What is your best technique of getting .Gov and .Edu links?
-
I'm looking for some great techniques to get .Gov and .Edu links. Please do not comment "Great content" because I know that. I'm looking for something beyond creating great linkworthy content.
-
Hmm, have to agree with the other commenters below and whilst your client may just want any edu or gov links it is really your responsibility, or our responsibility to explain the error in that way of thinking.
That said, if you wanted links from valuable .edu or .gov pages I would flip this on it's head and look at it in reverse.
1. Find content in your niche that is being linked to by .gov or .edu sites
2. Examine a range of .gov or .edu sites to determine what they are linking to
Then, create some of this 'great content' (sorry) and then do some outreach to these sites to inform of this new resource that is substantially better or fills some gap in what they already link out to and ask them for a link.
That is a view from 10,000 feet but in essence, that is the only way to get links from high quality resource pages on .gov or .edu sites (and is very suited to the education sites).
Still, I would advise your client on the error of their ways as if this backfires or does not work, then they will still want you, as the expert, to explain why.

I'd still shy away from just "any" edu link. That'll include comments on abandoned blogs where there are literally 4000 other comments with anchor text for drugs and casinos as the user name.

Cheaper method long term use Scrape box Just do not over do it, Nice & Steady!.
-
I have a client who is looking specifically for .edu and .gov links. So yes in this case any will do!
-
Will any .edu or .gov do?
.edu and .gov sites don't really come with any sort of boost beyond the natural strength of the page. The bonus usually comes from the fact they're on a strong page.

What's a good way to get started with competitive research?
Hi all, SEO noob here. I'm doing an audit for a firm that makes specialized accounting software. It's a relatively new firm, with a barebones website. My client has identified three direct business competitors. In addition, I see indirect competitors (such as product reviews) on the SERP for a relevant keyword phrase. I want to provide actionable advice for my client. What information should I present? I'd like to help my client understand: Why my client's competitors are outperforming them on the SERPs What my client needs to do to overtake their competitors What information should I present to my client? Thanks, all.

My competitor's sneaky link building technique
Hi, I can't figure out how my competitor seems to fit four invisible nav menus into her home page. If you view her page source and type "/about" for example, it shows five examples of the text linking to her "about" page. But four of them can't be located on the web page (they are hidden). How does she do this? She basically has four duplicate links that are counted for SEO but can't be seen on the webpage. address: http:// camilla peffer.com. au/ Any ideas?

Creating Free Website Accounts (Weebly, Wix, Wordpress.com, etc) for Linking Purposes?
Greetings Mozzers, I came a cross several sites and when looking at their link profile I found they had several links from these free services to gain links. Obviously duplicate content is bad, but if all the content on each one was completely unique, would these links be of quality? Let's say, 1 link per site that is external to your site. I know it's a tricky topic but just wanted thoughts, would the above be a potentially beneficial method for gaining a simple quality link. Your advice and information is much appreciated!

What's the difference between 'external links' and 'linking domains to this domain' in my report?
I'm looking at a competitor analysis report. The number provided for 'external links' is 150. The number for 'external links to this domain' is 4860 and 'linking domains to this domain' is 232. What are the differences between these numbers?

Manta inbound link in OSE - competitor site yes, my site no, why?
Our site has had a link back to our site from Manta for a long time, but it's not appearing in our OSE results. One of our competitors similarly has an inbound link from Manta and that link DOES appear in their OSE results. I'm not certain whether that matters for us. Does it? But in any event, why would the one link appear but not the other? Thanks! Tim

Why do some websites that have hardly any backlinks, poorly optimised get placed above sites that are doing all they can with SEO?
For example take these two websites. www.rfasecurity.co.uk is a site that Iam working on and have had some success with yet snifferdogs.org.uk seems to be poorly optimised with little backlinks and still gets place higher. is it due to the key word in the domian name? The key search word is sniffer dogs New at this so any help would be appreciated regards Dave
