Broad Match and Exact Match
-
Using the keyword tool Ive noticed theres Exact match and Broad Match , Exact match is always way less . Is exact match only when a person puts the keyword in quotes? or is that the number of times when a person puts in the exact keyword. ? I see that google adwords only puts the broadmatch.
-
Correct but keep in mind that seo does effect longtail words you arent going after as well.
-
thats what I thought but then if I target a keyword for SEO , my site will be only ranked for the exact match and not for the broad ?

If you are doing keyword research per specific keywords and phrases... use exact match. This is the exact number of searches for exactly what you type in. I only use broad match when doing research on a general industry to get an idea about search volumes. If you want to do it right, use exact match, and type in all of the variations (plural (s), non-plural) etc. Log out of Google AdWords, and go here and do your keyword research: https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeting/Explorer?__u=1000000000&__c=1000000000&ideaRequestType=KEYWORD_IDEAS#search.none
Best of luck!

Ressler Motors is correct
****4 keyword types exist in adwords - broad, broad modified, phrase and exact
-Exact is when you only show your ads to people who type in the exact words
-phrase is when you show your ad to any search term that has the keyword phrase in it - even if extra words are before or after the keyword
Broad , phrase and exact can be seen in the tool on the left side after you do a search.
-
It's when someone searches for that exact phrase. You can change your Google Adwords to exact on the left side of the page.
Exact = Blue Widgets
Broad = My Blue Widgets are Crazy Awesome

Exact Long Tail Keyword Wording?
Hi everyone! I'm currently doing long tail keyword research and I'm coming across keywords such as deer wall print for nursery for the main keyword "deer wall print" which doesn't really incorporate too well into a into a grammatically correct paragraph. Can I use something like **deer wall print for your nursery **or deer wall print is perfect for in a nursery? Does it have to be exact reproduction if I am trying to rank for a long tail keyword term/phrase?

What do broad match keywords represent?
Exact match is perfectly easy for me to get my head around - broad match, not so much! Take the phrase, "removing blueberry stains." Is the broad match data for this that I'm seeing in the Google keyword tool for searches that involve any of these particular words, in any phrase, in any order - just so long as they're all there? Any help with this concept would be much appreciated.

Google keyword tool [exact match]
Hey there, I'm trying to work out what my next big course to run will be. I want to know if my technique is a good gauge of popularity. I'm using Google's keyword tool specifically for New Zealand. I'm typing in a course topic e.g Photoshop Courses and looking at the exact match results to see if there might be a market for that course. Broad match seems to offer up a lot more numbers but seem a bit vague. Am i right to think 'After Effects Training' wouldn't be a popular course as it returns a (<10) local monthly result while 'Photoshop Courses' might be ok as it has a (46)? **I'd appreciate any insight. ** Dan

Broad match Vs Exact match
This may sound a little basic, but i'm going to ask anyway. On Googles keyword tool Ive always used broad match, knowing that they are never 100% accurate, and obviously inflated by other SEO's searching for their keywords, but used it all the same to get an idea of global monthly searches and potential targeted traffic. I have seen recently, on SEOmoz, and a post fromJill Whalen not long back, that unless you change the match to "Exact" your data is useless? Could somebody explain why this is the case? My initial thoughts were, a search for SEO on broad shows 6,120,000 per month Yet a search for the same keyword in exact match shows 673,000 per month. I had presumed that the broad match would include "learn SEO" "What is SEO" etc etc, where as 673,000 just search exactly for SEO. Is this correct? 3 points go to Richard Q&A answering animal dude Getz if he gets this first! Thanks in advance
