RE: Increase Search Ranking for CEO
I might do a combo of adding a page to the company website's about section, as the company site already has domain authority and could easily rank well. For example, if you do a search for "Rand Fishkin" his SEOmoz bio is the first thing to show up in the SERPS: http://www.seomoz.org/team/randfish. Make sure to link that page to any other page on the web about her.
It also wouldn't hurt to set up a simple website with her matching name domain (for example mine is http://jensablelopez.com - that other pesky Jennifer Lopez has all other domains taken up.) and make sure that site links to the company about page as well as social channels.
But if you want the images to change, then make sure that the images on the company website and the new domain, as well as the social sites really, are all optimized for her exact name. Make sure the image name is her name and the alt text is her name and any links.
I'd also set up a google+ account and add a few images of her that she's ok with and tag herself in them. Google is showing G+ images in image search now and this is a good way to get your photos out there.
Hope that helps!

RE: Is there any SEO benefit of adding the Facebook "Like" widget to your site?
I agree with what others are saying. While there is no direct SEO benefit, there are lots of indirect benefits. As noted already it shows social proof, helps with branding, can bring you second-hand links, etc.
Search and social are definitely melding, but social still needs to be social.

RE: Our homepage currently uses a Meta refresh. Is it worth $1,000 to get it fixed?
Use that comparison to show them that you're mixing up your link juice by getting links to both URLs and by consolidating you'll be able to rank that home page better.
Hope that helps!

Hi Steve,
Using the video is perfectly fine, but only if you show that it was created by us and link back to the original post and not just to the refer a friend page. Let me know if you have any questions!

RE: Keyword Difficulty Tool not working?
Hi Adrian!
So sorry about the slow response today, we do try to be as absolutely responsive as possible even on the weekend. In the future if you ever have any issues with the tools please send us an email at help[at]seomoz.org. That is usually the quickest way to get in touch with us.
Q&A is a great place to get your general SEO and other inbound marketing questions answered, but may not get the quickest place for a support type of question.
We'll definitely keep everyone posted on what's happening with the Keyword Difficulty Tool.
Thanks!

RE: Why Even Publish Dates for the Next OSE Data Set?
No worries, Brent. I don't think it's an attack at all. Feel free to not view the calendar.
-
RE: Why Even Publish Dates for the Next OSE Data Set?
Hey Brent,
I totally understand where you're coming from and believe me we're as frustrated by the date slipping as our customers are. We set a date to help people plan and we like to be open and transparent about the index and when it's coming out. It may seem like a good idea to not tell people when we've missed a date, but honestly that wouldn't be very TAGFEE of us.
Also, having a date on the calendar help people remember when indexes have gone out in the past. It's most definitely not perfect, but we're working very hard to get those indexes happening much faster than they currently are. We'd rather have people know what's going on, rather than wonder.
Hope that helps explain a bit!
Thanks,
Jen

FYI I edited your answer to abide by our Community Etiquette. Thanks!

RE: Can Twitter really help your Google Rankings??
I'd highly recommend not using Twitter solely for higher rankings. Twitter helps you with brand management, customer service, community management, etc. If you're only using Twitter to try to game Google, you're probably going about it the wrong way. I'd focus on managing your Twitter account in a way that will benefit you as part of your overall marketing strategy.

RE: Do Your Social Metrics Such As Tweets Transfer With a 301?
Sadly the answer is no if you only do a 301. Mike King recently wrote a great post on Search Engine Watch though that walks you through how to make it happen: http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2172926/How-to-Maintain-Social-Shares-After-a-Site-Migration.
Hope that helps!

RE: Facebook Share Metrics
Do you have a campaign set up for that site? If you add the Facebook account to a campaign you can see that info. Check out the attached screenshot from the SEOmoz account.

RE: Can't get Page Analysis for homepage - any ideas?
I'm wondering if there's a 302 redirect or something funky going on with that URL. Check the page in OpenSiteExplorer.org to see if there is something odd going on.

RE: Buying Facebook Likes...
Just wanted to jump in and give all of the answers here a high five! These answers are seriously spot on.

RE: Facebook "lockout"
I don't see any glaring SEO implications with this method, especially since page it's implemented on isn't indexed. The biggest issue I see would be the user experience. You might get a slow down in downloads from this, but if that sounds like it may not be a problem.
Hope that helps!

RE: Google Plus for clients
You're definitely on the right track. Unfortunately since Google is forcing us to use personal accounts, that's the best way to do it right now. You can transfer ownership of the account if that's ever needed.
If you do have the login/pass that was used to create the places page, you could then add your personal account as another admin as well.
This question/issue is sadly all too common when trying to set up a G+ page. I think you're going about it the best way possible!

RE: How to make FB comments crawlable by Google? ?
Hi! Do you use Wordpress? There is a plugin out there: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/crawlable-facebook-comments/ although I haven't used it personally.
Additionally, here's the post that Francisco mentioned previously: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/make-facebook-comments-box-indexable-by-search-engines.
I believe both options do the same thing, just that one is a plugin for Wordpress.
Hope that helps!

RE: Facebook Like on URLs
One way to see the differences is to use a free tool like http://sharedcount.com/ it shows you Facebook likes, shares and comments which are all different items.

RE: How to get power tweets & Likes for social signals!
Hi! Unfortunately to answer your last question, I don't think that using the Mozbar on specific pages will be overly helpful to determine those high authority accounts. While it will show you backlinks and overall page/domain authority it doesn't show you the number of followers, how often they tweet, how many retweets they get, etc.
Klout and similar services are an interesting way to finding influential/authoritative users, but it shouldn't be the only strategy. Each of the social sites has different ways to go about this and different tools exist. There are a number of great posts out there that about how to do this on the different platforms. Let me do some searches and I'll add them here!
Thanks,
Jen

I agree I think that's from Google+ - I'd check out Ripples: https://plus.google.com/ripple/details and see who all shared the post. You can see what our current post Ripples looks like here. Keep in mind you can only see Ripples for content shared publicly. Hope this helps!

Wow!! I hadn't heard that request before, that's a great idea. I'll pass it along to the product manager in charge of Rank Tracker. That makes a lot of sense!

Hi everyone!
So sorry about the issues with Rank Tracker. Our engineers are currently working on some fixes that we hope will go out very soon. Also, we're working on some major upgrades to the tool, so in the future you won't run into these sorts of issues.

RE: Anyone do SEO for facebook business pages? I'm having trouble with timeline layout.
Hi! Unfortunately there is only one layout for Facebook business pages now and it's the timeline format. I would use your Facebook page to help you rank for your name and branded terms and to grow your community, get your content out, etc. However, I wouldn't specifically focus the page for ranking for other terms.
For SEOmoz we've gone back and started adding milestones from the company's past to the timeline which shows a fuller picture of the company as a whole. I also like the fact that you can pin a post to stay at the top of the page which will help if you run ads and point to your page.
Hope this helps a bit.

RE: Are Facebook posts indexed?
No, Facebook content doesn't get indexed. Take a look at the SEOmoz Facebook page's cached, text version from google: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:chzSCnphy10J:www.facebook.com/SEOmoz&hl=en&gl=us&strip=1. The only content from the whole page is this:

RE: How to clean up a SERP?
I agree with what they've said above, but one piece that's been missed is Google+. Be sure to get a Google+ brand page set up and link it to the website and other social sites. When you do a search these days, not only do they show Google+ pages in the normal SERPs but they also show a callout on the right sometimes. Having a Google+ strategy is a necessity these days: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/why-every-marketer-now-needs-a-google-strategy

RE: Facebook likes - how can I tell how many likes a product page has?
Hi! A while back Tom Critchlow wrote a great post on how to use tools and APIs to gather Social Media data, I think this would help you out: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-track-your-social-media-strategy. Check out the post then scroll down to the part about using Google docs to connect to APIs. I think you should be able to do the same thing for your site if you have some sort of feed for your products.
Hope this helps!
