Too many links - How to address without removing them?
-
Hi,
When a page has too many links (over 100) due to the number of monthly blog archives for example, is it possible to use a code (like no index but just for one link) that would prevent Google from counting the link? Or not in which case the only options would be to leave the extra links or to delete them.
I do not want to put a no index at the page level but more at link level by preventing SE to follow the least important links but keeping them active for users.
Thank you,
David

The short answer is "no". There's no safe way (i.e. that doesn't look like cloaking) to NOINDEX just a few links, and nofollow doesn't work for internal PR-sculpting anymore.
When you're talking about something like an archive - a long list of resources - I wouldn't get too hung up on it. It's really an issue of balance. If every page on your site has 200 navigation links, you're spreading yourself really thin. If one page of your site references 100 blog posts in a list, that's pretty natural. You could paginate that list and use rel=prev/next or something like that, but there's always a trade-off (the first page would probably pass more PR and the later pages less).
The other option would be to have two archives - A Top 25/50/etc. that has the posts you most want to pass internal PR to, and then link that to an archive with everything. That would give the main posts more prominence.
Always a bit hard to say without seeing the site/page, but in this case, I don't think I'd lose sleep over it.

Agree. Also, too many links isn't as a big of a deal as it used to be. If Google even thinks there's a link there, they will try to crawl it or make the connection anyway.

I would look at it from a different perspective. I would ask myself whether user's are using those monthly archives and if not, just get rid of them. From what you are trying to do, the noindex or nofollow tag won't do it unfortunately.

Refferal links
I have a site where I can pick up where my hits came from. So if somebody clicks from another website link to visit my website, I will then pick up from which website they came from and also which page they landed on. Will google penalize me for this and see this as paid advertising?

Removing bad/poor quality links from the site
Sometime back my site was penalized due to unnatural artificial and deceptive links. Then we got removed the penalty by uploading file in Disavow Tool. Bad links are decreasing gradually now . What i am concerned to ask is that: 1: For how long i should wait till Google removes all the requested bad links 2:Second, i believe there are still many bad links that I dont want to keep. How to remove them now onward? Should we send Google a reconsideration request for removing the remaining bad links (site has been recovered already and no more under penalty banner) Tanveer

Should I Pay For Link Removal?
Hi, I'm in the middle of a link removal campaign and getting a lot of replies from site owners asking for payment or directing me to a link which is effectively a payment page. The way I see it is my client is paying me to do their SEO. I'd rather be spending my time and their money building quality links, therefore the link removal process is in my way and requests for payment an insult. However, I am not without sympathy for site owners being expected to remove links free of charge. After all there's absolutely no incentive for them. So far I've had a zero tolerance attitude towards this and refused to pay, but just wondered what everyone else's opinion was. On the other hand, many site owners have been very helpful and removed the links at my request. Is it the right thing for me to remove these domains from my Disavow Links file? I'm finding it to be a bit of a moral conundrum to be honest!

Value of Inbound Links to Pages With a lot of Outbound Links
Suppose you have a resource page of the Top 50 Awesome Sites in your niche. Since there are about 50 outbound links, then I would think there will be less Page Rank being passed to internal pages from internal links on the resource page. Since you are getting less PR passed to internal pages, are there other ways the inbound links can be beneficial, such as increasing the diversity of links of your domain? Sites like SEO Optimise seem to create a lot of Top 30 Resources lists and I have read that they think it is a strong tactic.

How many links per day to avoid sandbox
Dear Mozers, I start promoting my website www.buy-hosting.net on a daily basis now. I would like to know, how many links would you seed per day. As far as I understood, it is important to stay constant in the number of links to seed every day. But isn't there a danger of going to the sandbox, if the number is to high? The domain has no ibound links yet and although it is 2 years old was only parked until now. Thank you for your advice and kind regards

External link
Hi guys! You must get many questions about external links... This is mine. If I get an external link with good authority ranking in google, but it is not relevant to the site (for example, my site is about marquees, but we could get links from schools, which are our main clients, or any type of client) Does that affect negatively somehow to the rankings? or there is good value on it even is not related? Thanks! Adriana
