Is it better to have your blog open in a separate window?
-
I've set up a blog on one of my websites, however it doesn't open in a separate window. I know from looking at other blogs that they usually open in separate windows. Is that good practice? Will it make any difference to your SEO performance?
-
Well it will raise your bounce rate and lower the time spent on your main site if the blog is on another domain. And those are SEO factors, so I would recommend spawning a new window. There is no downside to opening it in a new window.
-
As long as your blog is optimized for SEO and your blog is a part of your website and not hosted somewhere else you shouldn't see a difference in SEO performance by having it open or not open in a new window. For convenience if your blog is hosted with your website I would not have it open in a new window. If it's hosted somewhere else then I would absolutely have it open in a new window to help minimize your bounce rate.
Hope that helps,
Mike

Is your blog contained within your main site or is it hosted elsewhere?
If your blog is hosted on your main site and maintains the same site structure then there is no harm keeping it as is.
However, if your blog is hosted elsewhere and has a different site structure where it is hosted then I would suggest having the blog open in a new window.
It can be disorienting to visitors to click and end up moving away from your main navigation and structure and they may not click the back button when they are done on the blog.

Moving from Blogspot to blog hosted on our domain
Hi there, I work for a furniture retailer in the UK and I have a question about moving our blog. We have had a blog at www.ourcompany.blogspot.co.uk since 2012 and it was last updated mid 2014. There are about 100 posts and the content is actually really good, not spammy in any way and not stuffed with links to our site. The content is essentially guides to buying the right furniture. We have now launched blog functionaility on our website at www.ourcompany.co.uk/blog as I feel this is a better long-term solution to increasing site traffic and page rank. I want to pick your brains on the best way to handle the old content. A: Copy all the Blogspot content across and back date it to the same date it was originally published and then delete the old Blogspot account? Or will Google see this as duplicate content. B: Backup all the Blogspot content now, delete the Blogspot account and then repost this content at a later date? Will this still be seen as duplicate content? 😄 something else. Thanks for reading.

Starting a Blog. New Domain vs integrated in a shop domain?
Hi everybody, We are going to start a blog for posting about topics related to our online shop and its products. Our question is... what is better in terms of SEO.... Creating it in a new domain and linking to our online store when neccessary, or integrating it in our actual online shop and take advantage of our visitors? Thank you very much in advance! Best Regards

Best Way to Manage Multiple Blogs
Good Morning... I have multiple blogs that all relate to the same industry and products... The blogs all have unique content, they do not have duplicate content... Is there a way to share the information or link from one to the other without being seen as someone trying to manipulate anything? The goal is to keep each blog updated frequently, but I can only write so much unique content... can i somehow share the content? Please provide any feedback or advice... Thanks

Short Meme/Image Posts on Blog - Will this hurt me?
Hey guys, I use Hootsuite to cross-post to twitter/facebook/google+/wordpress. It's mostly short one-sentence posts (http://minecraftserverfinder.wordpress.com/). But it's updated about 5-6 times a day and the images are relevant and interesting to my followers. Currently the wordpress page is not hosted on my main site minecraftserverfinder.com, it just links to it. I do have another blog on minecraftserverfinder.com/blog that has a couple of lengthy articles. My questions are thus: Should I keep going with these posts? Should I consolidate the blogs and host them on my main site? Thanks in advance.

For a consumer facing blog, how often do you recommend updating content to develop good rankings? I understand that it's really dependent upon the niche/competition, but what are some best practices? Content is expensive. Thanks
