How do you keep your SEOMOZ Status when you go from one agency to another?
-
If you work for an Agency and build a strong profile here at SEOMOZ, what happens if I leave and get a new opportunity but my profile is tied to my last business? How do I transfer all the hard work I've done being involved and gaining those super awesome MOZPOINTS to my new spot?
The old agency can just swoop in and the new guy will benefit from my work in the community. Is there anyway to safeguard your name.

No worries I'm gad to meet you, my network is a very important thing to me. Ill check out the program as well and everything I'm doing at .Com is a transferable process. Its not the process that matters its the ability to execute it that makes all the difference. So where are you buying lunch? Lets connect

Mike,
thumbs up man I adjusted my posting to something more appropriate. And do apologize sincerely I said that thinking you had moved on to something else. That's why I was so liberal in making statements that I obviously should not have.
I have no doubt after what I just read that you know your stuff. In fact I'm very interested in what you're doing to increase social brand engagement however I know that you can't tell me that.
As a peace offering I will give you a piece of software a friend of mine created it's nothing all that special but it's free and can give you any active URL's stats for the amount of times it had been shared and through which social media channel it was shared you can get somewhat technical with it is for states and adding Batch URLs. tell me your thoughts I know it's good for reporting and showing customers where they lack in sharing. Sorry about the URL shortener I posted the URL on my buddies twitter and had to retrieve it this way I can keep tracking it. If you like of course you can delete the and after the /

were part of New Jersey did you live in?
I lived in Chester for I believe 4 years of my life. I was pretty young.
It sounds like what you've done at .Com is really outstanding. They're lucky to have you.
I would be more worried about all the great stuff you thinking of while you're there and how to take that with you. This is a great start with Moz however I'm willing to bet you have stuff you've thought of or contributed greatly to that you would like to continue to use wherever you go or whatever you do.
I sincerely apologize again it was a bonehead move of me to start off with a insult to your company. However I did believe honestly that you are leaving it or had left it.
I look forward to that lunch my friend.
All the best,
Tom
-
Yeah I'm not leaving as most agencies can't afford me so I am staying just to take over the market at a place that everyone said is dead. Not while im there.
-
I appreciate the advice,
I don't want to come off as a jerk I know who you are and respect you and your partner for having the agency but the way you started your last comment wasn't cool and I want to be very clear that I am a player in this Search Marketing and web development scene and combine the two with a can't lose attitude and that's how I win long term regardless of where I'm at.
However I'm not thinking of leaving it was just a "what if" thought. The fact that you compete against us and win is OK to hear however I must say that you haven't been beating me, as I have been there only 90 days and have spent that time cleaning house and developing top notch programs that I'm sick at executing as well as having the resources to do so. In the past 90 days I have helped bring in 2 national partners that will be disclosed in the media over the next few weeks, a new website, a new team structure, altered our reporting schedules along with completely new reporting metrics,we got rid of Raven as per my request because I am throwing out the very mention of "Ranking" and reporting on Metrics that actually matter with a new Reporting company. My Content Marketing plan has depth and reach, my Outreach program is up to every industry standard and more, Local Program that can't lose, voice search optimization..yes im a bit of SIRI Algorithm expert, Video Optimization plan with a focus on Accessibility issue and more items that will quickly be weeding out the folks in town who aren't up to par.
Oh I also brought in two dev teams that I manage overseas that have been with me for years, we just came off of developing an enterprise system for TravelClick a quarter of a billion dollar company. These dev teams are not only building custom applications that I have developed for .Com, we are also working on an entirely new system that quite honestly will change the game with regards to Social Brand Engagement. I also have a great network of Multi lingual SEO analysts experts in specific dialects with certain demographics and have developed the most comprehensive Multi-Lingual search marketing plan ever directed at a non English speaking demographic oh right and just inked a deal with an Orlando NBC affiliate that wants to back my new program.
So again I appreciate the advice, maybe we can sit and do lunch one day and you can apologize for starting our relationship off on the wrong foot and I can apologize for being a hot headed Italian kid from New Jersey who won't lose...

You realize you can just change the name if you are going to leave them with an empty account. The best course of action would be to sign them up for new account takeover their billing although it could get hairy when it comes to all the campaigns.
-
Unfortunately right now you could change your name to .Com marketing
therefore all your posts would reflect the new name and all they would have to do this put another photo in and they would be all set.
If you've been paying for this at of your own pocket or if you start offering 2 right now chai would advise strongly than you have case.
If the employer does not know you're leaving then that could be an issue.
You could ask the employer for more money for extra things on SEOmoz when they say no possibly you could offer to pay out of pocket and write a little thing saying this is my private account it will be used for work up until when I leave.
If you make an agreement like that with them they cannot sue you for theft of intellectual property a know it sounds crazy but it's very real.
Good luck and I hope to hear from you.
-
Mike You are in FL I'm in Winter Park Florida.
Okay simply explained them it uses your name legally I believe in intellectual property is there's anything you do on a company for your employer is in fact there property not yours even any ideas you come up with sounds pretty sketchy right well it's the law.
Simply help them open up a new SEOmoz account for whoever needs one if they ask you why not just leave the one you have left say well changing my name would be giving credit to somebody else for my own work which is legal by the way for them to do however they may come whatever terms you are on take pity and allow you to keep it.
Worst-case scenario man get 70 points back in a couple weeks and start a new. FYI please contact me I'm in your area and I have a firm.
Sincerely,
Thomas Zickell

Yeah I think on my next reviews I am gonna bring up the topic
-
Hi Mike,
In your case, I'm definitely not disagreeing with what you're saying - I'm more just considering how it could be a little rough for SEOmoz to handle this. And, if you were building in the Agency's name (which I understand you're not) how they might look at it.
It would be nice if you could just get your agency to export any client campaign history and then switch the billing over to you. In this situation, it would be the classy thing for them to do.
-
Maybe it can just be some sort of relation system. Where even if I leave the relation to those old posts and answers and blogs still carry some weight but maybe you lose some points in the process.
Another way is to have a "Posted By" like I can on Facebook where I am an admin of a page and can post as any number of different identities such as just the company or me. That way I couldn't keep relations to posts and items set forth by the company but anything historical in my name transfers along with any pints you garnered off of those items. In this industry making a name is it and it takes a while to do so.
-
Agreed but at my agency I am the only one who puts the time into gaining ground in our industry and quite frankly I do it because it builds my reach as well as theirs. Your name is what matters in Search and if I work hard to get a name I want to make sure I keep it and not have to start over I do most of this at home off company time as well so I don't get paid for the extra community building I just love it.
-
Seems like it might be a pretty grey area for SEOmoz to get into.
As the owner of an agency, I can see why some agencies might get upset at having anything at all transferred over -- if that agency has paid for the account and the employee's time when they're building community/brand.
We've avoided this by having participation in the community come from me, and having the account with client information handled the same way. Staff or freelancers that want to participate do so on their own accounts, so there's no confusion there. Pretty much a similar situation to what Charles suggested.
On the off chance that you're with a company that's thought about this - you might also want to check your contract for ownership of profiles created on company time. We don't do it, but I know of other companies, even locally here in Amish country Lancaster, PA, who do.
-
We have considered this. While I don't believe we have any type of solution in place right now, we have plans for a better solution in the future.
-
Thanks Eric
yeah I was afraid of that, so now I need to start my own account I guess. I would think that SEOMOZ would consider this issue since mostly companies have SEOMOZ accounts.
-
I was at an agency that had an account, and I was really the only person that ever used it, so the account was under my name. I left the agency and contacted the SEOmoz helpdesk to see if they could migrate my blog posts, comments, etc to a new account and just keep the paid account with the agency. They said that they unfortunately don't have that ability. As such, I now keep my own account open regardless of whether I'm working with/for a company with its own account.
-
Yeah that's what I've been positioning for. I do love the agency I work for they support me and pretty much let me do what is best for our clients so im good but a pay jump will definately be coming..as I grow in the community
the company profile is filled with my info since I lead the charge in building a community that really knows me and not so much the agency so maybe there is leverage there..HAHA

Unsolved No replies from help@moz.com - one of our IPs is blocked by Cloudflare so we cannot access Moz Community from there
Hi all,
Product Support | | DanielDL
I am a bit at my wits end trying to get some acknowledgement from MOZ. Have had no replies, no ticket auto-replies, no updates on any of the messages I have sent via the Moz Help Form on the website. Literally nothing. I wanted to avoid having to post publicly, but does anyone know how to raise a "technical problem" ticket with MOZ? help@moz.com never replies and the Help Form doesn't generate any kind of ticket. From our main office we get an "Access denied" Error (via Cloudflare) specifically for the Moz Community area. This happened to us in February of this year and has been happening again all through May. After testing ourselves with our IT, we determine that MOZ's Cloudflare account has incorrectly blocked the dedicated IP address specific to the internet connection at our head office. This means that none of our Moz User accounts can access anything related to the Community area in our account when working at the studio. We can only do so when working remotely (ie. some other IP address). This is incredibly frustrating, particularly as we've been on a proper paid MOZ account for many years. And I have sent numerous email requests, messages via the Form, etc., and have never heard back from anyone at all. The problem has been on-going for some time and I guess it is my fault because I tried to politely wait a fair amount of time between each follow-up. Only to realize that, actually, I don't think anyone is monitoring help@moz.com or even the Form submissions, or are even looking into the issue for me. Am hoping this message is seen by someone at Moz so they can let me know what is going on please? Guys..... c'mon.....0 -

Receiving 4XX status codes
_Can someone help explain this error and the best fix for it. The host says the script maybe looking for an SSL but that made low/no sense. Your input it greatly appreciated. 4XX status codes (i.e., a 404 Not Found error) are shown when the client requests a page that cannot be accessed. This is usually the result of a bad or broken link. These issues should be kept to a minimum if possible. Make sure no internal links on your site are broken. For external links to your site, try contacting the linking site's owner and asking them to fix or update the link. _

I plan to have multiple sites/compaigns. My Question: Is there a way to set up a limited account that one client would be able to view just their campaign?
I don't want a client to be able to see all of our other campaigns, just theirs. Is there a way to set this up?

Agency clients question
We're a small agency and run multiple campaigns for clients. Two questions. Besides sending custom reports can we give access to the data to individual clients so that they can only see their data? Second, if the clients wants to download the data, how can that be done? Thanks,
