Agree with Alick3000, broad match modified keywords would be far more attractive, and as per link values, nothing would be driven by this process.

Using broad match allows you to match a series of keywords to any longtail phrase. Providing the +keywords you use are present, then your advert/adverts will potentially appear.

As per +summer +dresses - from Alick300 - this would match both of your longtail ideas and more.

e.g.

Top 10 highest rated summer dresses Popular dresses for the summer weather.
Where can I buy spring/summer ladies dresses blue summer dresses size 10 dresses with a summer print
etc

As you can see it gives you a much wider target whilst still being specific to your needs.

Hey Judd, I also agree with Martin.

I would suggest reducing the number of articles on your homepage. The homepage is more of a gateway to introduce further primary content, services and products of your site. A space to sell and entice your audience. I think by having so many articles you are potentially causing more distractions that necessary.

More content about your business and services would also be more beneficial than the blog content.

Maybe just have a single row for your blog, featuring a single article from each of your categories. That way hopefully you will enable your services to shine a little more whilst still retaining some peripheral related content seo value.

If people are searching for your blog content and you rank well, the articles themselves will predominately be the landing pages rather than your home page.

If you have lots of inline css, but would like to implement a site wide style change - e.g. changing text size, or your updating your brands colours - any inline css could stop this from taking affect fully and instead of a quick change to a single line of css in a stylesheet, you could potentially have to update hundreds of files wasting time and effort that could be spent elsewhere.

I currently use rank tracker from  seo powersuite as i can track everything I need in there against 5 of my competitors. Another good alternative is SerpFox.

I understand why this is probably a difficult situation, but I would probably look into your Search Console terms to see what people are typing the most.

Being from the UK like yourself I would probably type in Henry Vacuum despite the brand actually being Numatic. As growing up I was always told it was simply a Henry vacuum or Henry Hoover, however working in industry, people may refer to them as Numatic etc.

Your search console will probably provide the best idea as to what to target, but as it stands I'd still hope to rank somewhere with what you already have.

As a suggestion maybe try a few titles based on Item - Category - Brand

Henry Xtra Vacuum Cleaner - Numatic Vacuums - [websiteName]

And then repeat your title experiments after a while to see what works best.

From what I can gather the DNS is fine, our A records are only pointing to our website? if it was DNS what would be missing?

SSL is fine and so is our DNS from what I can gather.

I do get one notification for a blocked resource but this is an external element? will this cause any issues?

Recently, well a couple of months back, I finally got around to switching our sites over to HTTPS://. In terms of rankings etc all looks fine and we have not move about much, only the usual fluctuations of a place or two on a daily basis in a competitive niche. All links have been updated, redirects in place, the usual https domain migration stuff.

I am however, troubled by one thing!

I cannot for love nor money get Google to fetch my site in GSC. No matter what I have tried it continues to display "Temporarily unreachable". I have checked the robots.txt and it is on a new https:// profile in GSC.

Has anyone got a clue as I am stumped! Have I simply become blinded by looking too much??? Site in Q. caravanguard co uk.

Make sure nothing has changed or gone missing from your schema.

Your agency is clearly telling a lie that it is no longer being used. - type in "car insurance" and you will see loads.

As far as I am aware digital agencies don't host reviews. The only Google "review" partners I am aware of are listed on the link  below.

Like you said it could be temporary and there have been instances of bugs in the past which have stopped them displaying, or Google may have chosen to stop reviews for your niche - or are others still displaying?

Have they chosen another site to show the ratings over yours?

We also use review mark-up. We use it based on aggregated / combined scores - say 200 reviews average 4.7 out of 5 etc.

As far as I am aware Google is still using this schema markup and it is indeed showing up for us at press.

The one thing to consider however, is that Google chooses to either show the rating or not. Just because you have it in place does not mean they will use it. If the rest of your niche also uses the schema you may find that Google will only select a few at a time.

I've just logged out and re-logged in with a seperate user account and it's showing in there. It's very sporadic... one minute works, next it doesn't, clearly a bug in play.

And now its gone again!!!

Hey Alick300 - looks to be back up again as of this morning, clearly must of been an issues with GA.

Yesterday my funnel visualisation tab in the updated GA interface was showing data flow. However today there is nothing showing in the graphical element despite showing some goal completion figures as a headline.

Have they stopped doing up to the minute visualisation in favour of delayed results?

Anyone else experiencing similar?

As per Martijn you could indeed just secure the areas you want, but personally I would suggest adding the SSL to the entire site encompassing all pages. That way you can potentially get a small boost for your site from Google for taking users security seriously, but also if you have the ability you could also adopt the http/2 transfer protocol to allow for a speedier connection to your friends site, again giving them a potential serp boost.

On https://optimize.google.com/ - there is a sign up form link on the page to request beta access - although it could be a while before you are accepted as they appear to manual accept users. While it is in beta it is free, I am not sure if that will change.

Is it the best solution??? personally once you have done a couple of tests you will be able to gauge this for yourself. I have also used https://www.optimizely.com/ which is another similar solution, both have had similar results in terms of experimentation results and analysis.

I am however unsure on the rules regarding currency characters in Meta titles and nothing has come up after a quick search.

If you are based in the UK and only targeting UK search then I would imagine the £ symbol will work fine for most but sometimes foreign/geo related characters don't show correctly in some browsers. The best thing you can do is to try it out and measure the changes in your SERPs for the main terms surrounding this monetary offer.  You may see a boost in your CTR if your offer is compelling enough, even if you see a drop in the SERPS by a place or two.

So, Test and Measure is my advice,

Hi there AspenFasteners, in this instance rather than a .HTAccess rule I would suggest applying a rel canonical tag which points to the page you deem as the original master source.

Using the robots to try and hide things could potentially cause you more issues as your categories may struggle to be indexed correctly.

It has been a bit all over for a while now. Hoping your post gets them to look in to this a bit further. I take pride in knowing I am highly ranked, but ever since it went funny I have become unsure if that is actually the case - am I really position 1681 rather than 70-80 last week ???

Hey there JoaoCJ, personally I would recommend trying to keep the H1 on both sites, I would imagine it would be better for mobile users and the mobile indexation of the site to have it.

If you are worried it is too big I adapt the H1 css to make it not as big or prominent to ensure it fits the look and feel you want for mobile users.

I wouldn't say that they have created two pages, it is just that because you have two versions of the domain and not set a preferred version that you are getting it indexing twice. .HTaccess changes are under the hood of the website and could have simply been an oversight.

OK, so in this instance the only issue you have is that you need to choose your preferred start point - www or non www.

I would add a bit of code to your htaccess file to point to your preferred choice. I personally prefer a www. domain. Something like the below would work.

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.com$
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]

As your site is already indexed I would also for the time being and as more of a safety measure add canonicals to the pages that point to the www. version of your site.

Also if you have  a Google Search Console account, you can select your prefered domain prefix in there. this will again help with your indexation.

First off, I would imagine you need your wordpress installation to be inside a /blog/ directory on your server, unless you can do some fancy redirect.

Secondly, in order to change the URL structure from post id / post name. You can do this in your wordpress settings.

Go to -> Settings -> Permalinks.

You will need to select a custom structure, something like
/%postname%/

or if you wish to keep hold of the ID 
/%postname%-%post_id%/

Then save your settings.

Hopefully that does the trick.

Personally, I would probably canonicalise the category pages to the original base category to reduce the risk of duplicate content. But that is just me.

I would also suggest setting up your website in Google's Search Console. Once in here you can then set the crawl rate and other crawl elements such as URL Parameters.

First if not already done - add your website. Once your site is verified - either by a meta tag, google tag manager or maybe a hosted file, you can then edit what happens.

On the side menu of the profile in question select -> Crawl -> URL Parameters

Once in this section you can add the variables you do not want indexing.

While in here I would also suggest submitting an XML Sitemap and checking a few other things. If you also have Google Analytics set up you can link your profiles together for added benefits.

Try this for a complete site wide redirect to HTTPS://

I have also updated all my exiting 301 redirect to point to the new location. All older pages should be caught under this rule.

Also remember to update your Search Console profiles, sitemap, robots etc

I would also update all internal links to point to https:// rather than relying purely on the redirect.

I suppose it all depends on who set up the account in the first place, if they did all the ground work and set up the campaigns, and ad groups then they probably don't have to let you see it. I would rather have my account set up in house initially then grant access to third parties who then get tagged as an editor etc, that way you remain as the account holder.

I do not think it unreasonable that you have asked for evidence of what they are bidding on, negatived keywords, search terms, ad trials, optimisation etc. It is all basic data that can be shared. Like Egol said, look into your contract and see what they should be divulging via their reports etc.

Finally....
Are they proving their worth? If not consider outsourcing to someone/ some agency that can or is willing to share, build a relationship and improve.

Hmmmm, Google will likely deem your widget as an advertising tool and in their world this is potentially deemed negative, as such you have to make the call, do you want to stay on Google side and follow what they say or continue and then fall foul to some kind of penalty.

I personally would add rel="nofollow" to be on the safe side. Hopefully this won't dramatically affect your rankings.

Could you potentially trial the nofollow on a segment of the plugins to see how it impacts your rankings. Scary I know, but possibly the only way you can see how it could affect you.

Like Donna, I too cannot find any mention of Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager on your website. because of this you will not be getting any data from a visitor perspective to your pages being shown in your reports.

I like Seo RoundTable from Barry Schwartz and also some of  those already list above especially for up to the minute search engine changes and trials that have been seen.

As per Egol's comment - I too have probably learnt more about SEO technique and current topics from the Moz Q&A than anywhere else. To the point where I am now vastly more confident in my knowledge of the area and can now try and help others.

It almost seems like they have paid a link farm to place your links anywhere with the aim of getting as many as they can, to make it look like they have done lots of work.

If all the links are like these, I would potentially look to reach out to these sites and request the links be taken down before they cause your link profile any harm. I would also check each link for relevancy to your site.

I would concentrate on letting your content earn links, create content that your user base wants to share with their friends, colleagues and businesses. This way you will generate a more natural and hopefully relevant series of links that get placed with more relevant content on other sites.

Like Chris has alluded to, they are very different tools, Hubspot from what I know and have played with is a CRM solution aimed more at the sales cycle and used to help you develop a single customer view and enable automated interactions, yes it include some metrics but mostly sales related from what I've seen.

Moz on the other hand Is more for your SEO development and provides metrics on how your site performs and develops.

if funds allow, I would also look to have both tools as part of my armoury... Hubspot for the wider marketing automations, journeys and sales and Moz for your sites development to help support your CRM marketing.

Unfortunately, this does sometimes happen when Google tries to establish what it feels is the best and more relevant description of the page thus overriding your meta description.. You may find it pulls from your opening paragraph or elsewhere.

I would suggest looking to st re-indexing your changes - maybe resubmit your site via webmastertools (Google Search Console) )for a recrawl.

Also and this may not be the case, but if you have a listinf on Yahoo or the OpenDirectory/DMoz, sometimes content can be pulled in from there to replace your descriptions.  Maybe look to add the following meta tag to remove this issue.

You are not the only one. I too have had the staff badge showing up for myself for a bit and also have seen the mixed rankings being displayed.

This is a strange one then.... very strange.

Just performed a site: search and like you said it is not showing up as indexed. There is normally something technical to explain an issue like this, but I cannot see anything after looking at your site robots and source code.

I think Krzysztof has nailed it.... think about the site you are commenting on for links. make sure it is relevant, high quality and moderated well.

If you are potentially touting your business I would also advise requesting the link is set to no-follow for safety and to ensure you do not get penalised for it.

I also think you should make sure the link is 100% useful to the users who will also see it.

Hmmm, is it a case of Google simply feels the homepage is not as engaging and relevant in terms of search to your users and they put more emphasis on product pages which it choose to feature instead.

I often find that for key terms our product pages almost always rank higher then the homepage unless a brand only search.

Secondly, is this a recent change? Could the most recent Penguin update have simply resulted in your competitors getting a boost where as before the previous algo was holding them back which has resulted in your position slide.

UGC or User Generated Content can be extremely powerful and add huge weighting to your sites SEO value, but it also has a another effect  that helps with customer credibility.

As users come along and see real comments that are related to the topic, offer advice, show valued reviews etc it will then results in your content becoming potentially becoming an authority on specific subjects. Take these Moz Questions for example - some of the questions can be very small and to the point, but it is often the huge number of user generated responses that propels the questions up the search result page.

So in essence UGC is extremely valuable - just ensure you lock down the bots and spammers and some types of user data (e.g. links, html etc) which can do the reverse and make you less credible as a source.

I very much doubt they have replicated anything of Google's at all and are simply using this as a selling technique to entice those whom do not have the required knowledge to dismiss such claims. The clients may lap it up thinking they will be getting the best deal and will shoot up the rankings.

They are like Egol stated probably just using numerous tools and techniques and saying they have insider secrets etc.

You now have to convince the client that you are the best "Captain to steer the Ship" so to speak!

You could use a tool like Buffer which will help you to auto generate a schedule based on your post / page activity and engagement. Alternatively you could delve in to your data a bit more to see when followers are online. By understanding when the majority are online you can then try establish the greatest reach,

It can be a bit sporadic, sometimes I see data and sometimes I don't I recently reported an error for the page.

So far very little change, in terms of positions and organic traffic. I however, expect more volatility in the coming weeks as things start to bed down.

1. Maybe perform a deeper search via a bit of kit like ScreamingFrog. This should help to further highlight any missing pages / errors etc

2. I would always be concerned with any problem until you have either been able to resolve it or discount it. Sounds like it could be the URL tracking parameters which are causing you some issues, especially if you are tracking users for multiple sources / sales affiliates. If they are solely used for tracking and no other purpose I would consider adding these parameter vairables to the crawl filters.
