Google Trends - what did you do?
So is it me or did Google make some crazy changes -
The "trends" are no longer anchored to appropriate articles etc...
Why do you think they would remove something so useful to us?

RE: My rankings report is giving out wrong information
I am as well, I think it is a geo location issue

RE: Site redesign and links?
If all links are external, then depending on how many indexed pages the root domain will have ... It will in essence be site wide links which are no good for your site or the sites they are pointed to. Something to consider if you can't avoid placing a lot of links is building them within an iframe so they are not crawled.

RE: Easy way to get some do-follow links for a new site
That is ONE of the segments I would totally recommend NOT doing any type of grey hat link building.
I run some financial sites and if you want to exchange some authentic content and some "white" hate exposure building -> forget the "link" building anymore.

RE: Easy way to get some do-follow links for a new site
I would be very careful in this post penguin world right now with non white hate tactics for links. What is the vertical you are trying to rank for?

RE: Excel tips or tricks for duplicate content madness?
Choose one of the URL's as the authoritive and remove the dupped content from the others.

What if the Internet ran out of room? In fact, it's already happening.
Have you heard about this - you should of by now!
Read the full article here:

My thoughts are the recent updates and those of which that have been undisclosed at this point are closely related to the expanding of the addresses that will be assigned.
What do you think?

RE: Do Follow and No Follow Attributes?
Well put , also keep in mind that to many no follow links are also not a good link profile Variation

RE: Hi guys.. post-penguin my website coming in and out of serps every other day... what reason for that? ie. #11 --> #300+
I am having a similar issue ...but am only seeing a a few sites and it seems to be segments with grand competition and over use of keywords, like tactics that were grey hat are for sure black What tool displays ranking 200 to 300 indexed pages back in Google?

RE: Where are the best resources for Real Estate Internet Marketing?
I operate a variety of real estate sites but to ensure succes not only on the SERPS and also paid placement ... I build them to cater to specific areas and market pricing. Where is your area? I could help you get some sites going or even offer you some placement depending on where you are.

RE: How important are different class c subnets and ip's
I disagree with Alan Elbert, I ran 5 sites within the same niche (forex) which is silly competitive and we ran allow them on separate c class ISP to help cloak all of our linking and versatility on the web, not to mention soliciting each site as a stand alone company giving you higher revenue capabilities on affiliate partnerships etc

RE: How to promote a blog after Penguin and the Google blog update
It is all about picking a niche that you can discuss daily if not no less than once a week. Then slowly through your current Facebook and other social mediums build your audience and when you are up to around 25 to 50 readers a day host a giveaway ...and I mean a nearly one... Free tickets to a water park or theme park, market the season and you will for sure gain exposure and most importantly on target backlinks. I can help you organize one through the many blogs I am running depending on your vertical

RE: Search Spike over the weekend
Going into the weekend search queries and traffic across the board with my clients has been crazy. Now Witt the post penguin update, things are even wackier! See if for some reason maybe some internal subpages of newer content has made some increase in rankings and be sure to analyze the entry points and referring sites and or keywords. Your webmaster tools will play a major role in this riddle.

RE: Backlinks on FB and Twitter?
Benjamin, keep in mind that the three dominant social outlets that are now being calibrated within googles algorithm are Facebook, twitter and google plus. This means a site ranking first page first spot will almost need to ensure a healthy spread of authoritive on topic links along with social outlets including low boune rates on your site. Hope this helps

RE: Google Places / Map Results CTR vs Top Organic Result
David, I have exactly the same issue with a few clients myself and what I have found is, if the client is a business that caters to just one specific area vs a larger span then the click throughs will vary and the customer reviews with close proximity of location tend to do best.

And the beat goes on...
So folks ...spill it, what are some of your new techniques in building backlinks to your or your clients site? I am sure many have come to a loss of direction as many grey hat techniques have gone very black and now many of us are just confused to what "it" is google wants to see. What is your game plan?

RE: Image optimization
Great question and yes, it is a huge plus to renaming the images...BUT, don't go crazy. As in any keyword placement, variation is key...if it is just you working on the SEO then choose no more than 10, no less than 3 keywords. Name them accordingly... What it seems google is loving even more.... Long tails !

RE: Best Ways to Get More Newsletter Subscribers?
One word - GIVEAWAYS.
I am running a special right now and one of the rules of entry are:
Newsletter sign up upon other data driven needs.
The giveaway has to be GREAT and trust me - works like a charm.
I am running a giveaway for 2 tickets to a NBA Playoff game.
Pro - We are already up to 900+ subscribers for the start of May.
Con - Not EVERYONE is interested in the products and or offer.

RE: Change of domain name?
This is something great to keep in mind moving the site over to a .com:
If my client were to propose this to me I would consider building another site with the BRANDED name and company products but use 100% brand new content - avoiding the possibility of being hurt by duped content.
Online real estate is priceless - so instead of just transferring the URL over - or just building a clone site - use this time to build upon your own brand and WEB business in general.
Look into some other low hanging fruits within your vertical and maybe take an approach by trying to optimize the site from the ground up with a handful of keyterms/products that you have the most REVENUE built into.
But then again - I am always looking to expand and create something new versus replicating.

RE: How to write a good resourceful SEO enabled article
I started to put in a response - but then noticed, you are trying to optimize the content going on your sites static section which I then have to agree with Francisco here.
It for sure is going to be very difficult to explain the A-Z best practice for static OPTIMIZED content.
But if this is any help to you - here I go.
When I am writing content for blog/audience purposes there are a few things I have been doing that set the tone for OPTIMIZED content.
-
AUTHENTIC - of course
-
First link is now a LONG tail keyterm pointing to another article/sub-page to your site (internal link) - but now post penguin, don't use a keyterm you are trying to rank for.
-
2nd link is an authoritative link relevant to the topic and the site could be a potential partner to link back to you at some point.
-
Secret recipe number 4, private message me and I will share it but it truly has set my clients site on fire and has given them a 50-65% faster increase in rankings - WHITE hat too.

RE: Best way to remove unwanted links
You might run into stubborn webmasters that just don't reply or tell you to fly a kite - so I came up with something that seems to work like a charm.
I inform them in less than 3 sentences that your site has been taking over by a trojan/virus/something scary and that it seems to be attaching itself to any and all sites that are linking to "me" so tell them for the safety of their site and any google penalization please remove the link and actually ask them to "let you know"
A great call to action and has been working for me

RE: Hi, we are considering a new site revamp to go live in 3-4 months. How much effort should we put into fixing what is wrong with our current site? We are a new SEOmoz user. Thanks
From what Rand said on the last white board Friday, marketing and sites like yours are taking the biggest hit since post penguin update.
I would say for sure fix the current errors now but in the mean time it is a fact your new rankings will take time organically ...
So I would combine your new SEO campaign with a healthy and aggressive social attack as well.
Offering a great give away like play off basketball tickets or something else through your blog/facebook and drive the audience stimulation - this does nothing to much for rankings but HUGE for traffic and word of mouth. * the playoff tickets are a bit of an investment but paying off for clients of mine.
Start to push a lot of "fresh" content through a blog tied to your site and also be sure to post the Post URL to - Facebook, Twitter, Google + as they are imperative to a healthy algorithmic crawl.
Welcome to the SEO world ;o)

RE: Which Wordpress Framework for Best SEO
I have used a variety of frameworks since my clients are scattered between so many different verticals. I have found that using a third party web builder for homepage and other major converting pages is huge if you really want 100% esthetic control... But uploading your Wordpress to the root file under a subpage (preferably using a keyword) and then building internal links from the nav bar and other in content areas of the 3rd party web built parts has been a major success in getting me almost 10 sites now first page, first spot google. Of course the content is king and best part the indexed post from Wordpress are now picked up as being tied to the root file adding more and more indexed pages to your site. Clients LOVE the flexibility in design and being able to take over some parts of the sites operability and they will LOVE you even more when they are out ranking their competitors. PS . I do not ever use any SEO plugins -chenzo

RE: Issue: Duplicate Page Title
This is fantastic stuff thanks Batman!

Issue: Duplicate Page Title
When you are in Error status for Duplicate Page Titles - but it is because of the root domain:
and
- How to you go about changing the title of the same page without looking un-natural.
My client has built his site with the - index file pulling to the root - but the crawlers are seeing TWO separate pages - when in reality they are the same.
Riddle me this batman?

Blogscape
I have never been able to use the blogscape function under my pro membership.
Is this something that will be up sooner than later?
Much thanks,
