'Pay With A Tweet' - Yay or Nay

Is this system a good way of creating social signals?
If you have something of value maybe a eBook, does using the 'Pay With A Tweet' system seem like a good one?
The only thing I can think of that would be negative is if they paid with a tweet and then after removed the tweet.
Cheers

There was a YouMoz post last year at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-win-tweets-and-influence-search-engines-with-paywithatweet that explored using PWAT.

I agree that you need to make sure there are other ways to get the ebook (or whatever you are giving away). It may be hard to believe, but not everyone has a Twitter and/or Facebook, or they may not be willing to use it and you don't want to send a potential customer away frustrated. But otherwise I think it is a great idea and is at least worth testing.

Paying with a social signal is a great idea, but only if you give alternative means of getting the product. Ask for a minimum donation price or the like/tweet/etc and visitors will think they are getting a bargain by helping out your social media campaign.
Obviously this doesn't work out too well if you aren't actually selling anything. In that case I'd argue against giving access to content for a social signal, as that is extremely annoying and many will stop visiting your site because of it.
So in short, make sure users will want to tweet/like in exchange.

How do sites have so many 'total links'?
I've been analyzing some of our competitors: essayedge.com and papercheck.com Both sites have a large number of 'total links'... about 93,000 each. The former has about 1,200 linking root domains while the latter only has 195. Even for 1,200 linking root domains, 93k total links seems like a ton to me. Our site has 101 linking root domains and only 299 'total links'. I'm quite new to this whole SEO game and admittedly still learning a TON. Am I missing something here? How do sites generate so many links? This seems nuts to me. Thanks for any help!

Copying Competitor's Link Backs?
Hello, Is it a viable idea to copy competitors link structure? Imagine we manage a new site with low page and domain authority. Is okay to use the Link Tool and filter domains that link back to our competitor and then work our way up from low ranking directories and related sites? Currently I am using RoboForm and trying to 'catch up' to a competitor in terms of link backs. Additionally, I've been reading articles about whether submitting to directories is good, but if we see they have alright domain and page authorities, does it make sense to apply to them when our competitors are in them? Much appreciated

Many competitor's backlinks are in content anchor links. Ho do I get these same links?
Hi I managed to open up OSE. I'm finding that much of the competition's backlinks are in content anchor text links. Am I supposed to get backlinks from these same pages using the same anchor text but linking back to my page or is that allowed? If so, how do I get these in content blog post links? Thanks. Sunil.

I'm aware that spamming tools can lead to ruin..what do you use as a backlink strategy.
But I have had some luck with bookkmaRKING DEMON, and understand the pitfalls of massive submission, but I deal in facts not generalities. If the goal is to mix your links accross the pages in your site, and mix the DA quality, or pr of the links, and have them contextual as well as comments, directories, etc. who cares how it is done as long as it appears natural 1. Linkvana claims to be a posting service for you. you put text in with your link and it posts to relevant sites, the same as you would do manually. For my context links I see this as a better way than begging people to give me a link, or wasting time kissing butt of reporters (kike i did in the past). Anyway there is good and bad with everything. I want to know if anyone knows of anyone who used linkvana and what their experiences is ? And more importantly.... WHAT DOES EVERYONE USE AS A COMPLETE BACK LINK STRATEGY? Thanks
