Oh oh oh! Yes! It's all coming back to me... that's a bug! It should be on your profile page and not your settings page. I'll get a ticket submitted for that right away. I knew the badge looked familiar just couldn't figure out where. doh! Thanks Greg!

RE: Is there an SEOMoz Pro badge?
Hi guys! Badges have long been on our to-do list but unfortunately the only "official" ones are on the badges page linked to previously. I love the idea of having a PRO badge though, and it's good to know people would like to have them. I'll be sure to let the team know about this thread and that there's an interest.
Thanks!

RE: Possible to force the SEOmoz Ranking Report to update?
Hi everyone! We had another question open up about the same topic and our VP of Engineering, Kate left a detailed response. I wanted to add a link to it here as well so if anyone came across this question they'd see the response as well:

Thanks!

RE: A Simple(ish) Q&A Improvement
Hi Marcus! This is a really great idea. We've actually passed this thread onto our Q&A product manager so we can get it in the queue. It will take a bit of work but it would be really beneficial to the community. Thanks for the idea!

RE: Is there a pro tool or google service that I can use to see which sites rank for certain terms? Without having to first identify the url's?
Yep! As Mark answered, check out our Keyword Difficulty tool: http://www.seomoz.org/keyword-difficulty - Although it only shows the top 10. But you get lots of data on those top ten sites ranking. Hope this helps!

RE: I can't see the new Facebook Insights.
I find that Facebook can be buggy like that sometimes. Usually if you try back a bit later or the next day you'll see it. I agree with Nick, it's interesting but not data you can do much with. It's cool to see how many times your brand has been talked about, but you don't get much more information than that. At least Facebook is trying to improve and give us more info, maybe the next phase will have even more data.
For now I wouldn't worry too much about it not working, give it a day or so and try again.

RE: Moderate blog comments Yes/No? Facebook comment plugin?
I agree with Ryan for the most part. Here at SEOmoz we get so many comments for each post that if we moderated each comment, it would seriously kill the conversation. However we have a team of people who watch for spam, plus we do have moderation set up for people who have less than 25 Mozpoints and have a link in their comment. At that point one of the team members has to approve the comment, remove a spammy link or delete the comment all together.
In general I'm not a fan of moderating especially if the person moderating checks comments infrequently. Nothing bothers me more than leaving a well thought out comment on someone's blog post in reply to the post itself or another comment and it taking 2 days to finally show up on the site. I wouldn't bother commenting on that blog again.
There's a fine line between moderating and keeping the spam out and if you can find that you're golden.
As for Facebook comments, I haven't personally implemented them on any sites but many people who use them have really loved it. Ryan linked to my post on using them and it seems like a great marketing/virality tool for sure. Facebook gives you easy moderation as well and I think it cuts back on spam quite a bit because it has to be a real user logged into Facebook in order to comment.
Hope this helps!

RE: Toolbar not working in Firefox
Hi! Is the toolbar still not working? I'm wondering if perhaps this was happening when we were having issues with the website. Normally as Rich stated, uninstalling and reinstalling works, sorry that didn't work! Another thing is, you need to make sure and have 3rd party cookies enabled.

RE: SEO & Social | More SEO effect by liking the page URL rather than the Facebook Page?
Hi Thomas,
I think this is a question that comes up often. One way to do it is to have both types on your page like we do on our blog. You'll notice the SEOmoz page "like" in the right nav bar, and the post "like" at the bottom of the post. If you're trying to figure out the best thing to do purely for SEO purposes, then I'd say you want them to like the actual URL of the content.
I say that because Google now shows social sharing in the SERPs. So if for example you're logged in and do a search, if you have a connected friend on FB who has shared content on that topic it would show their face in the SERPs.
Hope this helps!

RE: Urgent: Campaign set up 'Select Competitors' errors
Hi Ryan,
Unfortunately right now when you set up competitors you can only set it to a domain and not to a subfolder. The current URL you're trying to use for a competitor will cause errors because it's a subfolder of wikipedia.org. If you have any additional questions, feel free to email help@seomoz.org to contact the SEOmoz help team directly.

RE: SEOmoz pro campaign keyword rankings.
The ranking tool will show you any page on your domain that is ranking in the top 50 SERPs for that keyword. Hope that helps!

RE: How are you implementing TAGFEE?
haha love it! And you're right we say that all the time. Often times when I'm dealing with a tough situation, I'll think "How would Rand respond?" and do that!
-
RE: How are you implementing TAGFEE?
Thanks for posting this Jon, I really love this discussion. It's amazing to see people in the community wanting to be TAGFEE as well. When we first started talking about it internally I remember feeling a bit relieved. Each of the words and the overall meaning and feeling are so positive, I feel that it makes my job a bit easier. I always have these tenets top of mind and that means both at work and in life in general.
I've personally had a rough year with health issues and such and keeping TAGFEE in mind has helped to keep me focused and positive. I've also found that these also help me as a parent. I often find myself thinking "What's the TAGFEE way to respond to [this situation]". Now I'm not perfect and sometimes these principles can be hard to live by, but it gives me something to strive for and constantly want to be better.
Seeing the community wanting to implement these in their work/life as well makes me giddy! Thanks again for starting this thread.

RE: Blog - on the domain or place on separate site, now that Panda ranks for bounce, TOP, depth of visit
Hey Thomas, I just wanted to jump in here on this side topic. I'd hardly say that YOUmoz is a lesser quality blog, in fact many of our top posts each month/year come from YOUmoz. We do our best to keep the posts that show up in YOUmoz, as good of quality as the ones you see on the main blog. Obviously not everyone will agree on this, but I wanted to add my 2 cents. Thanks!

RE: Tweet or ReTweet?
I don't think there's a difference whether it's a tweet or a retweet, what's more important is the number of times that link is shared and the "influence" of the people sharing the link. I wouldn't worry too much about whether it's specifically a straight up tweet or a retweet though. They both help from what we've seen!

RE: How many people go to the Mozcon each year?
Hi! Last year we had around 300 attendees and the year before that there were around 250. This year we're expecting around 400. So although it's growing, it's still a small enough number where you get to meet one on one with speakers, and many of the other attendees. Hope this helps! By the way we'll be posting the full agenda next week sometime on the blog. So be sure to watch for that as well.

RE: I want to cancel my cancellation

RE: SEO for Korea - Naver & Daum
Sadly the edit button isn't working at the moment. I'll come back and edit when it's fixed.

RE: SEO for Korea - Naver & Daum
Ouch! It seems that Stephen was trying to be helpful here. I don't think he was trying to be overly promotional. I've edited your comment as that's just not how we roll. Sometimes it's just not possible to get an answer to your question. This is obviously out of the lines of many of our members. I'll run it past the Moz team to see if anyone has specific input.
Please in the future, do not use cuss words and I'd appreciate if you didn't put down other members.
Thanks
-
RE: Mozpoints not updating
Yes! I just noticed that now too, I'll have dev get this fixed asap. Thanks
-
RE: Can anyone edit their comments?
Thanks everyone! Sending this over to the dev team to make sure it's on the list to fix.

RE: Navigation Links in Footer
One thing to know is that Google often devalues footer links, so while it's usually not a problem to have links in the footer, don't expect them to bring you lots of linkjuice love.

RE: How can I get a listing of just the URLs that are indexed in Google
A bit of a teaser... our new Firefox toolbar that's coming out soon will have the ability in the SERP overlay to download the page of SERPs
-
RE: How can I get a listing of just the URLs that are indexed in Google
Ooh that would be great to let others use, maybe even a YOUmoz post?
-
RE: How much attention do you pay to hashtags in your tweets?
I can't remember which conference it was at the moment, but a Googler talked about how if you have too many hashtags they see that as spam and it might not make it into the real time search. I know some people just have fun with the hashtags, but we use them in our tweets for things like #SEO #socialmedia #analytics, etc whenver it makes sense.

RE: MozCon access from overseas
Hi! Yes we do plan on recording it and you'll be able to buy the video after. We might even live-stream a couple of the sessions.
Thanks!

RE: MozCon Question: When are you getting rates for hotel lodging?
Hi! We'll be sending out an email to everyone who's already registered about Hotel pricing and blocks this week. We have a nice discounted rate at the Westin and have been working on getting rates at a couple hotels nearby as well. We'll post the information on the MozCon registration page as well.
Sorry about the delay!

Thanks!

RE: Is there any online tool you can suggest for monitoring facebook activities such as shares - likes etc
Hi! You're in luck, coming soon to your campaigns will be a social tool that measures and tracks Facebook and Twitter. Have you checked out the FB insights? It gives you quite a bit of data. Another tool I like is http://mediafeedia.com/ which lets you schedule FB statuses and things like this.
Also, did you know you can get FB insights for your site, and not just your page? Go to www.facebook.com/insights and in the upper right corner you'll see a button "Insights for your Website". Add your info and they give you a little piece of code that you add to your header file (like for webmaster tools). Then you start getting FB insights for FB interactions to your site, and not just to your FB page!
Hope this helps!

RE: I just discovered something about Addthis shares, Twitter, and rel-canonical.
Interesting, Dr Pete has seen similar things happening when using the official twitter retweet button as well. I'm hoping he'll chime in here as well.

RE: I'm aware that spamming tools can lead to ruin..what do you use as a backlink strategy.
Hello my friends! It looks like the conversation has gotten a bit heated here. Before I say anything else I'd love it if you all would take a read through the SEOmoz Community Etiquette page. This Q&A forum is about helping out our fellow SEOs and not about attacking or yelling at other members.
As you're asking or answering questions, try thinking about the tone the of the message and the kind of responses it might find. I always love to see a healthy debate but please keep personal attacks out of it.
Thanks!

RE: "Opt Out" of free month through MozPoints
Wow. It's times like this that make me feel so proud to be a part of this amazing community. Unfortunately there isn't a way to opt out of the free month, but I do appreciate where you're coming from! It's interesting to hear that it makes you feel uncomfortable to know that you could be rewarded for your efforts. But think about this, the reason we offer rewards is to help keep the Q&A forum at the top of its game. And from what I can tell, that is exactly what you help do by participating. I might not be able to change your feelings about this, but I hope that not being able to opt out, doesn't mean you'll stop adding to the community. Because we need more of you.
Oh yea... and pizza and fruit baskets would be a hit in the office.

RE: SEOmoz Toolbar vs. Opensiteexplorer
Hi! OSE and the toolbar do use the same data, they both pull from the Linkscape index. It would be helpful to take a look at a specific URL so I can help point out what's what. But one thing to note, as Daniel already mentioned, when you're looking at the toolbar it shows both Page data and Root Domain data. In OSE at first glance you're getting just the data for that page. If you click on the "Full List of Link Metrics" tab, you'll see the exact same numbers.
Hope this helps! I'm happy to help further by looking at specific URLs.
Thanks!

RE: MozCon Registration - When can we register?
Sorry! And by "tomorrow" I mean early next week. Sorry it got pushed back a couple days. But it's soon.. soon! Sign up at the mozcon page and you'll get emailed as soon as the registration goes up.

RE: What's with the new Q&A set up?
Hmm that's actually a bug I believe... I don't think you should be able to thumb yourself up at all. I'll need to check on it, but I think you shouldn't be able to.
