All My Metrics Improved from Last Month but Domain Authority Decreased
-
Hi SEOMoz community! My site's Domain Authority has decreased from 43 to 41 since last month. I cannot figure out why. ALL my metrics (Domain MozRank, Domain MozTrust, External Followed Links, etc. have increased. See attached image. Is Domain Authority a ranking system based on your peers? Can someone better explain the Domain Authority algorithm? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hmm, our DA is back up to 43 with yesterday's crawl.
Thanks EGOL.

Hi Zora,
Here is the link where seomoz has explained each and everything about Domain Authority. Please go through it:

Have you ever used a voltage meter or a sound level meter? You can see flux in the digits or a little jitter in the needle?
How about getting on a digital scale. The number moves around if you shift your feet, move your arm or even fart.
DA has the same type of flux.

Hi, this is interesting, I see that you increase a lot the links. What kind of links did you build? I think that the links drop down your authority. Lets see what the most experienced members will say.

Why do the competitive link analysis numbers not match the domain analysis?
There is only one area that our competitor out ranks us and that is in the total links on the root domain. But when i go to competitive link analysis we have more links then they do. Any ideas?

How to handle 2 domains pointing to the same server.
My client has 2 domains which point to the same sever. eg a.com and b.com both point to the same place. For now a.com has better seo but the client wants to switch to using b.com more. Im guessing 301 redirects will not work in this case. How would I handle this? If i'm forced to manage both domains, what is the best practice for monitoring in seomoz pro. Should i set up a.com as a competitor?

Tracking a british (.co.uk) domain
I tried to track a british domain and it looks like SEOMOZ interprets it as a subdomain as it has a XX.co.uk address. When I list it as a subdomain, it says that the domain is not responding (i guess coz its pining co.uk. What do I do to create a profile?

How are our competitors getting these inbound linking domains?
I'm currently managing SEO for my company's website, and I'm getting into link building for the first time. As part of the process, I'm using Open Site Explorer to see who's linking into our competitor sites, to get a better sense of what's available to us in our particular avenue of e-commerce. However, I'm finding that our competitors are getting inbound links from high-authority sites pretty far afield from selling jewelry - census.gov, parallels.com, warnerbros.com, and others. I try clicking through to these links, but each link starts a download of a file. I've seen .f4v, .7z, and .apk files listed as inbound links to our competitor. How is this happening? Again, I'm new to link building, so there may be a simple answer here, and if so I apologize for asking. However, this seems really strange to me, and a difficult situation to confront.

Which would you chose? Link on PA56 with 88 OBL's and 80 IBL's or a link on a PA75 with 225 OBL's & 40 IBL (Same Domain)
Which would you chose? Link on PA56 with 88 OBL's and 80 IBL's or a link on a PA75 with 225 OBL's & 40 IBL (Same Domain) Pretty self explanatory. I want to know what metrics SEOMozzers rely on most. If you are not an expert at evaluating links for large scale development please don't muddy the waters on this question with a thin and vague answer.

Domain Authority: Sites with lower numbers get higher ranking.
We had a question about your online tools for http://pro.seomoz.org/campaigns/30642 The Domain Authority for http://pucherinsurance.com/ is 67: Higher than most of our competitors such as <cite><cite>bluecross.ca which has a rank of 54. </cite> </cite> We show up lower in the actual search results. An example phrase would be Visitors to Canada health Insurance. We get an A grade for onsite reports and we are working on the duplicate content and titles. We appear to be doing everything right but still rank lower than expected. Any thoughts?

Why would PA be 1 (0 links from 0 root domains) if it's linked to internally?
Question just about said it all: I've seen a number of pages on sites that have a PA of 1 (with the metrics being 0 links from 0 root domains) when I can see on the site that it is linked to internally - from the main nav (which is CSS, not Javascript) and also from the footer, if not other places. Why would this be? Update: upon looking further at the site, it appears that there's some kind of redirect going on, where the page linked to from the nav actually redirects to the real page. Would that eliminate PA, even if it's a 301? And additionally, is whatever is causing this lack of PA a reflection of how Google would relate to the page? Thanks, Aviva
