    Hi Mozzers, I am doing a web maintenance task for a client and it's been weeks that Moz is detecting 49 duplicate pages ( contact page). I thought resolving the issue when creating the xml sitemap and excluding those duplicates. The moz tool would still detect them, so I went in making a search with some of these duplicate to check if they were indexed but non of them were indexed. So my question is has anyone recently experienced similar issues? Is the moz tool not 100% accurate? Thanks for sharing your thoughts and answers

    Hello Guys, Please someone explain  how the keyword difficulty tool works and decides the difference super competitive v easy to rank keyword. Also the performance of this tool has been really bad since August i have been getting errors i.e. try again in 20 minutes. Thank you in advance for your replies 🙂

    Hello SEOMOZ Community I hope you can answer my following question. I’ve used the Keyword Difficulty and SERPS to analyse why my competitors seem to be higher than me in the SERPS for a certain keyword. The only problem I can see when I’ve done the full report is that our website has no internal links to the page we are trying to rank for, however when I go into Google webmasters tools  it’s stating we have over 99,000 links. Can you please let me know why this is showing in the report? Many Thanks Matt

    I've recently redeveloped a static site using WordPress and have created 301 redirects for the original urls to the new urls.  I know I won't get all the value passed via the 301, but I'm hoping some will.  Any idea how long this may take? It's been nearly a month since the changeover so wondering if it would be weeks, months or more?

    I was told by SEO Moz to do a redirect so that our website would be crawled with and without the www in front of the address. I did and now I'm getting duplicate page and title errors because the crawler is seeing www.oursitename.com and its underpages and oursitename.com and its underpages and giving me duplicate page content errors and duplicate page title errors. Makes sense, but how do I make it stop? Anyone else have this problem?

    SEO Moz has found a bunch of duplicate content errors on one of my sites because blog archives has created a new page for each tag. For example: http://examplesite.com/blog/tag/travel http://examplesite.com/blog/tag/travel-photography http://examplesite.com/blog/tag/tours http://examplesite.com/blog/tag/accommodations The above urls are just tags for the same exact page, hence making them all duplicates. Is it normal for each tag to be a separate page? Do the search engines see this as duplicate content? If so, how do I correct this issue if I want to keep the tags? Regards,Dino

    I just ran into a problem that I hadn't expected. Testing the Keyword Difficulty I saw the results contained a result for a page that has Domain Authority=1 and Page Authority=1. As a result, Keyword Difficulty was reduced (compared to last month), which may actually be reversed if the site is crawled. Sadly, I didn't run the report on the figures as it was a small project. Questions: Can I rely on results shown by Keyword Difficulty? Are results where Domain Authority =1 are used to calculate Keyword Difficulty? If so, why is that? Is there any difference between a page that has received no links and a page that OSE/Mozscape has no link data for? The problem Using the Keyword Difficulty tool, I found swings of up to 14% in Keyword Difficulty (between Oct -Nov). Dr Pete may suggest that this is because of changes in Google's index ( http://www.seomoz.org/blog/a-week-in-the-life-of-3-keywords ). However, It would be helpful to have a figure for Keyword Difficulty that isn't affected by the gaps in the Mozscape data. The (bad) solution You can mirror something close to Keyword Difficulty using: =(Sum of Page Authorities + Sum of Domain Authorities )/20 Right now, I have resorted to manually calculating keyword difficulty. I use the SEOMoz Page Authority & Domain Authority figures and a quick splash of Excel SUMIF and COUNTIF. I find the results don't look as 'easy' when I can ignore results where the data is unknown (PageAuthority=1 & DomainAuthority = 1). Background Info One result I still have a report on is for the phrase [fixing your business puzzle] using US Results on Google. For the specific result, I found the additional information about the site: DNS lookup shows the domain was registered in 2010
    Archive.org shows no records
    OSE shows no data for the site
    Site uses https
    Google showing No links
    Robots.txt file seems fine
    No Sitemap.xml

    http://www.aa-rental.com/Audio_Rental.asp Can fetching both in google webmaster will take care of the problem? Also these are coming from an external link.

    Hello world 🙂 I have searched among tons of quality articles here on forums, but surprisingly I haven't found topic that goes into the deep water when it comes to a specific KW rich domain problem. Let me first state that I'm mainly based this topic on the information found in following blog posts by randfish (that guru with the beard). http://www.seomoz.org/blog/exact-match-domains-are-far-too-powerful-is-their-time-limited and http://www.seomoz.org/blog/google-vs-bing-correlation-analysis-of-ranking-elements My questions is only related to RANKING aspect of the domains - NOT how is sounds, smell or dance. As all good simple .COM KW domain combinations are already taken, only thing that is left is to be a bit creative using non .COMs exact match, hyphens .COM exact match, all query terms .COM with a letter or word added etc. QUESTION and case study I found a good keyword phrase, let us called it 'super domain' with low competition & high monthly searches and great revenue possibilities. Naturally, first step is to acquire a exact match .COM domain (EMD). But, of course, that is not possible because 'superdomain.com' and super-domain.com has already been taken by some greedy domain broker waiting someone to pay $1.000.000 for it. Not an option. What options do I got? OPT1)  superdomainA.COM (keyword phrase with added 'A' at the end) OR OPT2) superdomain.ORG/NET/INFO (keyword phrase on non .COM TLD) I couldn't find any studies with test and clear results regarding this subject. This is VERY important because, regarding to the links I posted, there is a 0.10 better correlation if choosing OPT1)  superdomainA.COM, even if using exact match domain OPT2) superdomain.ORG/NET. But they haven't been cross tested in that results in the same post. So it's big '?' sign to me. As SEO market is getting more and more competitive, it is important to not leave anything to chance. I would appreciate if randfish, or anybody else could give some inputs about this. Thanks in advance!

    I am testing Pro. About 250 pages of content at my website. Pro says ALL of my pages have duplicate titles., but when I click on details, they display as unique titles. Ie: first page of results of Pro is as follows. While the content of my website is on one major topic the title meta tags are NOT identical. Is this an issue with Pro, or is Pro looking at something other than the title meta tags? Please advise ?     My Google +'s for my domain were 403 last month and 35 this month.... Based on this I'm assuming OSE's numbers are not cumulative.  Are they based on the previous month or a different time period? Any explanations would be helpful. Thanks!

    Is there a way to manually refresh the "Rankings" part of a campaign? I know about the Rank Tracker tool but didn't have a lot of keywords set up there. So I need to refresh the Rankings in the Campaign to know exactly which rankings have dropped in the past few hours... any way to do that?

    I've noticed that for some country top level domains (tld) the domain authority returned by open site explorer is based on the domain that has been registered within the tld. For example, domainname.co.uk provides a domain authority specific to the domain. However, for some other country top level domains, this does not appear to be the case.  Examples I have found include: domainname.co.nr domainname.co.pt domainname.co.ee For these top level domains the domain authority seems to be the same for every domainname, seemingly implying the domain authority is for the top level domain itself rather than for the domain. Is this a common situation for many country top level domains, so that what I see going in here is the tip of a large iceberg, or does this situation just apply to a very isolated set of country top level domains?

    The SEOmoz crawl report shows me a large amount of duplicate content sites. Our site is built on a CMS that creates the link we want it to be but also automatically creates it's own longer version of the link (e.g. http://www.federalnational.com/About/tabid/82/Default.aspx and http://www.federalnational.com/about.aspx). We set the site up so that there are automatic redirects for our site. Google Webmaster does not see these pages as duplicate pages. Why does SEOmoz consider them duplicate content? Is there a way to weed this out so that the crawl report becomes more meaningful? Thanks!

    Hi All I have just joined on the trial offer, im not sure if i can afford the monthly payments, but im hoping SEOmoz will show me that i also cannot afford to be without it! In my proses of learning this site and flicking through each section to see what things do. However when i enter my URL into Site Explorer i get the following message "No Data Available for this URL" My site should be crawl-able, so how do i get to see data for my site/s. I wont post my URL here, as the site has a slightly adult theme.
    If anyone could confirm if i can post "slightly adult" sites. Best Regards

    I have run a crawl diagnostic on my site and have 194 errors and most of them are 404 errors in wordpress. Not sure why, but many of my pages had name changes (possibly a permalinks issue) but I have no idea how to fix it. I had 5 duplicate page titles, and 1 tile missing or empty. 72 crawl notices found (2 permanent redirect, 17 blocked by robots, 53 rel canonical) 19 Crawl warnings were found Who wants to have some fun?

    Today is  8/29/11.  Why does my traffic data still show data from 8/8/11?  It says last data update 8/15/11 but there is no 8/15 data showing.  I should be able to view 8/22 by now.  This is way behind.  I'm a newbie so hook me up.  What am I missing?  It was updating every Monday but not anymore.

    So I'm trying to find a bunch of redirects that SeoMoz is reporting that were created by Wordpress but I can't seem to find. I'm finding a bunch of redirects FROM pages like this: www.mysite.com/wp-content/themes/mimbo/page-name.com redirecting to www.mysite.com/page-name.com Anybody have any idea how I can track down the offending page that has a link to that url. I took a look at my templates and content with the pages and can't seem to find anything that would create it.

    Hi, I just received an email alert from Seomoz telling me my "Weekly Keyword Ranking & On-page Optimization Report " for the period 11/06/12 - 11/13/12 is ready. It is just a copy of the previous report though, all rankings and ranking changes are the same. What is up with that? Best regards, Martin

    Hi guys, we've been addressing a duplicate content problem on our site over the past few weeks. Lately, we've implemented rel canonical tags in various parts of our ecommerce store, over time, and observing the effects by both tracking changes in SEOMoz and Websmater tools. Although our duplicate content errors are definitely decreasing, I can't help but wonder why some URLs are still being flagged with duplicate content by our SEOmoz crawler. Here's an example, taken directly from our Crawl Diagnostics Report: URL with 4 Duplicate Content errors:
    /safety-lights.html Duplicate content URLs:
    /safety-lights.html ?cat=78&price=-100
    /safety-lights.html?cat=78&dir=desc&order=position /safety-lights.html?cat=78 /safety-lights.html?manufacturer=514 What I don't understand, is all of the URLS with URL parameters have a rel canonical tag pointing to the 'real' URL
    /safety-lights.html So why is SEOMoz crawler still flagging this as duplicate content?

    Howdy Everyone! Since i've seen the MozCon presentation by Richard Baxter at SEOGadget, i've been completely amazed by the links extension for Excel. I tried this morning to give it a try. Unfortunately, I cannot get it working, and was hoping that someone here could help me out. I know it's out of the usual "realm" of questions, but I figure it's worth a try 🙂 I successfully installed the addon and entered my Access id (as "member-xxxxxxxxxx" member is in my id) and the secret key. I then downloaded the "OSE" excel spreadsheet" just to make sure I get all the calls right (as I know the doc works) Once I do this, and enter anything in, I get the "an error occured: the remote server returend an error: 401 unauthorized. I then went into the config file (as the setup doc suggests) and disabled run time caching (or at least set "SEOMOZ_API_use_cache_YN":"N") and the SEOMOZ_API_timeout to 100000 from 60000. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the addin, along with regenerating the MozScape API Key Anyway, i'm not an excel wiz, and would appreciate any help that I could get on this. I'm also about to experiment with SEO Tools For Excel if anywone wants to check that out. Thanks in advance Zach Russell

    Hi, I am getting a "duplicate title" error for all the sites I make and I am not sure why - it's only for my homepage. www.carolynnescottages.com.au is one for example. It picks up the url www.carolynnescottages.com.au and also www.carolynnescottages.com.au/index  The index page is the homepage. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also is there some tutorials where I can learn how to use each of the tools in seomoz properly?  videos? Thanks again. Tammy

SEOMOZ RankTracker - #49 SEOCentro  - #36 http://www.seocentro.com/tools/search-engines/keyword-position.html ZendProxy.com -  #21 (an anonymizer proxy) anonymouse.org - no rank (another anonymizer) Mikes Marketing Tools - no rank http://www.mikes-marketing-tools.com/ranking-reports/ RankingCheck.com  - #38 Can you duplicate a similar variation?     Hey, One of our websites is www.inspireeducation.net.au.  I have noticed although tools like Raventools capture our links well, Open Site Explorer is doing a terrible job... For example the following page >>> http://www.inspireeducation.net.au/courses/training-and-assessment-courses/certificate-iv-in-training-and-assessment/ has many many more than 8 root domains linking, however Open Site Explorer only presents 8? We are finding the same problem for almost any page we review through Open Site.  Does anyone have any idea why the numbers would be so out?  The new links are NOT fresh links.  Many are well-established (been there for years), and even many newer ones have been there for more that 60 days. I find the same thing when reviewing competitor sites..  is Open Site Explorer working properly at all at the moment?

    Crawl Diagnostics Summary shows around 15,000 duplicate content errors for one of my projects, It shows the list of pages with how many duplicate pages are there for each page. But i dont have a way of seeing what are the duplicate page URLs for a specific page without clicking on each page link and checking them manually which is gonna take forever to sort. When i export the list as CSV,  duplicate_page_content column doest show any data. Can anyone please advice on this please. Thanks <colgroup><col width="1096"></colgroup>

    Rogerbot just completed its first crawl and is reporting all kinds of duplicate content - both page content and meta title/description. The pages it is calling duplicate are used with  rel="alternate" hreflang="x", but are still being labeled as dupes. The title and descriptions are usually exactly the same, so I am working on getting at least those translated into different languages. I think its getting tripped up because the product page its crawling are only in English, but the chrome of the site is in the translated languages. The URLs look like so: Original: site.com/product Detected duplicates: site.com/fr/product, site.com/de/product, site.com/zh-hans/product

    Hate asking such a vague question, but my SEOMoz link analysis report is not showing any backlinks for a client of mine. I loaded the information the same way I did my other clients, which show all links. www.domain.com is being forwarded properly to domain.com. I know there are backlinks because I put many of them there myself over the last couple of months. Clearly this is affecting my Moz score. Not sure how to troubleshoot this.     So I've been in the habit of creating a master list of keywords concatenated with the city name so I can track my local rankings versus competitors. 1. Is this the correct thing to do to help hone in on who competitive my sites are ranking in the local market? 2. If so, by doing this the On Page reports seem to be totally screwed, because the searches I'm tracking  (with city) vs the keywords I want to analyse for on-page ranking (without city), are different. What is the solution?

    It would be great if you could add annotations to the ranking graph so you could easily see when you had added site updates and the effect they had. I would also be grateful for a key on the graph so you didn't have to hover over the lines to see what's what.

    I have noticed huge discrepancies with the external link metrics of one of the websites that I have been tracking since the launch of the website. Shortly after launch I captured a screenshot of the external link metrics to the website to track the progress.  As I look at the same Open Site Explorer metrics now (2 months later) it has increased by 900% which is very inconsistent with the amount of link building done for the client.     Hi Mozers, I've just finished watching the Crawl Diagnostics Webinar and when I try to export one of my campaign into the CSV format, I've a display problem into Microsoft Excell. Every headtitles are into the "A" column so, I can't do anything with that : I can't organize the data,... It's totally unreadable. What can I do? Thank you for yours answers. Jonathan
