    Just wanted to see how people using the seomoz bar would rate a four month old site with Domain-Homepage Authority of 27 Mozrank of 5.08 and Moztrust of 5.65 . I've read up on all the factors but just wanted to know if Im up to par on building a great site thats search engine friendly.  Inner pagers are on a PA of 20 and around the same mozrank and moztrust levels of +- 5.

    Hi all. I'm trying to create a report to list all of my site's duplicate content that SEOmoz says we have. However when I click on the link it just shows me the title and description of the page. I don't know what the other page is that has duplicate content or what the duplicate content is. Where do I find this information? Thanks in advance!

    Got a weird one here... Won't give away actual URL but for this example let's say client's site is: www.purplebananas.com Many of the longtail keyword-targeted subpages/posts are still ranking pretty well.  We recently went through and optimized the site based on poor scores we found from crawl reports from SEO Moz, which included renaming some sub-pages, eliminating duplicate content pages, archives, etc (it's a wordpress site, about 4 years old). This site used to rank at the top or near it for the search "purple bananas". However, after we optimized the site it's almost completely fallen off the radar of Google, turns up way over 100 for the search "purple bananas". Strangely, if we search "purplebananas" we're at the top still. Any idea what's going on here? Are we potentially over-optimized or something weird for our own brand!? Any troubleshooting tips? FWIW the changes were made about 6 weeks ago and while we're steadily building links, I don't think this is the standard "Google dance". Thanks!

    My site shows up on page one for many search queries, but I'm "not in the top 50" for those same terms according to the rankings report. Having troubleshooted the problem, it may be a canonical issue. I did not include www when I originally set up my reports and it seems that my site shows up in search results with www. However; if you type in the url without the www, it will automatically forward to the page with www. I did this intentionally in order not to get penalized for duplicate content pages. So here's my question: If I've got one page redirected to the other, shouldn't the rankings report also follow that redirect? If so, then it should show the correct results, right? Thanks, Dino

    I have a client's new site set up in a folder that is not linked to from the main site. When setting up the Crawl Report, I put in the starting url for the new folder, http://oldsite.com/new/start.php. The Crawl Report came back with a crawl of the current site instead. How do folks run the crawl report to test sites before they are public? Thanks!

    Hiz, if i click on the mozbar button in chrome it shows me in red that this page contains multiple meta description tags. please see screenshot attached. while if i vew source of my pages it only contains 1 meta description. can anyone check and verify please. cheers VIwZS.png

    Hi, I have been downloading fiels from seoMOZ for quite a while and I keep getting broken CSV files. ON my Mac, I wrote a script that cleaned them out but I cannot (don't know how) do this on the Windows side. The problem is that some of the record lines get broken up mainly in the "Anchor Text" field (maybe the anchor text in question contained a return). This of course messes up my file when I open it in Excel. Is there a way get/open these files without having them messed up like this? P..S. I am also seeing problem with text encoding, I would like to see the anchor text that is being diaplayed on the referring site rather than its HTML/Unicode/UTF-8 code value. TIA, Michel

    I am working for a cosmetic surgeon with clinics in three geographic places. I would like to give him specific keywords that he can go after successfully. When I use the keyword tool with terms like botox cosmetic staten island or breast augmentation tarrytown, I get competitive rankings like 36% or 37%, but it doesnt tell me if there are only a few searchers doing this per month. In Google's Adwords tool, it thinks that the number fo searchers with these same terms is too small to measure, literally giving me back a dash (= insignificant traffic). However, it I use Google Adwords with more general terms, say breast augmentation surgeon, and get a medium/110 global monthly searches, when I come back to SEOmoz tool and assess the same keyword, I find that the traffic picks up doctor sites in Arizona and elsewhere, where clearly no one who wants cosmetic surgery in new York is going to fly to Arizona for it. So, how do I ensure a balance between targeting too little traffic but including the names of specific towns, and targetting more general terms but not having local prospects. Has anyone tackled this in a specific medical niche?

    Hi, I have been kind of stuck with guest blogging lately. The amount of times I have seen PR1/2 root domains but SEOMOZ tool bar says DA:35/40 mR:4+ mT:4+ I know you are supposed to look at the content itself and other aspects but what do you trust more SEOMOZ tool bar or Googles PR? Cheers

    Google's terms don't allow automated queries without Google's permission. https://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66357 How does SEOMoz get ranking data then? Is it sending automated queries with or without Google's permission? is it violating Google's guideline? Will it affect my site performance as far as rankings?

    Hi I am new to SEOmoz and in the crawl diagnostics for one of my clients it came back duplicate content on the homepage www.myclient.co.uk and on the www.myclient.co.uk/index.php which is obviously the same page. I understand that the key is to do a 301 redirect from the index to /, however how will I know that this will not just create an ever ending loop on the server? From your experience how is the best way to tackle this crawl error? Also is there a specific question that I need to ask the server?

    Running some keyword difficulty reports that are showing some interesting data around URL Anchor Text Metrics. But ti fully understand them, I need some definitions, which I cannot find anyone. So can someone point me to definitions of these terms: Exact Anchor Text Links % Links w/ Exact Anchor Text Linking Root Domains w/ Exact Anchor Text % Linking Root Domains w/ Exact Anchor Text Partial Anchor Text Links % Links w/ Partial Anchor Text Partial Anchor Text Root Doms. % Linking Root Domains w/ Partial Anchor Text Also, if say Exact Anchor Text Links is bolded purple, that means that URL has more Exact Anchor Text Links than any other URL in the report.     According to SEOmoz, several of my campaigns show that I have duplicate pages (SEOmoz Errors).  Upon reading more about how to resolve the issue, I followed SEOmoz's suggestion to add rel='canonical' <links>to each page.  After the next SEOmoz crawl, the number of SEOmoz Errors related to duplicate pages remained the same and the number of SEOmoz notices shot up indicating that it recognized that I added rel='canonical'.</links> I'm still puzzled as to why the SEOmoz errors did not go down with respect to duplicate page errors after I added rel='canonical', especially since SEOmoz noticed that I added them.  Can anyone explain this to me?     Well, basically that's the question 😄 Can I prevent some pages from being crawled from SEOMoz spider and still not affect Google Spider? This is, I have more than 10.000 pages on the website, and I am not interested in having reports for many of them, but I still wanna get SEO visits on them, so I want Google to crawl it easily...     I logged in today and my rankings are normally crawled on Thurs, and of my 66 keywords only 6 of them are showing any data - the rest are all blank. It's been going for weeks so it's not like it doesn't have it's initial data yet. I presume this is some issue or artifact that the results haven't been input yet. Can someone help answer this?

    A few weeks ago Raventools announced that they would no longer be able to provide tools based on the adwords API, then withdrew that.  Rand commented on a thread here discussing that and made similar noises. Today Raventools made an announcement as SERP tracking with wording that sounded a lot like it had more than a little influence from Google. Would I be really paranoid to be wondering whether the Rankings tools in seomoz could be at risk?

    I noticed that there is a big difference between the mozpoints showing in my account and the mozpoint showing in the Q&A section of the website. My Account shows me that I now have: 262 Mozpoints. When i look at my Q&A total is says: 303 mozpoints. There is a big hole between the two. How is this possible and which of the 2 numbers is correct?

    Hi, I'm trying to start a new campaign for a root domain, but I'm getting the "Roger found an error" and am not sure what to make of it. Error #1: "You've decided to set up a root domain campaign, but entered the subdomain path: www.siteurl.com. Don't worry, we'll switch that for you and crawl everything on the subdomain: www.siteurl.com. If you meant to set this up to only crawl pages in the root domain, click 'Go back and Change" and enter a root domain URL in step 1." Error #2: "Oops! The root domain siteurl.com redirects to a domain that is not within the specified root domain (www.siteurl.com). This will cause us to stop crawling as the first discovered page falls outside of the root domain you've defined. Please make sure you enter a root domain that resolves to a page that is under the root domain." What does this mean? Is there something I am doing wrong? The first error is what returned when I input www.siteurl.com. The second was returned when I put just siteurl.com. I didn't put up the exact URL for privacy reasons, but if you really do want to help me out, PM me and I can give you the real URL. Thanks in advance!

    I've been using moz for nearly a year now. Initially when I set up our site (rac.com.au) it was as a single campaign for the rac.com.au domain. However, our business has a number of different product offerings and marketing teams (Insurance, finance, travel/tourism, automotive, security etc) - would I be better off setting each of these 'sub' brands as a campaign on their own using the 'folder' campaign setup? For example, have a campaign setup for the Insurance business (rac.com.au/insurance) folder, Finance business (rac.com.au/finance) and so forth? The advantage I see to the folder campaign setup is more specific reporting for each of the business units. Are there disadvantages to this? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.     Open Site Explorer always reports only a few facebook likes. If I go to the business page of the site, it has 100+ likes. This seems to happen a lot. Is this a OSE issue or is there an issue with the site clearly being defined to google as a connected facebook account? If OSE doesn't see the likes, will google? How can I fix?

    Okay, I've been using the trial version of SEOmoz for almost a week, but, I'm just not sure what to do with it to be honest. I'm not an SEO expert, so, a lot of the terminology and reports are confusing. So far the only thing I've found useful are the domain and page duplication errors, but, I can get the same info from Google Webmaster Tools. Am I missing something? We have a very simple site for a small business, not sure I can justify $99 per month for a service I don't really understand. Is this service more for SEO professionals than business owners? -Tom

    We have a pretty tight robots.txt file in place to only allow the major search engines.  I do not want to block SEOMOZ.ORG from being able to crawl the site so I want to make sure the user agent is open.

    I get different external followed links showing in the Competitive Link Comparison vs. Open Site Explorer. The total number of links is different as well. I thought this was the same info - just one tracks ongoing and one is just a "one-off" tool. Is this not the case? Do the count links differently? Thanks! Kevin

    For years, our company placed 3 or 4 in an organic search on Google for the keyword I am inquiring about. A couple of months ago, we went down to number 15. I then subscribed to SEOMOZ and began a concerted effort to improve our ranking for this keyword. Slowly, our listing came up higher in searches and on our reports- back onto the first page #8. Our weekly SEOMOZ reports reflected this improvement, but then it dropped down again to page 2, #11. My most recent report, this week, gave us a PR 8 for this keyword, but our listing is showing upon page 2, #11. I do have my personal search and browser history disabled. I am unclear as to why there is this discrepancy.

    I've done quite a bit of searching, but can't seem to find a time efficient way to accurately analyze keyword difficulty for large sets of keywords. All of the keyword difficulty tools out there that I've tried are either 1) not accurate 2) slow (like seomoz's kw difficulty tool only allows 5 entries at a time). Can anyone recommend any shortcuts / tools / processes to analyze kw difficulty for large sets of keywords?

    I am getting a duplicate content error for the following pages: http://www.bluelinkerp.com/products/accounting/index.asp http://www.bluelinkerp.com/products/accounting/ But, of course, the 2nd link is just an automatic redirect to the index file, is it not?     Hi, I have a question about the proper way to set up a new SEOmoz campaign for a simple 5-page website (home, about, services, blog, contact). If I'm tracking only www.domain.com, does it make a difference if I set it up to track just that subdomain or should I track it at the root domain? Is it better to use the root domain? Are there pros or cons to using one over the other? If the website is expanded in the future, any future pages will most likely be on the same subdomain (e.g., www.domain.com/page).     Hi, I noticed that rogerbot still give me 404 for http://www.salustore.com/capelli/nanogen-acquamatch.html refferal form http://www.salustore.com/protocollo-nanogen even I made changes since a couple of week. Same error with one "Title Element Too Short" on our site. Any suggestion on how to refresh it? Best Regards n.

    hi all, we've done a bit of SEO over the years for our site, and are looking to pick things up this year and spend more time on SEO.  first off, we are working on revising our keyword list & would like to view what keywords specific competitors are ranking for and try to target those keywords as well.  is this possible via SEOmoz (similar to spyfu)? please let me know if you feel this is a good first step in picking up our SEO efforts for the new year. i've been looking at the research tools & is seems the Keyword Difficulty Tool hasn't been fully functional for the past week or so ("Our Keyword Difficulty Tool is having issues displaying AdWords API data. We are working with the AdWords API folks to get a fix soon!"). also, i noticed i can enter competitor sites in open site explorer & compare link metrics, but i don't see anywhere to compare keyword metrics.  is there something i'm missing? thanks again everyone!

    I want to create a report of only de duplicate content pages as a csv file so i can create a script to canonicalize them. So i get something like: http://example.com/page1, http://example.com/page2, http://example.com/page3, http://example.com/page4, Because I now have to open each in "Issue: Duplicate Page Content", and this takes a lot of time. The same for duplicate page title.

    Setup campaign about 4-5 days ago and yesterday rogerbot said 308 pages were crawled and the diagnostics were provided. This website has over 1000+ pages and would like to know how long it would take for roger to crawl the entire website and provide diagnostics. Thanks!
