Ranking report not accurate
-
I've justed signed up for SEOMOZ and testing out the ranking report software. For a client that I'm doing an audit for I've ran a ranking report against the keywords.
Using Chrome Incognito I've checked the ranking and they are on the 1st page but the ranking report is showing they aren't in the top 43, any ideas why this might be?
I've checked my setting and set up and that's all fine.

Just a quick check to make sure that you're using the same subdomain in both cases. Could the campaign be for non-www and the site is ranking for the www version?

Hi Charlotte
First of all make sure you are not signed in, even with incognito on it will still bring up personalized results.
Personally, I tend not to use SEOmoz for rank tracking as they tend to be slightly off (something that i think they are working on), for full SERPs reports i'd use Ravens Tools or do it manually.

If you want me to doublecheck give the search term and the URL and I will tell you exactly what I get off of my phone when I search on Google

Even using incognito does not Help much especially if you're still logged into Google are you check that? Even if you are not logged into Google take away all variables. For instance type in pizza I guarantee you will find a Google give you closest pizza place regardless of whether or not using incognito so I would trust in what SEOmoz says more than what your own computer tells you. You can also double check is another third-party software's semrush.com , SpyderMate, Raven tools, Majestic Seo, there are so many different tools out there that will give you a rank and the rink should be based on what the normal find further so many variables to using your own computer that I would trust anything SEOmoz tells you over your own computer unfortunately our own Google systems let us down for Giving the correct answer when trying to write for the entire United States it would be actually unreasonable from multiple different reasons for Google to give you the same answers that might give me because were in different areas and our search habits are different. If you have a client and has been using the same Google acount or computer so that you're logged into Google and you're constantly checking Their rank and clicking on their pages start your choice for whatever search term you used over and over again Google will favor them every time And take into consideration exactly where you are in the entire United States Sincerely, Thomas

What works when common ranking factors fail?
I have seen in few instances where the ranking factors doesn't seem to work for competitive keywords. The websites which don't have more than one or two links rank much higher in search results. Any clue what SEOs should do in that scenario?

No internal links showing up in OpenSiteExplorer report
Hi there A simple one. I was just looking at our site in opensiteexplorer and notice that it says we have no internal links at all: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s244/sh/dd8cc88f-fee4-4ba2-8ec0-f3f8d5c408db/8d3fc3d2aa6fc9d5406051bc91731402 Rather odd as we do. Is this a bug with OSE that anyone knows about or something else? Any ideas / thoughts gratefully received.

Order of urls in SEOMoz crawl report
Is there any rhyme or reason to the order of urls in the SEOMoz crawl report, or are the urls just listed in random order?

Bing Not Complete in Ranking Report
Curious as to what the "FRI" image means under Bing on my Keyword Ranking reports? I saw this on Friday and assumed it hadn't crawled yet (as it was to set to crawl on Friday Jan 27, 2012) but here we are Monday AM and I'm still seeing the same thing. Glf4F.jpg

Do crawl reports see canonical tags?
Greetings, I just redesigned my site, www.funderstanding.com, and have the old site pointing to the new site via canonical URLs. I had a new crawl test run and it showed a large amount of duplicate content. Does the SEO Moz crawl tool validate canonical urls and adjusts the duplicate content count or is this note considered? FYI, I sent from no duplicate content to having 865 errors since the redesign went up so that seems suspicious. I would think though that assuming the canonical tag were used properly, and I hope it is?, that this would not be a problem?? All help with this is most appreciated. Eric
