Authorship and 50% Drop in Search Traffic
-
Hi.
I had some problems with my content being copied by other sites, and was suggested to claim my pages. Immediately after Google started listing the posts with my photo next to them my traffic picked up slightly but since, over the past few weeks, it has dropped by about 50%!
It seems that the average position has declined (as has the CTR)
At the same time as claiming authorship I added the post date to my articles which I have now removed.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?
Thanks!

What I feel is that when you are adding authorship markup against the website, there is a possibility that the ranking of your website is going to get reevaluated based on the Author Rank of the profile. So, if you have set up authorship mark-up against the website, you need to make the author profile look active. Promote it with Guest posting, keep it fresh with regular updates and all. Hopefully the ranking will recover, unless the website has been affected by any other algo change otherwise.

Thanks. No, no change at all matches - I implemented authorship at the start of the month and saw no real change until about 10 days ago when it started to drop. Now I just had the worst day I've had for 6 months (there was a great boost in search position coinciding with Panda particularly the February 17 pack
Thanks

Hmmm pretty interesting.
can you go over here http://www.seomoz.org/google-algorithm-change and at the same time go to your Google Analytics and Match the day that your traffic dropped with the dates of these algo changes and see if anything matches.

Are Pages that have High Traffic and High Bounce Rates helpful?
I work as a marketing director for a small law firm. I had some basic SEO experience prior to joining the firm but I'm still building my knowledge base. I'm working to take over where the previous web developer left off and improve the site. The previous firm had developed pages for the law firm featuring yearly car crash statistics, statistics for bike crashes, etc. These pages get a good amount of hits but people quickly jump off the pages, and most are not even located in a region where they could potentially become a client. I feel like they added the pages to show the client that there was an increase in search traffic. However, 100% of the traffic bounces quickly after viewing the statistics pages. Does a page that has a decent amount of hits, but doesn't lead to conversions and has a nearly 100% bounce rate worth keeping around? My thought is, I would like to remove these pages that do not actually attract potential clients and reduce the overall bounce rate of the site. I don't want to take actions to remove the page without throwing this question out to more experienced people.

Ignore SEO and traffic/calls dropped
I got caught up in a disaster of a website that consumed 3/4 of a year, all the while our SEO was put on the backburner with only occasional "massaging" to keep it going. Now our traffic has dropped almost 25% along with our incoming calls. Our rankings have remained steadily good- medium but definitely not bad during this period. My question: Who else has had this experience and how long did it take to rebound? TY

Stagnant Traffic
The traffic on my site (http://www.tbreak.com) has been stagnant over the last few months. We're a news posting site and posting a good 4-8 posts per day and using Yoast plugin to make sure they are optimized, but traffic has not grown at all. What could be the reason for that?

Should I include location in title tag to rank higher in local search
I'm working on a site for a small guest house (http://www.tommysonthebeach.com). I have created a Google Place page (Bing and Yahoo Local) as well and I have the address in the footer on every page. I have the location (Indian Rocks Beach) at the beginning of most titles tags because that is how people tend to search, e.g. "Indian Rocks Beach vacation rental." In theory I would think that I don't need location in the title tag because Google knows the location, and I could use the real estate for other keywords suchs as "pet friendly" or "beach hotel," etc. But when I look at the SERPS, those ranking highly all seem to have the location at the beginning of the title tag. Thanks. P.S. The site is currently not showing up in Google local search apparently because Google thinks it's a vacation rental agency, which are not allowed in local search. I'm trying to get that fixed.
