PR Web or Marketwire which is better
-
Hi
I am currently considering two online PR services, Marketwire and PR web. Just wondering if anyone has a opinion on which one is better in terms of SEO value? Or if anyone has done any experiments on either?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
Mik

Great thread! I just submitted one with Marketwire, it was much cheaper and I know they have strong contacts. i will likely use PR web next time and I'll let you know which I found better.
I think it also depends on your industry and what you are looking to get out of the press release. Marketwire is great for Canadian offline media distribution if that's what you're looking for.

I have had better results with PR Web, though I use both. If you need to pick one, use PR Web.

Generally we find PR Web is better (and cheaper!), Marketwire has been around longer and I think they may have a stronger contact base in the traditional media.

Same. I use PR Web 2-3 times a year (usually during peak season for one of my sites, and then to announce new features). If I put the time and effort in to pick good outlets/regions I usually am happy (but not thrilled) with the results. I get some good links and occasionally contacted about doing a piece. I feel it's the same as creating quality content, as you still need to put in some time and effort to get it picked up at more outlets. I have never tried Marketwire though, but I might in the future.

I have used PR Web. This site has a good reputation when it comes to distributing local news in a single region. But more or less, both are same and difference in pricing could be a deciding factor

Never used Marketwire, however I use PR Web regularly for syndicating clients press release. I like the service, I get a good spread of sites publishing articles and a decent amount of links (embedded in the article through PR Webs online editor).

Better Business Bureau
Two questions about BBB. 1. The PA for some company listings is 0 and the PA for others is much higher. Is this because some companies have a link back to their listing and others do not? 2.I checked a random sample of companies with links from BBB to their company site, but the links are not listed in the OSE. Why is that? Best,

Does Google and other web crawlers follow through HTML forms?
Has anyone read or heard anything about this? I'm trying to decide if it's necessary to spell out all form options as links as well? Thanks!

Are PR releases good for Link Building?
I'm having a bit of a conundrum with Press Releases: I recently sent a press release on PRWeb (which I personally think is just "average" compared to others as it focuses mainly on the CBS network and is not focused at all unless you pay for an expensive release) and got over 100 incoming links from high PR news sites (according to Webmaster Tools) but these links had PRWeb in subtitle, so for all I know these were syndicated releases and not "Pick up By" as PRWeb reports. Will this affect Page Rank value or rankings for any keywords? Are these links treated only as temporary links or permanent back links? (I know sometimes they appear in Google News or Yahoo News, but disappear the next day) Was it valuable to the company? Our business is in health sector exclusively on East Coast U.S. and the release was seen all over the world and not one of the links coming back was from a health-related section. They were high rank online sites, but is there value in such links? added 11/30: I was reviewing competitors' link backs I found they did a lot of press releases and gained a high-level link back from each one. These were the best/highest-authority links they had. The syndicated releases were not even listed anywhere. And then I reviewed their SERPs... and guess what, their ranks increased with each one. (So I don't think "duplication" is an issue. If anything only the syndicated copies were penalized, but not the original one)

How to Get Links as A Web Host
As a web hosting provider how would you get links other than people writing reviews about you? How would I find people with actual websites/blogs to ask to write reviews about us? Current customers will usually write reviews on webhostingtalk.com a popular forum for web hosting. We already have plenty of links from forums in the industry. Giving out prizes will only result in more links from webhostingtalk.com presumably, what do you think?

Following Penguin, what is the best practice for a web design agency placing a footer link in client sites?
For years we have included a 'Web Design by ...' link in the footer of all client websites designed by us. However, following the Penguin update, it seems that this legitimate practice could now be penalised. Should we be removing those links from our client's sites? There are tens of thousands, all with similar or identical text! For future client sites, should we avoid these footer links altogether? Or maybe limit the link to a single page on each site?

Should You Avoid Links from Sites with Big Difference Between PR and MozRank?
If a site has a Google toolbar PR of 2 and a Mozrank of 5, does that most likely mean that the site is penalized and a link would probably provide little value. I know that Google rarely updates toolbar PR so I suppose the site could have also earned a lot of quality links since the last update. Thanks Mozzers!

Index.php OR .php - Which is better for urls
I was wondering. When I build links should I build them using "index.php" OR ".php" at the end? Does one have any more value than the other from an SEO standpoint Example: www.mywebsite.com\hotdogs\index.php or www.mywebsite.com\hotdogs.php
