I can now resolve the www version of the site but not reach the root domain which will continue to return the 605 error so there is something about the root domain configuration that is blocking our bot. A workaround would be to create a new campaign for www.bigbluem.com instead of bigbluem.com

RE: Moz Pro, our web crawler, and sites that use SNI (804 HTTPS SSL) error
Hi Etienne
There is a public 3rd party tool which also fails to connect which is hosted on AWS:
If you run a GET request to this URL you will see a time out. Your admins can use this tool to quickly isolate any issues as this timeout is the same we are running into.
The SSL issues reported may not block normal browser connections but possible non-browser user-agents which would be another bot or server. We do not have any requirements or TLS, 1.0 and up is supported.
Hope this helps!

RE: Google+ Not Working in my Profile
I just realized you are trying to add the links to your community profile.
So for Google you only need the +username without the /about, this has been added.
You should only add the /username for Facebook which is just OnlineUnitedStatesCasinos
Let me know if that works

RE: Not in Top 50 - But actually in 3rd position
Hi Benny!
I am not sure what happened to your email from the 18th but I did see the one submitted yesterday. I'm afraid Erin's earlier response on the 18th identified the issue with your campaigns.
We are not finding keywords in the top 50 for your September campaign due to the URL set to only track the root domain because your site is ranking as the "www" version on the SERPs. This is indicated below the campaign settings where it says "tracking only this subdomain" which is set by checking the box to "exclude subdomains" from the setup process. This means if you are ranking as www.domain.com, we are actually looking for domain.com
If you setup a root domain URL without checking the box to exclude subdomains, this will act as a catch-all to pull rankings for all versions of the site, www or non-www. This is why the May campaign is showing ranking keywords because we are "tracking all sites at this domain".
Hope this helps!

RE: Sidebar on OSE causing problems
Hi David!
We actually updated the UI for OSE so all of our research tools can be found under one section. You should see social metrics after searching a URL/page which looks like this: http://www.screencast.com/t/Q3wmTzOF7wM
If you are seeing something different, definitely send us a screenshot and your account information to help@moz.com
Hope this helps!

RE: Subdomain not showing up in ranking reports?
Hi Linda, once a campaign is setup the settings for the URL cannot be modified. You will only be able to set how to track a domain during the setup process. A new campaign would have to be created if there is a change to the domain.
If you enter a root domain, our tool will track data for any pages at the root domain level including all sub-domains.
If you enter a root domain, sub-domain, or sub-folder and check the advanced box to "exclude all sub-domains" this means we will only track pages within the URL as entered. This means if you entered a root-domain and you are now ranking for the www-version of the site, all of your rankings will not be found in the top 50 search results because we are only looking to track the root-domain version.
For Patrick the campaign is setup as a catch-all which is good so there will not be any issues pulling data. There is common confusion on how we collect rankings data. When a campaign is setup and keywords are entered. Our tool will search those keywords on Google/Bing/Yahoo, etc and will look for results that match the configured domain.
Hope this helps!
If your keyword is ranking for a page on your sub-domain or root domain in the top 50 results, then that exact URL will be listed next to the keyword.

RE: Unable to download OSE advanced report
Hi There
It appears there are more than 100K results so the report is timing out. You will likely be able to filter the results by domain authority to get under 100K. Start with 40-100, then 50-100, etc to see if it will help!

RE: Report is scheduled for next month - need it now
Hello there!
I took a look at your campaigns and do see the custom reports were created today. This means your monthly reports will begin collecting data for June thru July which is why your first report will be sent to you next month. In the meantime you can always export your current history for each metric as separate reports (except link analysis). I hope this helps and I do apologize for any confusion.
Have a great weekend!

RE: Crawl test
Hello!
What you will want to do is look at your crawl diagnostics in a campaign to get a better understanding of the errors. The CSV is helpful to hand over to a web developer to address any issues. There is a mix of positive and negative errors you will find in the report. You can use the data viewed in a campaign as a guideline.
TRUE values mean the errors for the specific column exist, these are the ones you will pay close attention to.
FALSE values mean they do not exist. Most FALSE values will not appear in a campaign so many of the cells in a CSV will show this.
Hope this helps!

RE: Moz Crawler not Identifying all Duplicate Pages
Hey Lindsey!
I am not sure why our crawler did not flag those pages as they are 99% identical and are not sharing the same canonical URL. This is very strange and I'll send this up to our crawler engineer to obtain more insight.
Will let you know what I find out once I hear back!

RE: Why Open Site Explorer is Showing 0 Total Internal Links?
Hi Anirban!
OSE crawls differently from our diagnostics crawler so it doesn't quite follow the link structure within the source code unless we can reach the page through other important sites that are linking to you.
Just so you know, here's how we compile our index:
- We grab the most recent index.
- We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains).
- We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled 90,000,000,000 pages (which is about 35% the amount in Google's index).
Therefore, if the site is not linked to by one of these seed URLs (or one of the URLs linked to by them in the next update) then it won't show up in our index.
Other times can be re-directs and javascript and server errors that would prevent access to the site. If you can tell me your domain name I would love to take a look.
Talk to you soon!

RE: Can I move a campaign across to a different account?
Hi Tim,
Ferderico is correct. You can definitely export all of your historical data to provide to your client and have them create their new campaign for their domain. They will only need to input 5 keywords and then copy & paste the rest once its setup.
Hope that helps!

RE: How do I download a CSV of inbound links?
Hi Lina
To match the URLs in OSE for inbound links
Search the root domain of the URL
Set the filters to:
Target: This root domain
Link source: all pages
Link Type: all linksTo obtain the FULL backlink profile, you would have the build an application to access our database via paid API apiwiki.moz.com

RE: Moz Crawler not Identifying all Duplicate Pages
Hi Lindsey
Our engineers have confirmed that rogerbot will flag pages that are 100% identical but can sometimes miss pages that are 99% similar. The crawler is deliberately written to err on the side of not reporting false positives which means it sometimes can report false negatives which has occurred in your case. Using a combination of tools such as Webmaster tools can help isolate any pages we have missed.
Hope this helps!

RE: Discrepancy between OSE internal links and Webmaster Tools
Hi Jordan!
There are a lot of reasons you could be seeing these data discrepancies. If you're seeing more GWT errors, it could be because they have 'discovered links' through different means. Moz starts with your home page and uses recursive crawling to find pages on your site. We keep crawling until we stop finding unique links, or until we hit your page crawl limit. Bottom line, when we crawl your site your homepage is the only seed. We know that Google uses multiple seeds, so it could be possible Google is indexing more pages that way. In sum Google will never match up with OSE but it's good to use both along with other backlink tools to cover all your bases.
Hope this helps!

RE: Location specific MOZ Ranking changes - How to track them
Hi there!
Our tools are only setup to show what most users will see globally. The only way to try and target local rankings is to use geo-targeted keywords so you would use "car exhaust melbourne" which shows up as #2 in my search on google.com.au. We are researching a solution for local rankings but have no ETA on when I will have more information about that.
Hope this helps!

RE: Discrepancy between OSE internal links and Webmaster Tools
Anytime!
Website structure can play a part but also time timing of when sites are indexed. There can be various networking issues that can prevent our crawler and others from reaching certain pages. You can always run a crawl test to look for any possible errors which you will have time to correct before the next update: https://moz.com/researchtools/crawl-test
Also some pages may be blocked intentionally from robots.txt and no-follow tags.

RE: Can I add more than 100 keywords while under Free Trial?
Hi Sherman
The trial accounts are the same as paid so you can track up to 350 keywords. There are a few users who are not able to view all of their keywords in the list which is a known bug our engineers are working on resolving, so I am very sorry you are affected by it. From your dashboard you can view how many keywords you have added. Currently I see 150/350. Unfortunately there isn't a way to see your entire list of keywords and once a fix has been deployed I will definitely let you know.
I will send you an email right now where I can keep you updated on any new progress.
Talk to you soon!

RE: Setting timescales in Custom Reports
Some modules are default monthly such as links data since those update when our index updates. Are there any specific modules you are trying to add that does not have the time frame option?
Rankings won't appear the same way, you can toggle weekly/monthly above the graph/chart on the right side
Crawls are weekly only as there isn't a "monthly" option to show a list of all errors. The only module you should add here will be for the Issues Overview and priority tabs to show the summary. Use CSV reports to export links data as the rows in a PDF report may not generate if there are too many links. CSVs will show the full URLs while the PDFs will not.
Links are monthly only since this data is imported directly from our Mozscape Index.
Let me know if this helps!

RE: Discrepancy between OSE internal links and Webmaster Tools
It's possible we may not have indexed those pages or they have a link back to www.unionroom.com within the source code. You can verify by putting those pages into OSE directly to see if they have been indexed and also verify the link is in the source code.
For example we do have /blog/ indexed but there isn't a link going back to the homepage as "www.unionroom.com"

RE: Drastic Monthly Fluctuations in Page Link Metrics
Hi Nima
Google will always show more links than our crawler as they are a much larger company and have multiple seeds to crawl more pages. You should use multiple tools to obtain a full link profile which is something I've seen recommended many times in our community. The 68 links we found mean those links meet the criteria we are measuring to discover them. This also means the 158 other links may not be considered as high ranking sites or your links are too deep for us to crawl or they have been crawled and are just waiting to appear in a future index update. No single index will be the same as each company crawls differently.
As I mentioned earlier:
- We grab the most recent index
- We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains).
- We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled 90,000,000,000 pages (which is about 35% the amount in Google's index).
Therefore, if the site is not linked to by one of these seed URLs (or one of the URLs linked to by them in the next update) then it won't show up in our index. Google does not crawl this way. This and our metrics are proprietary to Moz so it isn't that our data is unreliable or is being crawled incorrectly.
The domain authority is effected by a lot of things. It is hard to pin point it without being a SEO consultant or the specific web designer on your website. Domain and Page Authority scores are both calculated using Moz's Ranking Models work. In essence, we take a lot of rankings data from the search engines (by running queries) and then try to build a predictive scoring system using our own on-page analyses and Mozscape link data to construct an algorithm that will effectively reproduce the search engines' results. Our current accuracy hovers in the 70% range, but over time, we expect to improve.
Once we have a ranking model (which we internally call "uber"), we can create scores that best approximate the combinations of all our page-specific link metrics or domain-specific link metrics (removing the keyword-specific features like anchor text, on-page keyword usage, etc). These scores represent the model's query-independent or non-keyword-based ranking inputs.
In simple terms, Domain Authority is our best prediction about how content would perform in search engine rankings on one site vs. another. Page Authority answers the same question for an individual page. Both are amalgamations of all the link metrics (number of links, linking root domains, mozRank, mozTrust, etc.) we have into a single, predictive score.
It's important to note that both Domain Authority and Page Authority are on a 100-point, logarithmic scale. Thus, it's much more difficult to grow your score from 70 to 80 than it would be to grow from 20 to 30.
Here's some places to really delve into what is going on:

RE: Deleting old obsolete pages from the Page Grades section?
Hello!
Our devs are working on a way to allow unwanted page grades to be removed from campaigns and we hope to have a solution ready very soon. As for the URLs session Ids our crawler will follow links as they are linked from the source code of a referring page and javascript can add those parameters as our crawler cannot parse javascript links that well.
With AJAX content like this, I know Google's full specifications: https://developers.google.com/webmasters/ajax-crawling/docs/specification indicate that the #! and ?escaped_fragment= technique works for their crawlers. However, Roger is a bit picky and isn't robust enough yet to use only the sitemap as the reference in this case. Luckily, one of our wonderful users came up with a solution using pushState() method.
Click here: http://www.moz.com/blog/create-crawlable-link-friendly-ajax-websites-using-pushstate to find out how to create crawl-able content using pushState . This should help our crawler read AJAX content. Let me know if this information works for you!

RE: Puzzled. High domain authority, but low page authority?
Hey Keith, just wanted to drop in and let you know we do not automatically re-crawl all links in our index as every index release starts from scratch, so we would need to "re-discover" any links to update. It took us 6 months for all of our metrics from SEomoz.org to move to Moz.com when we made the name switch 2 years ago. Fresh links to the same pages will help re-queue them once you see the link in Just Discovered.
Hope this helps

RE: My Backlinks are Coming ZERO in Open SIte Explorer
Hi Himanshu
Sorry to hear you aren't seeing you links yet in our Index. What you can do is search the sites you are building links on to see if we are crawling them and check the Just Discovered tab to see if any links are in queue. If you see links there for their site and including your own, then you can expect your links to appear in our index in the next 1-2 updates.
Hope this helps!

RE: Cancel Moz Local
There will be a 30 day renewal notice and by then we will definitely have an option to submit a cancelation or opt out of renewal.
-
RE: Why has my Google Analytics dropped completely from the results on this weeks crawl?
Hi Dave!
There can be a delay to import traffic data from Google. The crawl diagnostics notification is only for the diagnostics and not traffic data but most campaigns fall on the same schedule if the profile was connected on the same day the campaign was created. Sometimes these issues are difficult to troubleshoot through the Q&A forum. If anything else comes up with your campaigns please email us at help@moz.com with your account details so we can investigate
Glad it's currently working for you

RE: Comparing Competitor On-Page Grades?
Hi Keith
We have two on-page graders, one for campaign only URLs and one for any URL at moz.com/researchtools/on-page-grader
You can run a full report for any of your competitors, this will be the only way to obtain a breakdown of the factors, but may not be something you would necessarily focus on as they are only guidelines as you can just see the grades in full SERP reports to rule out keyword optimization as a ranking factor. This is if you are wondering why you see a page ranking higher than others with an F grade. There isn't a need to get a page report as it is likely ranking due to other factors.
Hope this helps!

RE: Dofollow link from Moz user profile still not showing in OpenSiteExplorer
Hi Ruben
It can take a few index updates to see your link update as our own site will fall under the same rules as others. We have a lot of profiles on our site so it will depend on when we crawl a page linking to your profile. The last time we crawled your profile was on Sun, 28 Dec 2014. You do have a link to your profile processing from Feb 16th which should update in the next 1-2 indexes: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s269/sh/da67c098-5a1f-4322-b20b-55f799c41de7/34747619a929f8c4ec1911ebb4cf00aa
