RE: Redirect non www. domain to WWW. domain for established website?
If you do a 301 redirect from one URL to the other using Google Webmaster Tools, you should be ok. Try to do the 301 to specific pages that relate to the content on the main site. You may see a dip in traffic however over time that should recover.

RE: Page Title in Local SEO Title Tags?
the title of the page is ok to include as it does benefit the visitor when they are looking through the search results in Google. However you can shorten it. (Contact, instead of Contact Us, About Instead of About Us)

RE: I'm worried my client is asking me to post duplicate content, am I just being paranoid?
Hi Steven,
Welcome to this community. The ideal response to your question would be to take the content that the client is providing and come up with unique content based on that material. So essentially rewriting those content pieces and giving your own flavor to them. Now , of course, due to various reasons that might not be possible (time, budget, resources). In that case it's best to give credit to the original source where you got the content from, when you add it to the site. More info in the links below:

RE: Page Title in Local SEO Title Tags?
Hi Tyler,
My thoughts would be to go with the keyword+location. Also the keyword or location should not be mentioned more than 2 times in the title tag.

RE: Does PR/linkjuice get transfered from directory->subdirectory?
Hi Jorge,
Option 1 would be good if you have a lot of sub pages that can be classified under the "utilities" section. This would also help the search engines to index and classify your site pages better also benefitting you on the SEO side
Option 2 would be recommended if you don't have a lot of content that can be classified under "utilities"
Think about the user first and what would be benefit them. To directly answer your question, in my opinion , the closer the link to the home page the better it would be from an SEO perspective.

These links below should give you a good idea on the steps needed for optimizing your site.

RE: What are the relative values of different PageRanks?
Hi Alex, i would suggest you to consider the following:
- Relevancy of the links as opposed to their page rank related to your subject matter
- The # of outbound links on the page where you are getting these links from. The lesser the # of outbound links on that page , the better that link is
- Competition for the keywords. What is the link profile for the sites that are ranking high for the keyword you are trying to optimize your site for
- Google has reduced the frequency of updating the true page rank of sites so using that as a factor to choose your backlinks would not be a good idea.

RE: Adding my web link on wikiquote, is it ok?
If you can get a link from that site to yours, go for it.

RE: My Rank on serp keep decreasing for last 4 days, why?
Hi Rafiqul,
The site overall does not seem like it is user friendly. All i see are ads on the site and not a lot of quality content. The keyword "love messages" has been over used on the home page and might be the cause of a penalty. I also see that you are using "infolinks" that highlights different keywords on your page. From a visitor standpoint, it's not very appealing and might be causing some issues.
-
RE: Suggestions for good ranking
Your site appears to be spammy and not offering quality content to the visitors. The keyword "earn money online" has been used over 12 times , just in the meta data itself, This kind of over optimization is bound at attract a penalty. You have to write for the visitor and provide meaningful content, there are spelling errors on the site. This will not only impact your rankings but also the perception that visitors have of your site.

RE: Penalty recovery gone
Hi Ian,
You might still be having bad links associated with your site, that's why you've gone down in traffic again. Check to see if the drop in traffic was associated with any of Google's updates here . Check your competitors and the keywords that they are outranking you for. Are they better optimized for those keywords?

RE: Tips to Merge Two Domains?
Hi Christian,
You highlighted excellent sources for reference. You can apply the 301 redirect to move the domain. Ideally 301 the specific pages to domain 2 that relate to the same product info as domain 1. This way when someone clicks on a product page for domain 1 that is still ranking , they see a similar page on domain 2 when they are redirected.

RE: How to produced amazing contents
hmm, just hire some quality copywriters either on staff or freelance based on your budget. Research keywords for them to write on and get started? Hope i understood the question correctly

RE: Use of Location Folders
Hi Steve,
I'd like to reference this site www.cityfeet.com that i did in one of my earlier posts. This site ranks extremely well for any geo targeted search for the keyword "office space for lease" . Type in " office space for lease dallas" or "office space for lease new york" they are always in the top search results. Their URL structure is below:
http://www.cityfeet.com/cont/new-york-office-space
http://www.cityfeet.com/cont/tx/dallas-office-space
So it seems like you may have to adopt a dual structure on the site. For the more competitive search terms you can have the keyword close to the domain name. For the others , you can have a state abbreviation and the city keyword next.

RE: Adwords Conversion Optimiser
I would agree with Dana. We tried it for one of our clients spending $1000 a day in the franchising industry and our results plumetted. It reduced our impressions massively thus impacting our # of leads and increasing our cost per lead. Some things are just done best the good ole fashioned manual way :):)
-
RE: Thoughts on how to make this page better
My suggestion would be to do a series of follow up posts on this related topic and optimize them for related keywords that are getting traction out there. We had a similar situation with one of our clients . The post addressed the topic of the best days of the week to buy airline tickets. (It is Wednesday, in case you're wondering what it is :)) . It was hugely successful and the client wrote a series of follow up posts to that and they all did fairly well. He linked them all together so one fed the other in terms of traffic.

RE: Slow Website Crawling
Tanveer, your site speed might have something to do with it. Please take a look at the GT Metrix report that i ran for your site on this link. It grades your site speed as a "F". Also gives you recommendations on what you need to do to fix it. Once you fix the site speed issue,i think the indexing issue will be solved.

RE: Back Link Question
no way to tell for sure except for looking at dates when the traffic dropped and when the Google updates took place. I've added the change history link for your reference.
Hope this helps
-
RE: Back Link Question
Have you suffered any penalty or loss in rankings/traffic. If you have then the answer is yes, use the disavow tool to report all the suspected bad links to Google. If you have not then a suggested route would be to contact those directories and get your site removed.

RE: Site unaffected by algo changes until this month- why?
Hi Paul,
Do you have year over year data in analytics so you can compare Nov performance this year to last year. It might be seasonal or perhaps an over optimization penalty for the keyword "uncontested divorce". I see it used on the page 7-8 times. Wait till next month and if the drop in traffic continues then you may have suffered the penalty. Try redoing the on site elements and reduce the keyword density. Hopefully that works.

RE: Different serps
Ian,
I suggest using the ad preview tool https://adwords.google.com/d/AdPreview/ . The ad preview tool generally gives the most accurate results by specifying the geo location when you're doing your search.
Cheers,

RE: Should I nofollow search results pages
Don't use the "no follow" attribute. The only time i'd recommend using "no follow" is on pages where you have external links . Blog comment pages, resources page etc.

RE: Should i do "Article Marketing" for my quotes site?
Stay away from article marketing and switch over to Press release writing and submissions. PR is perceived more positively than article marketing and you essentially get the same opportunity to build links with PR syndication.

RE: Should I nofollow my blog "read more" links?
I think that the "read more" link would result in better user experience especially on the main blog page that has a lot of blog titles displayed on it. So yep, don't worry about it, you can keep using it.
-
RE: Should I nofollow my blog "read more" links?
Don't worry about adding the "no follow" , Google's smart enough to figure out the duplicate "read more" links on your site and index accordingly. You don't want to cause issues by adding the "no follow" and potentially having any legitimate internal links jeopardized on that page.
-
RE: Hidden keywords - how many per page?
I would suggest optimizing one keyword per page . Google's been really aggressive with the over optimization penalty. Better to be safe than sorry.
Also want to clarify that having a keyword in the alt text or the URL is not technically "hiding" the keyword. The word "hiding" can have a strong connotation to black hat SEO (e.g old tactics like making the keyword font the same color as the background of your site)

RE: Similar pages: noindex or rel:canonical or disregard parameters?!
You could use the pagination attribute on those pages to indicate a relationship between the different URL's.

RE: Shorter checkout form converts better? Or can it be harmful?
Yep, would still look a little shady to me but then again that's my opinion based on how i shop on the net. Test it out and see what happens.
-
RE: Shorter checkout form converts better? Or can it be harmful?
I'd keep the billing address. Without it, the form would look a little suspicious. If your brand has a strong awareness and the visitors are quite familiar with your site then you might get away with it.
I would still recommend A/B testing to prove what works better for your app conversions. You did mention that you don't have a sufficient # of users however that just means that it would take longer to determine a winner when you do the A/B test. At least this way you know for sure which method worked.

RE: Ranking Internationally
I'd recommend option 4, using a sub domain and specifying the geo target in webmaster tools . I should add that you might have a tough time using this strategy in some countries like Austria and France where country specific TLD's tend to rank better.
Rand covered this topic in one of his whiteboard sessions. Link

I suggest you also read this post here and the comments. Discusses the issue at length.
-
RE: How to rank for more then one keyword
there is no hard and fast rule with reference to the keyword density, however you should be ok if you use the keyword 3-4 times on a page , of course, keeping the context , relevancy as well as the page length in mind.

RE: URL Structure for Home Decorating site
I'd base the site structure/taxonomy on the user experience and the relevant content that you have for the different categories and sub categories. The main thing is to ask yourself this question " will the user benefit from my site if i have all my site info divided into these categories and sub categories.
In your case for the category i would suggest myhomedecoratingsite.com/room/master-suite/ (however instead of the keyword "room" try searching for another keyword. For the post , i'd suggest myhomedecoratingsite.com/room/master-suite/beautiful-modern-suite/ . The taxonomy also depends on how easy it is for the user to find your content or drill down with the options provided from the category to the sub category. Use breadcrumb links on all the pages.
Here's a Link addressing this topic
Her's another post by Dr. Pete on this topic

RE: How to rank for more then one keyword
Add more content, each page should typically be optimized for only one keyword. The more content, the better on your site and each page can be targeted towards a particular keyword theme.

RE: Video Conversions
-
The conversion factor depends more on the video/offering itself as opposed to the voice.
-
definitely, a voice is better than just music. It makes it more personal when you have a voice in the background as opposed to video.

RE: Keywords for fabrication (welding) company??
Go to a list broker company like www.infousa.com, they have a nice classification of industries as a part of the list selection process and you can find sub categories related to your industry type. That's another way of finding closely related keywords.
Here is the Link.
