SEO value of Articles, Magento vs. Wordpress?
-
Our e-commerce site is running on the Magento platform while the blog for the site is integrated and is on the Wordpress platform. The blog is not on a separate subdomain, so it is on www.website.con/blog.
What I wonder is how Google treats information on a Wordpress blog compared to pages created in the Magento CMS pages. Would a high quality content article posted as a blog post on the Wordpress have a lower SEO value than a page on the Magento?
Thanks.

First I would share that while URLs can affect ranking, their effect is quite low. I try to keep them short and clear not only for ranking, but for user readability.
I would suggest offering the flattest URL structure possible. Is having the term "blog" or "resources" actually helpful for anything? It really depends on your site. For some sites it makes a lot of sense to add a /blog layer to the URL, but for others it does not.

Having information on Magento or Wordpress may be the same SEO value.
But what happens if the information in this case will be:
www.website.com/blog/resources/article
www.website.com/resources/article
Then it is better to have the second option from a SEO point of view, isnt it?

Thanks for the answers, then it looks like we are sticking to the wordpress blogg and posting the useful resources and other information there instead.
Cheers!

I think what's really important here for SEO is that you've got an on-site blog, and the blog is on a decent platform. And what's the alternative to your Wordpress blog - a Magento blog module?
I've been asking our technical team for ages to change the blogs on our Magento sites from a Magento blog module to a Wordpress platform (should be done in the next few weeks :D). I've found our current blog module such a pain to work with that I would cut off my arm and eat it before I would use it on any site of my own.
When you have to update a blog regularly you need a comfortable and flexible user interface, and Wordpress gives you this. When you need to present articles in a professional and attractive way on a commercial website, Wordpress makes this easy. When you need to make SEO tweaks like global changes to a tag name Wordpress makes this easy.
If you have good content and the blog is accessible you should be fine.

What I wonder is how Google treats information on a Wordpress blog compared to pages created in the Magento CMS pages.
For the most part, Google treats all web pages equally. Whether a web page is from a forum, blog, e-commerce site, plain html or any other form of site the page itself has a specific structure. There are meta tags contained in the of the document. There is content in the of the document. The content is divided into recognized containers such as header, footer, navigation, sidebars, body, etc. Google views and weighs the content accordingly.
The above response should be fine, and the below detail probably falls under the category of Too Much Information.
Google's full algorithm is not known to anyone outside Google. There is always a possibility Google could adjust a web page slightly based on whether it was an e-commerce page or a blog article, but it has never been confirmed by any credible source. I have never seen it even suggested nor any testing of this idea.

Brightcove SEO Best Practices?
My company has decided to go with Brightcove as a video platform so we can better monetize all of the video content we create and better customize the experience as well. We have a pretty decent YouTube presence, and I won't let them stop using that because it would totally alienate us from part of our audience. So I was hoping someone could help me with the following: Are we able to keep videos hosted on YouTube as well as Brightcove without any risk of duplicate content? If we use the Brightcove player to embed videos in our on-site content, are we hindering potential organic search visibility? On the embeds, it's looking like it's using an iframe in our content (https://www.leafly.com/news/cannabis-101/sativa-indica-and-hybrid-whats-the-difference-between-cannabis-ty) - We're using a Brightcove WP plugin for the embed, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on a better way to implement/if this is even an issue at all. Are there any other general best practices/insights anyone has working with this platform? I found this article on their site, but I was wondering if there was anything else I should consider. Thank you in advance for any insights/answers!

What do you think about SEO of big sites ?
Hi, I was doing some research of new huge sites for example carstory.com that have over million pages and i notice that many new sites have strong growing for number of keywords and then at some point everything start going down (Image of traffic drop attached) there are no major updates at this time but you can clearly see even on recent kewyords changes that this site start loosing keywords every day , so number of new keywords are much less that lost keywords. How would you explain it ? Is that at some point when site have more than X number of indexed pages then power of domain is not enough to keep all of them at the top and those keywords start dropping ? Please share you opinion and if you have any experience by yourself with huge sites. Thank You very appreciated 2LC3AxE

What can you do about negative SEO?
We have a list of 240 domains (look exactly the same) linking to our site for a certain keyword. over 3000 links in total. It means that 50% of our keywords are this keyword and it's not a branded keyword which can affect us in the long term. I have done a WHOIS search and found a name, email and number. Vikas Kumar. I linkedin searched him and found his "legit" SEO site which has EXACTLY the same registration details as the spam sites. I emailed him and he said it would cost 5$ a link removal. I phoned him and he DENIED these emails. He then denied owning these sites etc. We have disavowed them but the anchor text % is still affecting us. Is there anything we can do? I know negative SEO isn't illegal but it's really frustrating. Anyone else had any problems with this type of thing?

Video SEO for Google
I was wondering what the prime factors were to make something rank for a video on Google. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think that length may be important, but I don't know what the ideal run time is. Hypothetically for local SEO, would I be better off doing a tag like "Mercedes Buffalo NY" or do individual tags of "Mercedes" and "Buffalo" Thanks!

Retaining SEO value when changing the shopping cart software
I am looking into purchasing an existing ecommerce site with high SEO rankings. However, the site is old and beyond outdated. The shopping cart would need to be updated (say, to Magento). However, an updated shopping cart will force a change in the URLs (from example.com/category.asp to example.com/category). Will the SEO value be lost? Does anyone have any experience with this issue? There is a significant amount of money for me at stake so I would really appreciate to hear your experiences in this matter.

Multi-Location SEO: Sites vs Pages
I just started with a new company that requires multi-location SEO for its niche product/service. Currently, we have a main corporate website, as well as, 40+ individual dealer websites (we host all). Keep in mind each of these dealers consist of only 1-2 people, so corporate I will be managing the site or sites and content strategy. Many of the individual dealer sites actually rank very well (#1-#3) in their areas for our targeted keywords, but they all use the same duplicate content. Also, there are many dealer sites that have dropped off the radar in last year, which is probably because of the duplicate and static content. So I'm at a crossroads... Attempt to redo all of these location sites with unique and local content for each or Create optimized unique pages for each of them on our main site and redirect their current local domains to their page on our site Any advise regarding which direction to go in and why. Why is very important. It will be very difficult to convince a dealer that is #1 with his local site that we are redirecting to our main site, so I need some good ammo and reasoning. Also, any tips toward achieving local seo success will be greatly appreciated, too! Thank you!

Where Does Blogging Fit Into SEO
I read an article yesterday that said blogging comes under the heading of social media, which is at the top of the so called SEO pyramid. I have taken this to mean less time should be spent in social media compared to other areas of SEO. Yet content creation was at the bottom of the pyramid (more time allocation here). Isn't blogging part of content creation? I would have thought there is a limit to what can be done for service/product & landing pages. Whereas blogs are a great way to produce more unique content for a website. Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks - Christina

Does a Slider widget harm my SEO?
Does using a slider widget (such as the one Skype uses) harm my SEO? Meaning, is the text still totally readable to search engines or will it be in JAVAscript. Are there any SEO-friendly sliders you would recommend?
