Twitter Personas

How to best set up Twitter personas...
Connecting with different groups of people, for different clients.
There are even crossovers most notably in Graphic Design Industry 2 different clients want to engage with Graphic Designers.
Would prefer to handel all through my own account but don't want people to think huh SEO guy he just cares about links.
Best way forwards seem to be to set up client specific accounts?
Any thoughts?

Then it is not a twitter persona which is the act of playing a social role. In this case you are just playing a natural social role and should have no problem interacting with said designers.
Anyways I looked at your twitter profile, I think it would be fine. Since you describe yourself as a Web Designer on here, you should also describe that on your twitter profile. From a professional stand point, using your personal account will put more of a face on your account when you socialize with users. I think @justinmarch would be better off than using an account like @BestWebDesignerEvar.
As long as the method of approaching someone clearly outlines your objective, you should have no problem. Don't lead people to figure it out for themselves. We are all lazy and the amount of people that will research you because you did a @reply to something they said will be far less than a direct message complimenting on their design work that you took time researching.

Thanks for replying..
Started as a Graphic Designer so no faking involved.
In fact thats exactly what I don't want.
I do want to approach people from a social perspective first and foremost, not a link building perspective, which is why I feel my existing account may not be wholly appropriate.
Anyone have any experience of this?
Perhaps I'm wrong and I should use my own account, what do you think?
-
To interact with designers, I would not think you should fake being one. Not sure how you would pull it off.. but I would show interest in their work to interact with them. I doubt they will follow you just for claiming you are a designer.. Heck they might think Huh? this dude is going to rip off my ideas. Maybe you could look at their personal sites and offer some SEO critiques for exchange of some Design critiques, that may build a relationship between the two of you!
I'd say the best way to represent a quality twitter profile is to be yourself, of coarse with objectives in mind.. whether it be the sheer number of followers or the highly targeted group of relationships. Do exactly that of a person that you would follow yourself.
If you do go on to creating specific accounts you could use tools like 'tweek deck' or 'hootsuite'! those are really good for managing multiple twitter accounts.
Hope this helps and good luck!!

My Twitter Username was CHANGED by Twitter!
My twitter user name australia was changed by twitter to Australia1_ My original user name has been given to Toursim Australia. I never saw any correspondence about this from Twitter (I may have deleted it), nor from Tourism Australia. I have managed to send 2 related support requests to twitter; Once explaining I couldn't log in - and their reply was; "The email address you're writing from does not match the email on this account. For privacy reasons, we can't offer any more information about the email." Second time that my account was suspended - they replied; "If you're writing in about Australia1_ being suspended, this account is not currently suspended" I don't believe this can be a trademark issue because you cannot trademark a place name. I would love an explanation from twitter- Any tips?

Twitter Username Change / Character length
Hi Re: Changing Twitter Usernames/Character Length Issues: To improve the branding of a clients Twitter username I'm about to change clients 11 character Twitter username which currently is half brand name plus a number i.e. @halfbrand99 to a full brand name plus regional suffix i.e. @fullbrandnameuk (since brand name alone not available) totalling 16 characters. I know Twitter usernames should be as short as possible but think more important to maintain consistent brand identity across all social platforms. I have already changed the page profile name to brand name, included brand name in bio and linked to site in bio but not sure whether to change the username or not too ? Whats your opinion ? It doesnt matter, leave as is since shorter better re: character limits and rest of profile well branded OR Better to change to longer branded username for consistent brand identity ? Note: I will be setting up new profile for old username to catch and divert any peeps using old username etc Cheers Dan

Building links to a Twitter/social account
I've seen plenty of articles about using Twitter to build links, but how about building links to a Twitter account? Does registering on sites and directories like Topsy, Twellow and Klout help? We can link to Twitter accounts on our own websites and other social profiles, and use it as our link on blog comments etc, but is there anywhere else specific?

How to Analyze Twitter Followers
I'm working on an infographic and I need a way to analyse the followers of about 25 to 50 industry twitter accounts to figure what type of people their followers are. twittersheep.com used to do exactly this, look at the profile description area of twitter and produce a tag cloud of a given twitter account's followers based on terms from their profile fields. But they are no longer online. Anyone know of another service that does this ? Or can think of another way to get this data.

Does promoting a new page on twitter/facebook help it get indexed faster?
I know this probably won't matter much to people who get crawled on a regular basis, but for those of us who don't, does promoting a new page on social media help it get indexed faster with google? My site rarely gets crawled, but I've recently been adding new content. When I add new content I started to promote it on facebook/twitter and I do get minimal traffic from it. I noticed that a couple of the pages seem to be indexing quicker than pages normally do for me, although I'm not sure if it's because I recently migrated to WP or what..? I know T/FB are no follow sites, but is there a chance that promoting a page may contribute to the pages getting indexed? Thanks for any insight you can shed on the matter. It's more for curiosities sake than anything else. Pete S.

Do links in Paper.li twitter round-ups help my SEO?
My twitter feed is picked up in the daily roundups like Paper.li. Do these links count towards my SEO effort or are they just empty. Clearly they spread my content so that great, just wondered if the links pass juice to the site.

Tool/Method to find users on Twitter from a CSV file
I'm attempting to find users to follow and receive reciprocal follows for a client on twitter. Through the company's newsletter database, I have a CSV file of somewhere in the range of 20,000 email addresses and names. I've been importing them 250 at a time into an empty Gmail account then connecting that with twitter each time to find some of them. However, a lot of the PEOPLE using the email addresses on the mailing list are not on twitter but their COMPANY is. To find the company, I can obviously drop the name@ part of the email and just search by the domain but this becomes tedious real quick since it has to be one by one and cannot be bulk imported/searched. Are there any tools/ideas out there to more easily find twitter users based on a larger set of keywords and/or domain names?
