I have created 2 blogs for a client as they have 2 domains (1 for their core business, and 1 for a product). I want to use the same content on both blogs. What is the best way to set this up so there are no ranking or duplicate content issues?
-
We are pushing SEO for only one of the domains, therefore I would like one to be dominant. We will be sending the blog post via email to their database, therefore each blog needs to have the same content.
Thank you!

I would add the canonical to both, pointing at the preferred blog in both cases. (i.e. the preferred blog canonicals to itself.)

You can try the following (please see how www.lifehacker.com create their articles)
- Write an article on the main blog
- Write a smaller text on your secondary blog expressing "your" point of view on the article from the main blog
- Give give credit (link to the main blog article)
This way, you end up with 2 unique articles (one on the main blog which will be the full article (500-1500 words depending on how much you have to say) and one on the secondary blog (250-500 words - depending how inspired you are).
If you purchase articles, simply ask for articles of 1500-200 words, containing opposite points of view (pro and cons of the subject), split them and post them on the 2 blogs

What wouldent you say, sorry.
A canonical will null and viod one of blogs, and give creadt to the other, thats how they work,. you can not use them to make both rank.
You also need to add the canonical to the site, you do not want to rank, not the one you want to rank. You need to point it to the one you want to rank from the non ranking one.
The search engine is going to see it as duplicate content, no matter, all you can do is make the cjhoice for the SE, or it will pick one itself.
"It’s important to understand that a rel=canonical is not a true redirect. There
has been a lot written that it’s “basically like a 301 redirect”, which can be
misleading. The purpose of the rel=canonical is to help the engines understand
when an individual URL is essentially a duplicate of another. The rel=canonical
element does suggest to the engine that any value assigned to the duplicate URL
be assigned to the original URL, though. This is similar to how the 301
functions, which is the origin of the over-simplification noted above."Duane Forrest from Bing

I wouldn't say so I work with heaps of businesses who have various sites you can set up different strategies for both blog's, you can even aim for a total serp domination of specific keywords.
-
Don't bother making 2 blogs, as only one is going to rank. A canonical will teell the SE what version tio rank, but it will not make both rank.
-
if you generate the same piece of content for both websites without canonical, so you will be running a risk of duplicate content.
-
If you can not make unique content on both sites then add canonical tags to the main website you wish to rank higher.
I would advise to make unique content on both websites if possible.

Community Discussion: Can 10x content be short-form content?
In his (intentionally very short) post on Tuesday, Rand makes the case that long-form content isn't necessarily great content: "Rather than applying a tactic like long-form content universally or setting length as the bar (or even a metric) for greatness, we instead match our content to our audience's needs and our business/personal goals. 700 more words will not help you reach your goals any more than 7 more words. Create content that helps people. Do it efficiently. Never write an ultimate guide where a single image could more powerfully convey the same value. Trust me; your audience and your bottom line will thank you." I think this is something we all struggle with as online marketers, in one way or another. As someone who casually consumes online content on a regular basis, this also resonates with me on a personal level. I'm curious, what are your hesitations with focusing on shorter-form content that packs a wallop, and what excites you about it? Can you think of any examples of content you've come across that you consider 10x short-form content?

Wordpress Blog Pages, Duplicate Title Tag
Anyone have any experience in fixing the duplicate Title tag on a Wordpress blog multiple pages Basically the title tag remains the same on the pages /Blog/ /Blog/Page/2/ /Blog/Page/3/ My good friend Yoast Plugin doesn't seem to of resolved this (Unless i have missed something?) I don't really see this to be effecting anything and wouldn't of through it would either, but it would be nice to not see the notification within Moz site crawls and campaigns etc, its more of a cosmetic problem Any solutions ? Thanks James

Where can I install a blog (not on the domain I'm optimising) which will help my search rankings?
I've got my hands tied, and I cannot install a blog like Wordpress on the domain I'm optimising. My question is, where then, would the next best place be? I've heard stories about subdomains being completely useless for affecting SEO of the root domain, and so anything external would probably have the same effect, correct? Would love to hear what some of you do in these situations. Cheers!

SEO for a Deal Blog
Hi, I have a deal blog that is several months old. My established and successful "competitors" have a high Domain Authority (43, 46, 63) but most of their blog posts are very short. Our readers want to know about the coupon, deal, discount, code etc - they don't want 250 + words for each post. However I am concerned that lots of short posts will label my blog as low quality and that Google Panda will get me. My competitors easily get on page 1 of google. Yes they also write articles but majority of their posts are short. I deindexed quite a few short blog posts but my audience googles for coupons and deals like crazy. I try to give as much info as I can without being wordy and annoying but sometimes that still gets me only 100 words. I also write a lot of articles relevant to my niche (mom/baby/maternity) that are high quality and several hundred words. Just looking for input on deal blog SEO. Thanks!

Can I share share my content with other sites either as a individual post or RSS or will I be encourage duplicate content on the web and upset Google
Hi, I have a new site http://www.homeforbusiness.co.uk. I want to encourage traffic to the site by sharing some of my content with other related websites which have a higher PR ranking and traffic for a link to my site. Is this going to upset Google re-duplicate content and devalue my site and stop any organic rankings in the future? Equally some high PR sites which have a good synergy with mine such as http://thewomensbusinessclubs.com/ allow me to add my RSS feed with their blog network. Is this a good thing to do or not for the same reasons as above? Or can I only do the above my creating fresh content? Thanks, Elizabeth Conley

Please help me decide the benefit (from an SEO perspective) of hosting a company blog externally (either on blogger or self-setup external domain) or hosting on company's website.
