Proportion of branded keywords vs targeted keywords in anchor text distribution

Hello,
I have a question about the proportion (in %) of branded keywords vs targeted keywords in the anchor text distribution of a website.
Suppose if I have a website with 3 targeted keywords and 2 branded keywords in the anchor text distribution that looks like this:
1 main targeted keyword 20%
2 targeted keyword 15 %
3 targeted keyword 15 %
4 branded keyword 10 %
5 branded keyword 5 %
6 more keywords 35%
The question is: What would be the best distribution in percentages to aim for the main and other keywords?
Should the branded keyword % increase and (main) targeted decrease? Or something else?
(I have "Opensite Explorer" and Cognitive SEO" as tools to measure.)

I would certainly look at having more brand term anchors than commercial ones so I would start at greater than 50%.

Yes, I'm talking about commercial term anchors, and I think you answered my question.

This is the anchor text distribution of my best competitor. (So I have some work to do.)I understand that there is no magic number. But does someone have a "magic avarage"? Should it be more then 40%?

That looks like a very unnatural link profile to me. I assume you are talking about commercial term anchors when you mention 'targeted keywords'? If so then you would certainly need to build a much larger proportion of brand anchors for your links.
There is no magic number when talking about percentages of commercial to brand anchors. It varies between countries and industries. However, I can certainly say that only 15% brand anchors is way too low. To find the best ratio may take a bit of experimentation.

I have a new website and would like to use the keywords my competitors are using and was wondering the best way to take a look using Moz Pro?
The website is www.fapwrap.com - it's a new adult wall decals website. [editor's note: may not be safe for some workplaces] The wall decals we have are obviously a bit more niche than the bigger competitors, but I want to get into the first page to see how it helps us. I'm slowly taking over some kws like "xbox wraps" and "ps4 wraps" but those have low search volume and I feel like "wall decals" will help - though it's highly competitive. Suggestions? Thoughts on the Keywords sending visits.
So, many of you know my current bizarre situation. We are getting some assistance. If you are curious my posts are on here and you have all been extremely helpful. To my question: So in my Moz campaign I am tracking a handful of keywords and such, and then there are all the keywords that are sending results currently. Some of these I feel are pretty reasonable to transfer over to my keyword list. Some are pretty obvious that we should not use. Then there are some that seem to be luke warm. Are then worth tracking just because they are sending traffic? I guess the better question would be to look at if they are actually converting. Are people who are looking for Ice Cream upset when then end up at a place that doesn't sell Ice Cream.

How could I improve my "brand" and "mentions" using the Moz tool?
Hello I am a bit stuck on what to put into this section of MOZ. As you can see from the attached image I have setup to catch any mention of my business name and root url. For example, why wouldn't I want to brand all my keywords with my company name?

Keyword Difficulty Tool Ranking
I'm using the keyword difficultly tool to help me create a a list of 5 keywords (out of approx 50-60) to optimise pages for on a site. However I don't want to just choose the top 5 if 3 of them are too competitive and not worth targeting. From anyone's experience, for a small, new web company who has no pages optimised at this point, do you think there is a keyword difficulty score that I should create a hard limit on? So for instance, with a group of keywords, to only target keywords that have a difficulty score of 60 or below because anything higher would be too difficult to optimise the pages for in this stage of the sites development. Keyword tool: SEOMOZ spacific month ? vs adword tool 12 month average but same data ???
Running a keyword analysis in SEOMOZ it shows my the folowing information "Local Search Volume (Dec)". I compared the data for the specific country , language and keyword with the adwords keyword tool and it exactly showed me the same numbers. The adwords keyword tool shows: "Local Monthly Searches: This column shows the approximate 12-month average number of search terms matching each keyword" http://support.google.com/adwords/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=25148 So if the numbers are the same in google keword tool and SEOMOZ why is SEOMOZ saying that for a specif month? Quick Keyword Difficulty Question
Hello good people. Quick question about the Keyword Difficulty Tool (which is great by the way). I am wondering specifically about the "keyword difficulty score" If I were to type in "blue widget," the tool returns a diffiiculty score of 51%. "red widget" on the other had returns a score of 40%. My question is how much more difficult is the term, "blue widget" when compared to "red widget?" 20% harder? more, less? I just don't know. I'm sure the info is somewhere on the seomoz site, but I have searched high and low and cannot find it. Thanks a lot, Joe
