Finding Guest Bloggers
-
Does anyone have good tips for finding someone who can do guest blogging for me? I don't have the time to track down good blogs to post on.
-
I find the guest blogging classifies horrible these days. Like all things SEO they were great for a while and now its so full of people that wouldn't pass Grade 2 English that it's a waste of time. It's just a little too hit and miss. I would simply find some blogs you love that are in a similar niche and probably about the same size in terms of online standing and send out a 'how do you do' email. If you like their blog then you already know they have an agreeable writing style so you're half way there. Either that or hire a content writer (like me!) . Many content writers rates are quite inexpensive, especially if you get say 10 articles for a set price.

Put up a sign. Make the requirements really steep.
Something will appear in your email.

Check out http://myblogguest.com/ - it's a forum where you can request content (for free) by category and people will send you posts. I've used it a little and find it to be an overly good community.
Alternatively you could try www.odesk.com which is a website where you pay for resource (people bid on your job so it's a cheap alternative). I've had good and bad resource from there so when hiring just be sure to ask for a sample of their writing first.

Have you checked out http://myblogguest.com/ ?
I've thought about this and an idea i'm going to test out is a banner on my blog, a really visual one that would lead users to a landing page explaining why I would like guest bloggers to apply.
I would detail this page with screenshots showing what a guest blog would look like, featuring them in a big author section (this might include a picture of their choice, their interests, their website etc). They are doing the hard work of writing a great blog, it just makes sense to give a beautiful layout to showcase their work.
Another idea I thought about was a thumbs up or thumbs down option, users who read the article can thumb it, the more thumbs, the more it might motivate the individual to submit more. Plus, it might spur other readers to submit as well.

How do you find your ideas for content
Morning Mozzers, We have finally come to the point where we can start to focus on making good original content. We were wondering how you guys come up with ideas for your content. We are currently doing lots of keyword research to gather ideas and subject areas. But we are struggling with 'angles of attack'. Being an eCommerce site it is easy to do lots of "The 5 best products for this" type of content. But we feel there is limited value in these especially if we want to gain links to our articles in future as valued content. How do you come up with your ideas for more valuable and linkable content especially in very niche product areas. Thanks all.

Could posting on YouMoz get you penalized for "Guest Blogging?"
From my understanding, Matt Cutts hates guest blogging, so I told all of the attorneys here not to write anywhere but on our blog. However, I realized people are constantly "guest blogging' on Moz, and considering how smart these people are, it must not be hurting them or they wouldn't do it. However, what I don't understand is why? Yes, I do get that the quality of what's on YouMoz is high and not spammy, but I got the impression that didn't really matter. Guest blogging would get you into trouble no matter what. Can someone clarify for me? Thanks, Ruben

Rel="noindex in a guest post
I'm guest posting on some sites and one of them placed my back link as follows: mysite.com I'm not sure what he's trying to achieve with the help of rel="noindex"? The first that jumps into my mind is that Google will index the post but skip my backlink. So, there's no sense in such a bakclink, ringht?

Health/Exercise/Fitness bloggers?
Hey Mozzers, I have a lot of blogs that deal with health/exercise/fitness and that niche and need to get content for them. I'm not looking for mass content that is crap. I'm looking for well thought out stuff. Any bloggers in that industry want to be guest authors and put up some posts on any of my sites? Trying to get good content and this seems like a good way. You can include a link back to you obviously. Please let me know if you are interested, I'm happy to get in touch and post your content on my sites. Thanks!

Ideas for Redesigning, Relaunching, and Revitalizing a Community of Bloggers
As a longtime user (now the owner) of a great site that was down a few times over the last couple of years I am looking for advice on how to let the over 100,000 members that have used us know that we are back and now supported fully by a team of people that love the site and what we stand for (quality, curated content and blog carnivals). We did a complete redesign, removed old carnivals, removed inactive users, deleted lower quality carnivals, and fixed some portions of the site that were less than optimal (aka broken). Should we attempt to email everyone, or let them naturally come back? In case it's not clear, we are from BlogCarnival.com.

Should You Allow Off-Topic Links in Guest Posts
Hi Mozzers! Suppose you accept guest posts on your blog about marketing and a guest blogger wants to use the anchor text "outdoor clothing" in their bio. Is there a risk to my blog if I allow off-topic links in guest posts? Is there a risk that Google would consider guest post links as paid and apply a penalty? Thanks!
