    When I run the On-Page Analysis on our homepage, the report says the page has 238 **"Internal followed links". ** Why are not nofollowed internal links counted as well? Nofollowed links have been leaking link juice for quite some time now. Martin

    Hello all, What do you think about using Keyword Difficulty divided by Search Volume as an alternative to keyword efficiency indexes? ETA: Obviously this wouldn't be a hard and fast metric, but a general indicator to be taken into account along with other data.

    I'm looking for a way to see the right rankings with geographic bias in mind.  As an example, is there a way to indicate to SEOMoz to pull Google Rankings for San Francisco.  The most narrow I can get is by country which won't work for several clients. I know Linkdex does this but would love to know if SEOMoz has a similar capability?  If not, does anyone know of another company besides Linkdex?

    SeoMoz is reporting a number of weird client errors. The 404 links all look like the following: http://www.bluelinkerp.com/http%3A/www.bluelinkerp.com/corporate/cases/Nella.asp What might be causing these weird links to be picked up? I couldn't find any way within the SEOmoz interface to track down the source of these links . . .

    Before joining SEOMoz I used to calculate Keyword difficulty with my own method based on keyword density, presence of synonyms, Page rank, title and URL. This seemed to rather well work and I reach 1st page on a fairly regumar basis by picking good difficulty / interest ratio keywords and only onsite optimization. (No link building) I just looked @Keyword analysis in SEOMoz. It seems it is only based on page / site autority. Is this correct? Do you believe keyword and synonym density is irrelevent? Do I need to set back to my home recipe if I want to include keyword analysis in my difficulty assessment ? Thx

    one of my sites got hit with the exact match domain algo change in google.  I was wondering if it would be trouble or beneficial to add about 10 directory links in the the highest page rank directories in the seomoz directory list.  It looks like i only have about 17 root domains linking to my site so far that are natural links and not directory links.  i have no directory links as of yet.  Will this help or does it spell trouble getting this many directory links in a few months?     Dear Seomoz Community I check my Seomoz ranking from time to and today I saw a big discrepancy between the reported domains linking to my site in the Site Explorer and Google Webmaster tools. Seomoz reports 19 linking domains
    Google shows 150 domains linking to my site. Is there an explanation for this discrepancy? Thank for helping me out 😉

    Hi When I use the on-page research tool seomoz tells me I have an issue with the rel canconical tag pointing to the wrong url, but I have it set so that on this particular page it points to itself (as per recommendation from seomoz) full url is http://www.growingyourownveg.com/how-to-grow/garlic.html in head section i have <base href="http://www.growingyourownveg.com/"> Have I got this wrong? Google and Bing appear to accept it OK Thanks

    I was looking for a way to subscribe to the SEOmoz Q&A posts so I could keep an eye on any new questions that I felt I could provide adequate answers to, but apparently there is no RSS feed available. So I made my own Twitter account to automatically post the new questions and felt like sharing it here in case anyone else would be interested in following - http://twitter.com/SEOQA. Additional info - 1. It only updates once an hour since I didn't want to constantly hammer the SEOmoz servers every minute checking for new questions. Which means the Twitter account will post how ever many questions there are once every hour, so sometimes it can get a little annoying seeing your feed bombarded with 6 tweets in a row from the same account. 2. Some question titles contain more characters than Twitter allows in addition to the URL, so some of them get cut off. Not sure how to fix that but it rarely happens so I don't tend to mind it. 3. It simply posts any new questions asked in any category since I'm not sure of a way to choose a certain category. It would be awesome if SEOmoz provided RSS feeds/Twitter accounts to follow for a particular category. 😉 4. I'm not affiliated with SEOmoz (other than being a PRO member) and I'm not making any money off this so I hope it's okay that I set this up! Let me know if anybody has any comments or questions or suggestions for how to make it better.

    This is more of a discussion point. What would be the measurable results of reducing the number of on page links, specifically on a home page, but let's assume by way of a large navigation menu most of the pages have a lot of links" For instance, would any of the stats on the MozBar be affected (let's start with the home page). Would the Page Authority or MozRank change at all, perhaps because there is less "juice" flowing out of the home page? Thanks! 🙂

    Hello everyone! Edge of all, I like and I use very often the "Keyword analysis" tool . However, recently, I have some difficulty to rely on the difficulty % of the keywords I've added. As an example I entered as keywords for a french speaking client, words with a geographical reference. It gives me a percentage too high because I am almost convinced that it would probably not be difficult to work with. My question is: is there any known errors with keywords georeferenced French (google canada - english) and also what to trust when I want proof of the difficulty of a keyword in case of some errors may occur in the tool.

    Hello, I got an SEOmoz Report for one of our clients and the report is showing these pages and many more others as duplicate page content. Thing is the page content is not duplicate however there is very little data differentiating the contents.     My website (doctor directory) is getting a lot of duplicate page content & duplicate page title warnings from SEOmoz. The pages that are getting the warnings are doctors profiles which can be accessed at three different URLs. Problem is this should be handled by the canonical tag on the pages.     I have a client www.woodard247.com that shows only a bit over 100 inbound links. using the Open Site Explorer, they are a well trafficed local site and are not doing any grey hat or black hat techniques.  However the rankings for their main keywords have suffered recently and we cannot identify any duplicate content or keyword stuffing issues.  We have never purchased links or used link building software.  Now for the main question: When we run Open Site Explorer it shows only a bit over 100 inbound links on the page and the domain, but the subdomain shows over 66,000 total links!  How can this be possible?  Could this be a problem?  How can I find out what these links are since Open Site Explorer and Seo Spyglass both show only a hundred or so?

    The crawl diagnostic has found errors for pages that do not exist within the site. These pages do not appear in the SERPs and are seemingly dynamic URL pages. Most of the URLs that appear are formatted http://mysite.com/keyword,%20_keyword_,%20key_word_/ which appear as dynamic URLs for potential search phrases within the site. The other popular variety among these pages have a URL format of http://mysite.com/tag/keyword/filename.xml?sort=filter which are only generated by a filter utility on the site. These pages comprise about 90% of 401 errors, duplicate page content/title, overly-dynamic URL, missing meta decription tag, etc. Many of the same pages appear for multiple errors/warnings/notices categories. So, why are these pages being received into the crawl test? and how to I stop it to gauge for a better analysis of my site via SEOmoz?

    Hi SEOMozers, I am trying to check a record of links to one of the websites I help look after.  One problem with the site is the home page automatically redirects to /home which seems to make OSE give some weird results. I can give out the domain if need be but I would rather not if I can help it 😉 To sum up what's happening when you put the domain into OSE with the /home then I get the social figures but the link number is right out saying the site has 200 links. Typing in the domain without the /home brings up no social figures and 15k links which looks more correct.  Also OSE has the notification about the redirect and if I'd like to go to the /home version. The weird thing is however is if I change the filter to 'Pages on this root domain' which should show all links pointing to the website, the figures don't change...? Has anyone experienced this? Any solutions? Or is it a known bug? Cheers for any help in advance!

    Hi, I must warm you that I am lame as hell in this SEO buisness. I just kinda made (not finished yet) my first wordpress site for a female art therapist friend of mine based in Barcelona, Spain who wants to have an internet presence and get some consulting clients. I made a little research through adwords keyword tool and found out  "arteterapia barcelona" (medium competence, 390 local searches) is a reasonable niche with medium competence (0,62) but the other keywords are just for people trying to know what art therapy is or try to become art therapist themselves (cursos -courses-, master, etc). Then there is "arte terapia barcelona" which gives roughly the same results (high competence -0,72-, 390 local searches). She is not ready yet to offer courses and anyway I thought I would focus on organic positioning her with keywords "arteterapia barcelona" and maybe "arte terapia barcelona" but do a multilngual website as it is an added asset for customers. My guess is people who look for an arttherapist in Barcelona use these keywords: either "arteterapia barcelona" or "arte terapia barcelona" (in english "arttherapy barcelona") as "arteterapeuta barcelona" (in english, "art therapist barecelona") gives NO RESULTS whatsoever ¿??¿? So I (maybe a mistake to start with) got some free webspace from 000webhost.com and the free domain arteterapia.hostoi.com , installed wordpress and built a website from scratch with a variation of twenty eleven wordpress theme. When I realized arteterapia.cat was still available I kinda panicked and bought it right away (maybe a mistake). But as I want to organically position arteterapia AND barcelona  I bought arteterapiabarcelona.es and .net (com is not available). The thing is, I don't know which one to use or them all. Frankly, I don't know where to start. Should I try to position each page separately? Or just alternate using "arte terapia" and "arteterapia" throughout the site? Should my priority now be to choose one of these (probably arteterapiabarcelona.es) and try to get some backlinks or use them all? Are.cat domains as powerful for people doing searches in catalonia region as .es for people doing searches in spain? Should she use Adsense? Any good tutorial on how to calculate the cost of that¿ Sorry again for the probably lame questions. And thanks. I do appreciate your help A LOT. Miguel

    Dear all, Every week I look at the different crawl reports for our website, since the start of my SeoMoz membership the Errors for duplicated content and duplicated Title is rising. But if I take out the .csv file and look in more detail, and select a pages which is marked as duplicated content, a canonical is actually existing on this page. So it shouldn't be an warning, I have no idea what the issue could be. For example pagesare marked as duplicated content, <colgroup><col width="966"></colgroup>

    Good Morning... Every week i get an email from SEO Moz that is showing me where the keywords i am tracking are currently in the SERPS (New Rankings and On-Page Reports)... Is there a reason that the current rank shown on these emails would be so different than what is shown when i use SEO Moz's rank tracker? For example, it shows one keyword has a rank of 48 (via email) and a rank of 16 through the rank tracker. What would cause such a great discrepancy? Thanks

    I am looking to learn SEO as I know how important it is. I have basic understandings, but I don't know where to start, or what to add. my website is viralextent.com and apparently I'm not so good at ranking. I want to rank locally for "web design".     I run a wordpress based website that contains a large amount of free content, but also a large amount of content that is only accessed via a paid membership. After running a SEOmoz campaign for the site, it showed 3600 errors for duplicate page titles and 1900 errors for duplicate page content. After looking into the errors it became clear that the majority of them were due to the fact that if you clicked on a link to paid content, it would take you to the paid membership sign in page. So how to I go about fixing these errors? I don't want this to hurt my rankings. Or fix it if it already has.

    I could not find a way to look at past data dynamically via the SEOmoz interface which would be an amazing feature.     How are we supposed to send ranking reports to clients if the rankings are constantly reporting false metrics This is not the first time this has happened, but the rankings are WAAAAAAY off. What is the point of reporting rankings that are not accurate? What is the possible cause of this. Is there a solution? What is SEOmoz doing to improve their ranking programs.     Hello Fellow SEOs, I've been charged with managing and tracking my company's linkbuilding efforts. I'd love to hear from others experienced in this area: -is there a way in OSE to sort links by date? -if this isn't possible, how can you tell what new links come in every month? Is this a manual process of downloading and comparing inbound links every week? This seems pretty tedious and I would love to hear what you all do and if there is a better way. I do have a Google Alert out for my company name, but that doesn't necessarily give me what I need. Thank you!

    I submitted a question on September 30 and never received a response. I then followed up on October 6 and had an exchange with the support staff, who first told me that the question would be answered and then a couple of days later told me that they had no record of the question. By chance, I had taken a screen shot showing confirmation that the question had been sent (just something I did to remind myself to follow up if I didn't get a response!), which I sent to them along with the question again. That was four days ago, and I've heard nothing since then - not even an automated email saying that the question was received. Is it common for it to take almost a month before a response is received, and to have to follow up multiple times just to get an answer?

    we have recently installed an application firewall that is blocking rogerbot from crawling our site. Our IT department has asked for an IP address or range of IP addresses to add to the acceptable crawlers. If rogerbot has a dynamic IP address how to we get him added to our whitelist? The product IT is using is from F5 called Application Security Manager.
