How should I list my client in Google+?
-
My client is a personal injury lawyer with one office in a highly competitive major metropolitan area and another office in a very small town. They are changing offices in the major metropolitan area in June and will have a new address.
They are already doing well in serps related to the small town but are nowhere to be found in the metropolitan area serps.
Currently I can find unclaimed listings in Google+ Local for both offices. I cannot find any Google+ business page and they don't know of one.
Given this information and the current state of Google+ how would you proceed to list this client?
Specific questions include:
*Would there be any straight SEO benefit of making a Google+ Business Page for them?
*Would you claim the Google+ Local listing for the Metro office that is going to be moved in 5 months? or would you wait until the office is moved then create a new Google+ Local listing?

That's correct, Jesse. You've understood this correctly. Hopefully, we'll see functionality of this kind in 2013!

Hi Miriam,
Thanks for the help!
I'm still confused about whether or not Google+ Local supports multi-location businesses.
Right now in Google+ local both of my client's offices are listed. So I'm guessing that what is not actually supported is the linking of multiple Google+ Local listings to one Google Business Page. True?

Hi Jesse, If you know they are planning to move in the next few months, I would definitely hold off on anything. You don't want to have to go back and re-do the work. Right now, Google+ Local does not support multi location businesses. Multi location businesses and claim/manage their listings via the old Google Places dashboard. I highly recommend a careful read of this post on the subject of merging: http://blumenthals.com/blog/2012/08/10/google-business-pages-to-merge-or-not-to-merge-that-is-the-question/ Hope this helps!

What happens if I structurally uploaded two different images under the same name? Will Google penalise me for it?
Hi, we are a self storage company (www.boxie24.com) and for every url (500 url's) we use 1 head image containing the keyword of the url, so for instance: https://www.boxie24.com/en-us/self-storage-west-village the main image on top is self-storage-west-village-sm.jpg. It was uploaded months ago. Now we are adding more images between the content. But we call them: self-storage-west-village-sm.jpg as well and self-storage-west-village-boxie24-storage-sm. But for almost every url we have "duplicate image name". Is that bad and should we fix it or is it ok? It are different images though. I noticed it today, the images have the same name

Getting A Duplicate Listing Removed
I just found a duplicate listing for our business. It's under a different name and address but the phone number is the same. The duplicate listing needs to be deleted, BUT, here's the problem: no one verified the listing (it was our old firm). And now, to delete it, we have to verify it first, but we don't have access to the building to get the letter. Also, we can't ask the current tenants to give us the letter, because it's another law firm and they just aren't going to help us out. So, any ideas? Ruben

G+ Profile and Pages won't let me list categories
Hi Mozzers, I'm working on a client's G+ profile and sub-pages and the competition all have one simple category - 'House Clearance'. When you start typing there is a drop down and this category isn't present for us? Nowhere near. This is what the client does and I can't work out howe to get it in the page? Anyone else had this problem. Thanks Gareth

How important is a high listing score in getlisted.org?
I checked Moz out on getlisted and found a score of 28%. I believe this is telling me that Moz does not consider this an important piece(getlisted.org) to a local marketing strategy. Also(as you can see in the image) getlisted shows missing listings when the listings are actually with these directory providers. (Not just Moz, but other companies I do local marketing for.) Plus I've noticed that at the bottom of the page the "unable to contact", Bing has been there for a long time. Is this going to be fixed? My clients know about getlisted.org and they are looking to me for answers on how to get them a higher listing score. Is this a tool that can assist in showing clients how well their listings are showing in local marketing or not? moz-getlisted.jpg

Google+ Local Reviews
Hi everyone, Is it against Google+ Local's guidelines to request one's customers to post reviews on their page? For example, asking my customers on my email list, or through Facebook if they can leave a review on the G+ Local page? Thanks

Google Places email question
Hi Mozzers- I just watched the recent Webinar on Google Places optimization. Unfortunately I missed the live broadcast. I have a couple of questions: It was advised to use an email at the domain for claiming the listing. What about a Gmail address with the company's name in the address? I try to use an email at the domain, but sometimes I'm not able to get one setup. One of my clients provides a service where clients don't necessarily have to come to their location. I used the radius option within maps but they are still not coming up in other locations. I should note that they have very good visibility in the metro area where there is more competition. Some of their competition is showing up for lots of locations and they have offices in one location. Tips? Thanks in advance! LHC

Multi-site listings in Google Local/Place pages
I've had problems with a client that is a local medical center with multiple sites/addresses. We've created a Place Page for each location and linked it to the location page on the client's website that matches the address on the Place page. But that means we're not linking to the medical center's home page -- and Google Places doesn't like that. I know this because after we'd owner-verified each Place Page, Google went in and just changed the website link that was a deep link to a location page and replaced it with a link to the home page. But now there's not an address match. How should we handle this? Related question: Does it make sense to claim a separate listing in Yelp and other local directories for each of the separate locations since they each have a unique address? Will Yelp & other local directories allow for links to non-home pages on the client's website?
