Gaining More Search Terms
-
Hello,
Ive been looking for answer to this but can't find it. How can you bump the number of search terms a search engine associates with content it has already indexed? I assume increasing links will do this, but I was wondering if there are other techniques?
For example if Google webmaster tools lists a site at having some 700 terms it relates to your site, how do you increase this on your already existing content, to sort of saturate the number of words associated per page?
-
Content! If you write well, to communicate to the site user, you will do well.
You will also tend to naturally use crucial words/phrases which normally go with your main subject. (A page on a baseball game, for example, will naturally include team names, runs, pitchers, bats, balls, teams, stars, innings, etc.) Those will tend to serve as secondary keywords, which in turn makes the page appear on more searches.
-
Expand the content. Explain in more depth, give examples, add images with captions, add data tables. The goal is to increase the number of words on a page and thus the number of words that combine to match queries.
-
Having varied ALT text in your links will totally expand the search terms that people will find your site with.
Varied ALT text in your images will also help quite a bit.
The optimal way to increase your sites targeted search terms is new pages with new content.
Or just adding new content to older pages as well.
As for brainstorming new search terms, I like to work with others, more brains can help with more unique ideas.

The effect of a links from a search engine?
Hi everyone,
Link Building | | AMA-DataSet
Iv recently been conducting a link analysis on one of my sites, I downloaded the list from web master tools, but iv noticed a number of links coming from a search engine websites. At a glance there are maybe 10-15 links from these search engine sites each with a slightly different domain name (e.g: 10search.com, 20search.com, 30search.com etc.) but the same design, same logos and similar results. What effect would these links have? and should I remove them? Thank you in advance0 -

Would it make sense to add a no-follow to About, Sign In, Join Us, Privacy, Terms of Use etc?
Hi everyone, In order to increase link juice for relevant interlinks, wouldn't it make sense to attribute no-follow to the following interlinks: About Us, Sign In, Join Us, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Security, Contact Us, Home (assuming brand name / logo also links to homepage), and any page where there are 2 or more links directing to the same page. Thank you, Kristian

Does the ratio of external nofollow links to external "do follow" links matter in terms of SERPs ranking?
My site has an external link nofollow:dofollow ratio of approximately 1:1 That is, there are about as many nofollow external links as "do follow" external links. I have an impression that the ratio of no-follow to "do follow" links is a factor in the way that our website shows up in SERPs. I have the impression from reading a variety of sources, and from looking at Seomoz, that calculate "trust" factors as if they mattered (in SERPs), that seem to value a relatively low nofollow:dofollow ratio. Am I correct about that? Thanks,

What is a link farm and how are they treated by search engines?
I notice one of my competitors who ranks prominantly has very odd looking backlinks. They come from MANY sites which all contain directories that look identical. Each site contains the exact same directory - only the design of the page is different. There is no theme or focus to the directories - they list everything from pencils to fencing. This competitor has very few links from outside of this directory but again it has MANY links from this directory. So my question is, does this qualify as a "link farm". And then, how do search engines treat "link farms?
