How to ALT tag correctly many similar images?
-
scenario: I have a product page with some text about the product and 12-15 different images af the product: details, colours, different views...
how should I name an alt tag them correctly, been them actually really similar?
Is it keyword stuffing to use the same name containing a relevant keywords?
-
Yeah, just keep it natural - if that is the best way to describe the image, then go for it. If something else is a better way, then choose that.
-
Hi Marcus, everything make sense
but if the name of "Product A" contains a relevant keyword, at the end we have 15 keyword repetition in one page. would be ok?
-
I agree,
Just kind of describe what it's showing of a specific picture. Just keep in mind the "real" use of alt text, Accessability for people without a monitor, if you keep that in mind, you should be golden.
-
Just try to be as honest and descriptive as possible. Consider you were not doing it for a search engine but that you were doing it for a blind site user who would want as much info as possible.
Product A - Side View
Product A - view from top
Product A in Red
Product A in Blue
etc
Tough and alt text is often a mess, or repeated in these cases so just describe each image as best and as naturally as possible and you will be okay.

Is it OK to shorten your brand name in your title tags
If your title tag is over 55 characters, is it generally OK or good practice to abbreviate your brand name (at the end of the title tag) for the sake of the other keywords in the tag?

Should blog tags be location specific?
I understand the concept of organizing blogs with categories, but how specific should the tags on blog posts be? i.e. "cosmetic dentist" vs. "cosmetic dentist san francisco" I'm specifically using Squarespace if that helps. Thanks!

SVG image files causing multiple title tags on page - SEO issue?
Does anyone have any experience with SVG image files and on-page SEO? A client is using them and it seems they use the title tag in the same way a regular image (JPG/PNG) would use an image ALT tag. I'm concerned that search engines will see the multiple title tags on the page and that this will cause SEO issues. Regular crawlers like Moz flag it as a second title tag, however it's outside the header and in a SVG wrap so the crawlers really should understand that this is a SVG title rather than a second page title. But is this the case? If anyone has experience with this, I'd love to hear about it.

Should the title tag now be 50 characters long?
Hi, I'm fairly new to SEO and as a rule so far I have been making every page title around 70 characters in length, after analysing the a website that I'm currently working on in the MOZ tool it say's that the page title element is to long. Does anyone know if I should carry on writing titles 70 characters in length or if I should go down to 50, I have been using this tool (http://www.seomofo.com/snippet-optimizer.html) as a guide if you know of any others then that would be great and any advice will be greatly appreciated. Regards Chris

Break in H1 tag - big, small or no problem?
Hi, I've just taken on a new ski client who offers ski instructor courses. The landing page for the keyword [ski instructor courses] was created by the web agency but with no heading tags... http://www.snowrehab.com/ski-instructor-courses Subsequently they've put them in but I've noticed the H1 tag has a break in it where 'ski' is on a separate line to 'instructor courses' Is this an issue that need to be addressed? Also I can't look up the page in the Moz on-page grader - any ideas why? Many thanks! Richard

Too many links on home page
SEOmoz crawl states I have 3 pages with too many links. My sites are hosted on Yahoo small business. One page they state is too long is the home page/ind. with 600 links to each page on the web site ( I think). Is this really a problem and how do I fix it? The other two pages are product categories that link to the products under the main product type. What I do not understand is that we have many larger product categories that SEOmoz crawl is not stating too many.

Similar Keywords/Different Pages
My question is about my content strategy regarding keywords and page creation. For this example I will use the following keywords: "widget financing" "widget leasing" "widget loans" "thingy financing" "thingy leasing" "leasing loans" "whatchamacallit financing" "whatchamacallit leasing" "whatchamacalit loans" You get the idea. Now I have created a separate page for each of these keywords. There are about 70 keywords and their respective pages. Although all of these describe the same thing I have re-written each page. In other words I didn't use the same content and just substituted the keywords. Each page is roughly 200 to 500 words. I do rank very well for most of these keywords. I would post some of the pages from my site here but I didn't know if that is frowned on. My fear/concern is will I get in trouble in a "post Panda" world. Again, the pages rank very well I just want to be in good graces with Google going forward.

Too many on page links on ecommerce site
I have an online store with 10 catagories, many of those have subcategories. I have a tree style navigation menu on the page. This helps people quickly find what they need. However, I end up with about 125 links on the page that way. Does google really penalize me for this? Is there anyway around this? Advice much appreciated!
