as part of link penalties. You will now see a list of all links to your site which may cause you to incur a penalty. For now, focus only on the Link Anchor Text column. If 50%+ of your top 10 links show the same or very similar anchor text, that is a warning sign of a very unnatural link profile. Of course, a deeper analysis is desirable but this method offers you some idea of the problem in just a few seconds. Hopefully your anchor text distribution looks more natural than the below example. Notice how all the links show anchor text? A natural distribution would show a high percentage of links with simply the site URL. When anchor text is naturally used, it is often far less than ideal." Anyway, with anchor text looking the same - would this have a negative impact if i was syndicating content to 10-15 blogs, or if i used onlyshare and did it to 50 or something. Would this impact me eventaully in a long term sense. I tend to write articles at least weekly for these sites so that i make sure i have fresh content, if me syndicating them/sharing the excerpt to my blog pages w/ anchor pages back to my main article is hurting me by having multiple pages linking back w/ the same exact anchor text, that would be a good thing to know. Any input on this would be much appreciated. Keep in mind i'm not creating 10k blogs and having one blog post on them. They are actively posted to. With my established site they seem to work great- but with a new site, would popping 10-15 links real quick like that set off any alarms? thank you, -Travis Gross
