Titles in google serps incorrect
-
If you do the following query in google:
site:orlandovisiting.com legend sparrow
You'll see in the results the title appears as:
legend-captain-jack-sparrow-1149.html
Where the title tag in the source is:
<title>The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow Opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studiostitle>
Eventually it normally rights itself, but does anyone else get this with their sites?
Thanks.

Hi Ian,
Google uses many singles to display title in SERP like backlinks pointing that pages, data from directory sites, social media signals etc. They try to increase the CTR of your website so that they display different titles.

Ok so in summary. It's not a hard and fast number of characters, but looks like its pixel widths. Also google can ignore the title tag if it has deemed the title tag non-descriptive?
So two title tags:
<title>The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow Opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios</title>
appears as:
legend-captain-jack-sparrow-1149.html - Orlando Visiting
<title>Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow | Walt Disney World News</title>
appears as
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow ...
Is it the pipe in the title affecting this because I wouldn't say it the title tag physical width or number of characters?

Google displays multiple titles for same article. What does this mean?
I've linked to some screenshots so that it what I'm talking about makes more sense. Sometimes, when I perform a search, I see an article with the correct article title listed as the page title in the SERPs. Other times, I see the wrong page title – it's a generic somethin' or other done by my client's web design company with a bunch of keywords thrown in. The latter (not the correct article title) also appears at the top of the browser tab for every article on my client's site. I know this is bad, but what can be done about it? This would never happen if my client used Wordpress or some easily modifiable CMS, but they're using a proprietary one maintained by the group that designed the website. open?id=0BxB_dYL1ylGgVVF1dHlwdXp2dFU open?id=0BxB_dYL1ylGgdWJjdlJoRlRIR00

Google Publisher status
Hi all, I just wondered what the general opinion was with regard getting Google publisher status for medium to large organisations. Lots of our clients write a lot of articles & publications and it would be interesting to get some thoughts on how others view Authorship & in particular Publisher credentials. Thanks!

Hit by Google
My site - www.northernlightsiceland.com - has been hit by google and Im not sure why. The traffic dropped 75% last 24 hours and all the most important keywords have dropped significantly in the SERP. The only issue I can think of are the subpages for the northern lights forecasting I did every day e.g. http://www.northernlightsiceland.com/northern-lights-forecast-iceland-3-oct-2012/ I have been simply doing a copy/paste for 1 month the same subpage, but only changing the top part (Summary) for each day. Could this be the reason why Im penalized? I have now simply taken them all down minus the last 3 days (that are relevant). What can I do to get up on my feet again? This is mission critical for me as you can imagine. Im wondering if it got hit by this EMD update on 28 sept that was focusing on exact match domains http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4501349-1-30.htm

Google Places Question......
Hi Guys. I am working with a photographer they do not have a studio they shoot on location. However I noticed many photographers within their industry have their home address listed in their google places, and they too shoot on location. My client doesn't want their home address listed so I wondered what options there would be? Do you think renting mail forwarding address would suffice?

Why Google did not index our domain?
Hi, We launched tmart 60 days ago and submitted to google, bing, yahoo 20 days later. But google had never indexed our website still when yahoo indexed it in one week. What we have checked or tried: 1. We got 20~50 inlinks in one month and now 81 inlinks via yahoo site explorer. 2. This domain has registered for 13 years and we purchased it from sedo last year. We

did not find any problems from domain archive pages. 3. Page similar: the homepage is 50% similar to one of our competitors when we just launched.
So we adjusted the page structure and modified the content one month later and decreased the similarity to 30% (by tools from webconfs.com) 4. Google Robots: googlebot crawled our website every day after we submitted for indexing.
We opened GWT account for it and added the xml sitemap last week. GWT said nothing
was wrong except the time of page loading. Our questions: Why google did not indexed our website? What should we do? Thanks, wu0
