Why would my site return an error when using Open Site Explorer to crawl it?
-
I have built several new sites over the last few months for others, but recently built a new one for myself. I have gone through most of the checklists from this site to address on-page SEO, and now I am looking at link building.
When using Open Site Explorer, I receive an error saying that no information about the URL is available, even when I add competitor sites.
Wondering if this is a common issue and if there is a convenient remedy?
thanks!

You can actually check back in a day or two. A little bird told me we have an index update coming out very soon (keep an eye on the blog, we always post there).

Thanks. My URL is only about 30 days old and I don't yet have any back links, though I will shortly. I'll just keep at it and focus on this and check again in a few weeks.

How new is your website ? Do you have any sites linking to you currently ? You might want to check under Google Webmaster Console or Majestic SEO to see if they are reporting any backlinks (if at all they exist). If not, I would just concentrate on building links and eventually OSE will find you.

The site is yet to be crawled by OSE. It is updated every month or so.
Please check the calendar for more details on next update.

Is there a way to get SEOMOZ to not throw an error if i'm using the rel=canonical tag?

Joined yesterday, today crawl errors (incorrectly) shows as zero...
Hi. We set up our SEOMoz account yesterday, and the initial crawl showed up a number of errors and warnings which we were in the process of looking at and resolving. I log into SEOMoz today and it's showing 0 errors, Pages Crawled: 0 | Limit: 10,000 Last Crawl Completed: Nov. 27th, 2012 Next Crawl Starts: Dec. 4th, 2012errors, warnings and notices show as 0, and the issues found yesterday show only in the change indicators. There's no way of getting to the results seen yesterday other than waiting a week?We were hoping to continue working through the found issues!

Open Site Explorer Social Media?
Open Site Explorer always reports only a few facebook likes. If I go to the business page of the site, it has 100+ likes. This seems to happen a lot. Is this a OSE issue or is there an issue with the site clearly being defined to google as a connected facebook account? If OSE doesn't see the likes, will google? How can I fix?

Help with URL parameters in the SEOmoz crawl diagnostics Error report
The crawl diagnostics error report is showing tons of duplicate page titles for my pages that have filtering parameters. These parameters are blocked inside Google and Bing webmaster tools. I do I block them within the SEOmoz crawl diagnostics report?

Does Open Site Explorer violate Google's Terms of service?
According to Google's Webmaster Guidelines: "Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service." Does that mean Open Site Explorer is a violation of those Terms of Service, or is it authorized?

Crawl slow again
Once again the weekly crawl on my site is very slow. I have around 441 pages in the crawl and this has been running for over 12 hours. This last happened two weeks ago (ran for over 48 hours). Last week's crawl was much quicker (not sure exactly how long but guessing an hour or so). Is this a known issue and is there anything that can be done to unblock it? Weekends are the best time for me to assess and respond to changes I have made to my site so having this (small) crawl take most of the weekend is really quite problematic. Thanks. Mark

Is there a tool on here (or anywhere else) where you can upload a list of sites (say 500 sites) and be given things like mozrank on it?

Use of the tilde in URLs
I just signed up for SEOMoz and sent my site through the first crawl. I use the tilde in my rewritten URLs. This threw my entire site into the Notice section 301 (permanent redirect) since each page redirects to the exact URL with the ~, not the %7e. I find conflicting information on the web - you can use the tilde in more recent coding guidelines where you couldn't in the old. It would be a huge thing to change every page in my site to use an underscore instead of a tilde int he URL. If Google is like SEOMoz and is 301 redirecting every page on the site, then I'll do it, but is it just an SEOMoz thing? I ran my site through Firebug and and all my pages show the 200 response header, not the 301 redirect. Thanks for any help you can provide.
