Google Blogger Vs. Sub Domain Blog - Authority building.
-
We are looking into offering blogs for our customers on their current sites that we have built & host for them.
My developers have given me 2 options.
1. Sub domain with a hosted blog.
2. A Google Blogger blog with our customers sub-domain pointed to it.
In my opinion I feel that a blog hosted on the sub domain is a better option as it is more authority then a Google Blogger blog.
What does everyone think? Having a blog hosted on the subdomain would help with authority building vs. a Google Blogger site?
Thanks for any help!

I believe Google has, in fact, relaxed on the rules re. sub-domains. But I believe there is one caveat: that if you have too many sub-domains Google starts to apply less value.
So be careful. If you use sub-domains for other reasons you may consider using a folder off the root.
-
Tell them to learn how to do it in a folder.
Millions of websites have wordpress blogs installed in a folder.
It is not difficult.
Hire someone to do it for you or hire someone to train someone in the IT department.
-
Exactly. I want a wordpress integration however they are pushing for a Google Blogger saying it won't make a difference.
I'm just looking for peoples opinions & thoughts on the topic as I'd like to prove to them that Wordpress subfolder is the best option.
Thanks!
-
Yes! That is what I'm pushing for is a subfolder. However my IT department is pushing back and saying they can only achieve this in a sub directory. Thanks for supporting my thoughts.
-
Instead of using a subdomain, I would use a folder on the root domain.
If you do that the blog will benefit from the domain's authority and the domain will benefit from links given to the blog.
Lots of domains have blogs in subdomains and these are often owned by various people. Google is unlikely to distribute authority to the subdomains for this reason.
-
Google recently relax the rules on subdomains they will now be ranked same the same way as their domain so www. which is a subdomain or blog is equal and will be equal in the eyes of Google
Why are you being cruel using blogger you can easily use WordPress take the existing stylesheet that time website to make it match and have a better platform area of the entire site again WordPress thank you I hope I hope you,
Thomas

Can anyone recommend a good reliable blogging platform for a small to medium sized manufacturing and services company?
I've been asked by my manager to investigate the best blogging platform for our company website. On a recent CIM course it ways suggested that Wordpress is not necessarily reliable. Could anyone advise? The blog is required to provide a space for current industry news, casestudies etc. It is also envisaged that the blog will allow comments. I've only got good things to say about Wordpress, but have only used the platform for my own small SEO company.

Repurpose/reuse blog content - email address to make available for this
Hi, From Rand's recent Whiteboard Friday, I learned this: "Have right on the blog page the email address to use if they want to repurpose/reuse the content. That way if someone wants to give us a backlink and quote/reference our blog, they have an easy way to get permission." My question is, what do I say with the email address when I list our contact email? Something like 1. Just list the email address 2. "To reuse/repurpose our content, please contact adress@email.com." or something else?

How to encourage guest bloggers to link back
Hi, we have just started to allow guest bloggers on our site www.in2town.co.uk where we offer them two links within the articles, but what we would really like to do is to encourage them to link back to their articles. I am trying to find information on how we can encourage guest bloggers to link back and would love to hear your thoughts.

Typepad.com blog migration & duplicate content
I've migrated a typepad.com blog with a bunch of content (but little traffic) onto a hosted WordPress site under my own domain name (the way I should've done it in the first place). Now I don't want to confuse Google that the new site is duplicating content from the other site, so would I be better off with: 1) meta-refresh redirecting each typepad.com post to the same post on the new blog, or 2) just killing the typepad.com blog entirely so Google will not find duplicate posts anywhere. In favor of #2 is the fact that these posts get very little traffic today. I figure I will lose more traffic from duplicate content ranking penalties than from losing the posts themselves in the original blog. What do you think?

What is the Best Way to Become a Guest Blogger?
What have you found to be the best way to convince quality blog sites with authority to let you become a guest blogger for their site? I know that providing samples of quality writing is key. But other than that, what is the best way "in"? I have a handful of quality writers at my disposal and also write myself, but I'm trying to find effective ways of convincing established blogs to let me write for them. Please send me your best, most creative suggestions! What has worked for you? Thank you, Afshin Apples of Gold
