Are guest post exchanges an acceptable tactic?

Suppose you publish a guest post on a relevant and quality blog and then you have that site also write a guest post for you. Is this considered natural? What do you think of this tactic? Is there risk of a penalty for exchanging links?

Hi there, if it's a "relevant and quality" blog it probably will be considered natural. This is fine once in a while but I wouldn't rely on it as a tactic - too many reciprocal links will devalue the link authority.

I dont think there is a penalty as long as its done in a natural manner including same topic relevance.
Guest Blogging should be just as part of the strategy.Its always recommended to have the highest quality content so people would want to link to you without having to force the link as a guest blogger.
I see Guest Blogging as a great opportunity for SEO, and you should pursue it as long as it represents only a small part of the overall SEO strategy.

You can do this to a point. Remember Google will not give the same amount of credit for reciprocal links so in less you are somehow in business together or there is a good reason for you to be creating reciprocal links I would say to one guest post every once in a while I believe the reciprocal link factor would take down any existing credit given for a great blog post however if you're in the same industry I think that would allow you to blog on their site and they on your site.
It would just have to be on all the time.

Anchor Text - How many and what do with our old posts
Hello, I have a two larger established websites that achieve over 1000 unique views a day. The sites have done well but we have always had problem with SEO. The vast majority of traffic is from our social media accounts -- we rank low on the SERP - below competitive pages that have less updates and much lower traffic. When I set the sites up I misunderstood a number of key issues but with over 4500 posts and 600 pages it has takes a huge amount of time to change things. I have now realised another issue -- we did not use Anchor Text to link to provide internal links to our keywords on our site. We are now adding them. My question is two fold: How many internal links should we add? From what I read on Moz - 5 to 6 internal links should be the right number. Comments? 2) We have numerous posts ie over 4000 that go back over 4 years. Should I change them all at once or will this flag a spam issue with Google? Believe me after years of problems I do not want another set back. Suggestions and advice would be welcome. Thanks

Guest Blog It
Does anybody else here use the Guest Blog It site? I have tried submitting an article but it's telling me that it's 47% duplicate content. I have ran it through 2 plagiarism checkers and they both said it was 100% unique. I have tried contacting the site directly about this but as of yet have had no response. I was just wondering if anybody on here knows what they use to check for duplicate content so I can take a look and amend my article. Thanks 🙂

A tool to post to all bookmarking sites
Hi, does anyone know if there is a tool that you can use from your desktop to post to all bookmarking sites at once. Ping fm was really good but now it has changed and not as good. So now i am looking for a good online tool where i can post to all of my bookmarking sites to help increase visitors to our site. Anchor text diversity - post penguin.
Hi, It seems that achor text diversity is hugely important post penguin but what's the best strategy? What kind of anchor text should I be going for? As I understand it more that 60% of links with the keywords in trigger a google flag. For example are the following good examples for the term 'wedding singer'? local wedding singer, best wedding singer, wedding singer website, hire wedding singer. Would these cause triggers in google as all contain the keyword 'wedding singer'? Or should I be going for: click here, visit us, listen now, view a profile Obviously these words don't contain the anchor text 'wedding singer' but with a few exact match #wedding singer' anchor texts and good on page SEO will this mix give better results?

How might Google differentiate between an artificial link exchange and partners linking to each other?
Hi, All! Artificial link exchanges (contacting a vaguely connected site and requesting to exchange links to increase your PR) is, as far as I know, considered an outdated, not-so-smart technique, as Google might devalue them. Yet, for real business partners to exchange links seems to be an entirely accepted and encouraged technique. While that would be intuitive to a human who's viewing the pages. how might Google detect when two sites that link to each other are linking because they are trusted business associates (valuable) as opposed to when they are doing a link exchange (devalued)? Do "Sponsored Posts" links get discounted by google? A feture post that is tagged by the site as "featured' or "sponsored" are they discounted as paid links by google?
