How do you use local keywords naturally in a sentence?
-
Some local SEO key phrases are difficult to use naturally in a sentence - consider "dry cleaners Birmingam". Do you have any ideas about how to use this type of phrase in a natutral-sounding way when writing content?
-
One thing that I've discovered is that you can use punctuation in the middle of a keyword phrase. So, for example, if you were trying to rank for dry cleaners Birmingham you could have a line of text like this:
"When looking for dry cleaners, Birmingham has lots of options."
or
"We have lots of experience as dry cleaners. Birmingham is an amazing city and we are happy to serve our many customers."
Those are not the best examples, by I think you get my point though.

You definitely want to avoid "dry cleaners Birmingham". Just write to the folks. "Looking for a dry cleaner in Birmingham?" or something similar. Your content should be a blended to serve both humans and bots.

Sorry, misunderstood you. Please accept my apologies! I thought you are going cynical on that

István, I said "I agree" and gave you thumbs up.

I talk about this topic all the time at work. Its hard to fit some these keywords in naturally. For things like that which do not naturally flow I find using it in a header works. Also maybe a list instead of paragraph content (have that as well but leave your keyword out).
There are ways to make it fit into your page without making poorly read content.

I would go along with Istvans example.
Will's Dry Cleaners Birmingham or Birmingham Dry Cleaners are the very best at what they do.
Dry Cleaners in Birmingham is another good search term.
Thanks
Will

Egol no need to be cynical. I don't really have to much experience with this, but if that is a Brand name, such as "McKenzie's dry cleaners Birmingham", THEN I would use it.
That is a personal opinion.
If you don't agree then please give a response and maybe some advice where to read more about this matter. This is what TAGFEE is about, right?

I agree. If you want to paint a target on your back produce a lot of content that contains "dry cleaners Birmingham".
Yes, if I was Google I would be zapping those sites.

Hi Paul,
I would use it as "dry cleaners in Birmingham". It looks more natural for both visitor and search engine.
If you want to optimize it further for the "dry cleaners Birmingham", then just insert it as a hCard into footer of the site. It should do it's job.
Since you are a PRO member, you should check the latest webinar, there were some very good tips how to optimize locally.

Using a Sub Domain as a Main Domain?
Hi, I'm working on a site at the moment and the sub domain is acting as the main domain. This occurred when the site was redesigned and built on a sub domain for testing but it was never moved to the main domain when it went live (a couple of years ago). So little or no pages are live on domain.com but all on sub.domain.com. It's a large company but they have very poor rankings. Would you recommend that they move the sub domain back into the root folder? Does this involve renaming/re-pointing URLs? Thanks Louise

My website is not ranking for primary keywords in Google
I need help regarding some SEO strategy that need to be implemented to my website http://goo.gl/AiOgu1 . My website is a leading live chat product, daily it receives around 2000 unique visitors. Initially the website was impacted by manual link penalty, I cleaned up lot of backlinks, the website revoked from the penalty some where around June'14. Most of the secondary and longtail Keywords started ranking in Google, but unfortunately, it do not rank well for the primary keywords like (live chat, live chat software, helpdesk etc). Since I have done lot of onsite changes and even revamped the content but till now I dont find any improvement. I am unable to understand where I have got structed.

Can I use rel=canonical and then remove it?
Hi all! I run a ticketing site and I am considering using rel=canonical temporary. In Europe, when someone is looking for tickets for a soccer game, they look for them differently if the game is played in one city or in another city. I.e.: "liverpool arsenal tickets" - game played in the 1st leg in 2012 "arsenal liverpool tickets - game played in the 2nd leg in 2013 We have two different events, with two different unique texts but sometimes Google chooses the one in 2013 one before the closest one, especially for queries without dates or years. I don't want to remove the second game from our site - exceptionally some people can broswer our website and buy tickets with months in advance. So I am considering place a rel=canonical in the game played in 2013 poiting to the game played in a few weeks. After that, I would remove it. Would that make any sense? Thanks!

Keyword Selection - Long Tail or not long tail keyword
Hi Friends, We have a keyword "plus size clothing" but we used this as "plus size clothing 2012" to Cover the both keywords "Plus size clothing" and "Plus size clothing 2012" My question is, are we still focusing on "plus size clothing" when use "plus size clothing 2012" instead of the main keyword.? What strategy do yo suggest that when to use long tail and when to not. (when I talk to use a long tail than it means use it prominently on the page as main keyword should be used.)

Keyword weight in Domain Name
Hi All, I'm looking for some advice on URL structure. Our domain name includes 1/2 of many keyword strategies that we're considering. For example our domain is like, dive.com Keyword strategies that we're looking at targeting would include things like, "dive shop", "dive equipment" etc etc Are we competitive to have a structure like this? dive.com/shop/ dive.com/equipment/ Or will this structure yield stronger results? dive.com/dive-shop/ dive.com/dive-equipment/ Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks! Malcolm
